Ahh, hell. It's probably going to be an average at best game, but I really like the roster.

I really liked those jump ultimate stars, and mostly because it was 2d.
I wouldn't mind an 2.5d game, but I really have a bias against full 3d fighters with the camera behind the character

I'm honestly surprised they left the Jump Super/Ultimate Stars franchise dead for so long. Same with Gigant Battle. They were fun fighting games. Although I do remember everyone complaining back then that we weren't getting proper Fighting Games

I do not know enough of the romance series of jump to make a guess for them.
Medaka, or Himeko as the point woman of sket dan if they go with the not ultra hit series.

Isn't the (what I assume is) character customization shown there using Android 18's hair? Doesn't necessarily confirm her but something to note considering the female character reveal rumor. (even though DBZ has enough as it is)
Don't think assets for CaC are any indication for characters, at least not for shows that are already in, otherwise, if anything, these screenshots might be hint shows that revealed yet.

Piccolo was actually a pretty relevant character that debuted in chapter 101, and was a recurring character in every arc after the major timeskip, Android 18 on the other hand only debuted 349 and had few fights in comparison.
Again, I believe Android 18 is the best choice for DB, because for some reason Toriyama didn't create enough female fighters, just not an addition I would like generally tho, especially considering other more important females in other jump manga.
On the topic of additions, Sanji is no way a questionable one, he's been one of the main characters since East Blue, and ranked third in the most recent character poll.
I consider Sabo and Cell weird and somewhat bothersome additions tho. So yes, they might add 18 considering their track record. -

Maybe they wanted to add Ace at first but then decided to go with Sabo who's more relevant and has a more diverse moveset (dragon claw, weapon, and fire).
Also, currently I'm skeptical about them adding Law to the base game, specially since OP already has the most reps and I think the final slot could go to Nami or Hancock. They also need popular characters to sell the DLC, so…
Anyway, I do get why both Sabo and Cell were added, I just find it weird because there are better choices both in and outside of the respective manga. -
Whenever I think "Cell is boring", I remember who his original VA is and I just go "worth it".

Never understood why Hancock got in the first game over Nami or Robin except they probably had to pick Nami or Robin and Hancock seemed the safer choice. But at this rate I'm expecting Korosensei and all of the others from the first game to eventually show up en mass.

Would have rather preferred Big Mom instead of Hancock. Imagine playing with this massive polka dot dressed ugly old woman while having a sentient sun and thundercloud around you while throwing massive swordslashes.. Yeah that totally isn't a million times better than Hancock..

Hancock simply has a moveset that is easy to translate into a videogame. She's basically Sanji with a devil fruit as far as her fighting style is concerned.
Compare that with other female characters like Nami or Robin and you can see why a developer for a fighting game would choose to develop Hancock over others.

Also, the popularity poll, while oda takes those with a grain of salt, a marketing team or a game designer who doesn't know how many particle effects are too many wouldn't be so keen on that. Big mom's big figths were this year, I doubt they went out of plan for anyone but Luffy and Goku.

I'd guess they would close with Asta and Deku, as the young new promises, with Senku and Emma being barelly combatants and having too little time to adapt them even if they took their skills and extended it, but there is still two months to go, and no word on the dlcs yet.
