Well that was shit. Awful direction, awful art, just awful. The weirdly placed commercial break and intrusive FI flashback ruined all tension (I realise that was the order in the manga, but that doesn't always translate well to the anime, it felt super out of place). I enjoyed some of Hisada's action bits and Ichikawa's art; I don't even want to imagine what the episode would've been like without him.
Overall this just left me with a feeling of disappointment and wondering what the hell went wrong. I'm always tentative towards the quality of an episode when a special is being produced, but after an episode like 841 this just leaves a sour taste.

Only good thing about this episode was Sugita (Who plays both Gintoki and Young Joseph) as Katakuri making a ninja "your next line will be" Jojo reference the same week Part 5 was announced BABYY!!!

'twas indeed 841's blood sacrifice, and not a surprising one with the director being undistinguished and the animation director being distinguished in the wrong ways. Inoue co-AD'd the episode with Deguchi it turns out, but like his other work this arc it was very rough and diluted with a shot of Sanji around the eye catch being the most recognizable. Best part of the episode was Bege losing it at the end. That was fun.
Yep, this was janky in pretty much every way an episode could be. Not the worse the anime's delivered, not by a long shot, but not all that encouraging given the stretch of chapters we're about to hit. With the special going on and there not really being any real riveting chapters to adapt until August we're probably going to be in for a lean July.
The Fishman Island flashback was 100% necessary. You can't expect them to skip it when many people may not remember that detail from 200 episodes ago and without any of the main cast even knowing about it to make it feel natural. Felt intrusive in the manga too but it would be dumb to skip it.
The only real issue I had with it was the goofy music they played. Even if the scene originally was fine for it, I think a more ominous tone would have fit the atmosphere.
I had no issue with the material added or the expanded fights. The art and animation were very wonky throughout though.
This episode was meh, but there is a good thing that we are going by that pace, because like Crossword said next few chapters are not that important so until we reach chapter 879 where fight will start then special will be probably done, because fight will start 19/08 in ep 850, where key animation for special will be probably done, so animators will be free, or 26/08 in episode 851, 1 day after special, director said in interview that they will put effort to this fight so i expect Tomita after working on ep 841, now will be doing some key animation for fight, Tu probably will do some scenes too, he even said that he want to work on this fight, shida said that if there will be chance then he want to work too, so i'm not worried about quality of the fight. I want ask something, i was thinking Inoue is working on special because last time we seen him in ep 835, but in the newest ep he was doing few things, then why he is not working on episode as normal AD? Maybe we will see him in the next stuff list, but i doubt it, if someone can answer me then i would be thankful.
Good action at the wedding that puts the manga to shame.
Sanji and smoothie are actually fighting!!! And inchiji and his bros didn’t get beat off panel like in the manga, they put up a fight with katakuri and big mom.
Even Galette gets to do something!
Inoue co-supervised this with Deguchi. Nice to see he's still around, even if his touch on this episode was very minimal compared to #813
Then i wonder why Inoue cant work as normal AD like in ep 813, i hope we will see him as normal AD in the near future…
#813 was co-supervised with Kimitaka Ito. He might just need to get to grips with the series again. It's hard to guess.
Thanks for fast answer, i hope next few episodes will look better, they should,because stuff is better than for this episode, i wonder who will be ED and AD for the episode where we will have start of the fight, my guess is Aya Komaki as ED or Kohei Kureta with Kitazaki as AD again,they done good job on ep 841… Fight should start on ep 850-851 so they will have enough time to work on this, like i said earlier, i think Tomita and few other animators like Tu or Mitsui will appear in this episode.

Inoue did the same for #813 though, he co-supervised it but his touch was all over that episode compared to this one likely because the Inoue usuals (Tomita, Mitsui, etc) were on last week's episode and he was probably co-supervising it to help the episode a little rather than overhaul it like he did with #813. It's great to see him still on the show though but you have to remember that he wasn't a regular supervisor back then either, he would do some episodes here and there.
Missed last week's episode due to being out of town, so watched two in a row. I…didn't really like last week's episode. In the manga the whole escape part felt pretty frantic, but the episode didn't feel that way at all with all its stoppages and confrontations and flying Big Mom Pirates. Eventually it just got repetitive and boring. It did get better toward the end, though - the scene with Du Feld, Stussy, and the Tamatebako was probably the highlight of the episode. The art was pretty consistently good too, and hey, Smoothie got to do fight stuff!
I thought this episode was alright, not great but still kind of fun. There were some pretty weird action moments and shots but overall I felt like it flowed a lot better than it did last week, and I enjoyed getting to see how the Straw Hats and co. met their downfall. Everything post-explosion wasn't outright terrible, but the cutaways weren't really consistent and didn't do a great job of creating a flowing sequence of everyone tumbling and falling. Just meh overall in my opinion. I also think the Fishman Island flashback would have been better placed before the Tamatebako landed on the ground; it was alright where it was but not the best placement.

Bege's laugh was probably the only good thing in the whole episode. For everything else, the silver lining is that it was SO bad that it crossed the line and became funny (for the wrong reasons, but still).
And following the trend I mentioned last week, this episode covered the 6 pages of 871 missing from 841, but left 10 (TEN) pages out from 872… I seriously hope this is just a temporary thing and not they trying to establish a constant pace of less than a chapter per episode.
I smell a half-chapter episode this week.

Man, someone should really make a gif of big mom rolling down the chateau in this episode. That would be like the case in point for any argument about bad art/animation. It’s so laughably bad.
