Chapter 904: The Entrance of The Revolutionary Army Commanders
-
I liked it. I like the commanders. I like knowing more about the Revolutionary Army. I'm just not sure this needed a whole chapter. Felt short.
-
New character designs are pretty top notch. If the Reverie is actually going to turn into open conflict between the Revolutionaries and the World Government I officially have no idea where it could all be going. This's gonna be good.
-
Nice to see that germa is out of the WG.
-
This is one of those chapters where I elected to skip the spoilers, because from what I saw it wasn't really the best without the art. Anyways, I really like it. So it looks like the organization of the RA is Executive HQ - Which is Dragon at the top as Leader and then Sabo as Chief of Staff, then the next level below them is the four Commanders. I assume they are each of the Commanders of the respective Blues?
Beyond that, despite Dragon's claim that they are declaring war against the Celestial Dragon, I have a feeling like the actual battles won't begin until Luffy and the Straw Hats get involved, which means a long time. Then again, One Piece isn't a manga where the world is stagnant when the SHs aren't there. I wonder what other people on here think?

Baltigo shows battles happen with out SH involved
-
oooof that betty design
-
Love the revolutionaries. I swear Oda's been watching Les Miz or something. LOL could almost hear the lyrics in the dialogue. Thought there'd be more executives than just 4. I hope this means they're strong.
Side note hope Shonen Jump isn't pushing their mangaka too hard, 15 pages + boku no hero having unfinished panels has me worried. I rather have finished work from semi-rested mangaka who are enjoying their jobs, than rushed half assed chapters.
-
also I hope Karasu is a crow logia because that would give me more hope for a spider logia
-

*Special Zoan
-
*Special Zoan
punch someone
they burst into spiders and crawl all over youYou know you want it
-
I think the chapter would have been better structured if the reveal that they were declaring war on the Tenryuubito was at the end.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
also I hope Karasu is a crow logia because that would give me more hope for a spider logia
I've been saying all along that Queen would have the Swarm fruit.
-
Seeing such a small bounty belonging to a Blackbeard underling and having his silhouette appear for the first time after the time skip, makes me believe that at the end of this volume/arc we will see him in full with his new design alongside his new bounty, being it something absurd like 8 billions or higher, making Luffy look puny in comparison.
-
So Betty is definitely based off of this painting right? Both of them even have their tits hanging out.

There's nothing indicating they'll get involved. Hell, last chapter literally stated that while everyone is focusing on the Reverie, they're off to Wano. And that's when they're clearly attacking, during the Reverie, as indicated by them making plans to head there. So whatever goes down in this arc, the Straw Hats won't have any part in it.
Also keyword is "declaration", meaning it's not as if they plan on ending things right then and there.
-
the chapter felt super short. also I was promised more vivi… well. whatever.
I like the top commanders. my favorite one is the crow guy. also finally someone taking the bounty for a pirate. -
Bummed again. I'm trying really hard to give a damn, but… An entire chapter is dedicated to showing off a bunch of flashy designs whom we're supposed to instantly like except they're right out of nowhere and I feel completely detached.
I'm curious about the revos side of One Piece, I really am, but I'd have been perfectly happy if they'd simply walked through the door in Kamabaka, been given their Oda box and got to the interesting stuff. With Dragon and Ivankov and Sabo and Koala, characters I desperately want to see more of, who we've known for a while and can get behind a lot more because they're actually related to the Straw Hats.
Instead we have the commanders saving a bunch of nobodies going against…What, the equivalent of Jaya Straw Hats ? Such stakes, now I'm hyped for sure :getlost:. I can't even remember when Luffy's bounty was last so low, but I'm pretty sure however that the last time a hype chapter felt so cartoonishly bad was Fishman Island. -
the chapter felt super short.
Because it was. Apparently a lot of mangaka were really rushed because of Goldenweek. My hero academia actually had a bunch of unfinished panels.
-
Very interesting designs all around. I see that goggles are RA uniform staple but I can't say I don't like it.
Betty's fruit is pretty…...well i don't know what to think of it. Guess I'll wait till she battles with it. If she ever does.
The revo I most anticipated was Karasu because his crows were shown a few times previously. It'll be interesting to see if it's a special loan or something unique to him. He didn't turn into a crow himself, he was commanding a murder of them.
-
Nice chapter, great to see the already known revolutionaries back.
I'm not sure, what to think about the new commanders though.
I know that Oda can handle these groups well, but partially their appearance (although unique) reminds me of bland Fairy Tail enemy groups. -
So this chapter is playing after the Baltigo incident? And nothing really happened there except the Blackbeards destroyed the Revolutionaries headquarter? All revolutionaries are fine? :wassat:
-
also I hope Karasu is a crow logia because that would give me more hope for a spider logia
Didn't one of the Vice Admirals in the Buster Call at Enies Lobby have a Spider zoan fruit?
-
Didn't one of the Vice Admirals in the Buster Call at Enies Lobby have a Spider zoan fruit?
Yeah, Onigumo. Totally shoulda been one of the new admirals.
-
So now info about what happened between Dragon and BB
But at least we now the Vinsmokes are out of WG
And wtf? Now we have animal logias
-
oooof that betty design [qimg]http://media.arkansasonline.com/img/photos/2014/07/21/resized_99261-obama-2012_segr_89-18587_t728.JPG?268341e6cd9f2dbb5da7a7ef3377e116f3d68a26[/qimg]
I want to take her someplace windy. VERY windy place.
Anyway, Karasu obviously has the best design. I see that Oda keeps the steampunk theme for all the RA members and absurd clothing for the okama (morley is an okama right?).
Really don't know how oda will handle and how long it will be with the reverie arc now with RA declaring war like this.
-
Didn't one of the Vice Admirals in the Buster Call at Enies Lobby have a Spider zoan fruit?
He has a spider zoan, not a spider logia like FelRes suggested.
-
He has a spider zoan, not a spider logia like FelRes suggested.
? I never called Onigumo a logia.
-
I'm HOPING they have more powerhouses in the Revolutionary army. Think they have to take on the Admirals and VA's and there are some powerful VAs even when you don't consider GARP.
-
-
So none of these commanders look like the shadowy face in chapter 801. Is there another high-ranking officer to be revealed?
-
? I never called Onigumo a logia.
No, you said you wanted a spider logia, and then DarkestSith6 said "doesn't Onigumo have that?" and I pointed out that Onigumo has a zoan, not the logia you were talking about.

That's definitely Morley.

Morley is among the shadowy faces.

"Didn't one of the Vice Admirals in the Buster Call at Enies Lobby have a Spider zoan fruit?"
Sure looks like he said zoan, not logia.
-
Could Morley fruit be the one that wqas used in Impel Down to make level 5.5 ?
-
So now info about what happened between Dragon and BB
[..]
Furthermore Dragon does not hold a grudge against Blackbeard. He instead happily plans a war against the celestials as there is no other, far more immanent thread against the Revolutionaries.
-
I expected the revo tu have more than just 4 commanders….
For the designs, the girl is generic oda girl, the giant is the child of hajrudjn and machvise, the mouse guy is the most atypical, while crow guy is a bit generic too.
Finally we got the buff fruit and as expected the revolutionaries will attack the reverie .
I hoped to like the evo commander more in their first introduction..hope they will grow on me
-
This chapter is insanely short (15 pages), so I sense an Oda break coming after next week. As for the content, I think most of us have been curious about the Revolutionary Armies structure, so I'm quite content. At least Karusu and Morley have been on Oda's mind since Dressrossa, and it would appear that Morley's design has changed a fair bit, going by his "Throne Wars" silhouette. Always fun to see how Oda changes designs before an official reveal of characters.
Also, that cheer-cheer fruit seems insanely strong if used the right way. Imagine if Betty had been at Marineford. Shit
-
Great chapter. I'm a sucker for new characters and new abilities, and this one provided a lot of that. I absolutely adore how diverse the four commanders are, and their Devil Fruit powers are all really simple and cool. Also, Lindbergh reminds me of Rocket Raccoon so he's currently my favorite of the bunch.
I do wonder what the impact of Blackbeard's attack on Baltigo will be, though, since things seemed pretty much fine for the Revos in this chapter.
Bummed again. I'm trying really hard to give a damn, but… An entire chapter is dedicated to showing off a bunch of flashy designs whom we're supposed to instantly like except they're right out of nowhere and I feel completely detached.

I can't even remember when Luffy's bounty was last so low, but I'm pretty sure however that the last time a hype chapter felt so cartoonishly bad was Fishman Island.I personally wouldn't be as satisfied if they had just walked in; this scene gave the chance to showcase both their personalities and abilities. Newly introduced characters tend to do better, at least for me, if they get a well-rounded introduction.
As for your attitude about the arc, I think taking a break and binge-reading the next few chapters might do you well.
-
Does anyone else get the impression Betty is male.
-
Didn't one of the Vice Admirals in the Buster Call at Enies Lobby have a Spider zoan fruit?
Thing is we haven't seen Onigumo turn fully into a spider. So maybe he is a zoan that never fully turned, finding the hybrid form more helpful. That's more likely than he has a paramecia that imitates zoan and lets him only partially transform akin to how Baby5 & Daz Bones have paramecia that imitates logia, allowing them to transform body parts into metal form (hers is superior to his)
But its still just a spider zoan, its not a 'special zoan: swarm' type that would allow him to burst into a dozen (or hundreds) of small spiders then reform his body.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I'm still trying to wrap my head around why Katakuri's fruit isn't Logia…
because logias are element/force of nature based, the person turns into that element/force and can create unlimited amount of the element and control it.
Zoans are animal based, transforming into a form but cannot control others of that type. One may turn into a dog, but can't control dogs.
And paramecia are random effects that can be anything excluding fully transforming into an animal or element/fore of nature.Did Karasu fully transform into a crow? I didn't see it. I only saw him create a murder of crows and control them.
Seems like Karasu is paramecia.…unless zoans have a special class: swarm.
-
Huh.
For some reason I wasn't quite feeling it. I got the same feeling I got whenever Mashima decided to introduce multiple members of a strong group in a single chapter, just to get it out of the way. I know I sound petty, but ut was really not much. Maybe it's because they weren't steadily built up, just dumped on us after showing some silhouettes once. Sure, it's understandable you can't just cover every aspect of the world in this format, and it shows here. Revolutionaries have been keept tightly under wraps for too long and I can't say the pay off got me hyped much.
I love what they look like, but I doesn't feel like they're army leaders to me.
Karasu totally looks like original Swain from LOL. I'd go with mythical zoan on this one. Doesn't fit into any other mold.
-
No, not at all.ddd
-
Did Karasu fully transform into a crow? I didn't see it. I only saw him create a murder of crows and control them.
Seems like Karasu is paramecia.…unless zoans have a special class: swarm.
Yatagarasu, the three legged crow? Not sure what abilities it originally had in mythology, though.

@Kaido:
this scene gave the chance to showcase both their personalities and abilities. Newly introduced characters tend to do better, at least for me, if they get a well-rounded introduction.
It did, and I agree that full introductions are better than just a name box. I may not like it right now, but I do see that this is paving the road for future chapters where these characters will be relevant. The incident itself may even become relevant during the Reverie arc, for example be the spark of an upcoming revolution in this Lulusia kingdom we keep hearing about lately.
However, the stakes here are so low that I can't help finding the whole situation laughable. This is really cheap hype compared to, say, the introduction of Jack who was first seen taking on an island's worth of top-notch new world warriors. This whole scene could have been so much more interesting if the commanders had been introduced during, say, a flashback of the Bartigo events. Instead the clash with Blackbeard is shoved under the carpet and we get…something else.As for your attitude about the arc, I think taking a break and binge-reading the next few chapters might do you well.
True. As I said last chapter, no matter how many times I read it the end of Tottland really left a bitter aftertaste and I'll probably have a hard time enjoying the story until I've made peace with that.
-
Moda from Ace's cover story is back of all people:
Also, Koala using a booster seat because she's too short, haha
-
I'm still trying to wrap my head around why Katakuri's fruit isn't Logia…
able
He was originally intended as Logia but had to be changed to special paramecia since Mochi is not 自然系(Natural Type). But, has a reasonable explanation now as to why he is able to look and work like a Logia. He can move and shape his body around, BUT if he doesn't he will get hit. All the times he got shot or sliced or punched through he simply changes the shape of his body in order to not get hit which can be done easily by him since he can see the future

Quoting this because it's pretty much the impression this chapter left me with, just better worded and with less negativity than my own take on it.
Also, @Artur, good catch on Moda. I'd even forgotten she existed
-
I feel like the commanders reveal it's the kind of thing that normally would've been condensed in half a chapter, but shorter chapters also happen so that's fine I guess.
The loudspeaker gag was great. So the crow guy was already with Sabo at the end of Dressrosa, weird, but maybe it can be be explained since Dragon hadn't already called them or maybe because he already wanted to meet them at Kamabakka. I don't remember the time frame between the end of Dressrosa and Dragon mentioning the commanders so I'd have to reread that part. And we've yet to know the details of their supposed clash (?) with BB. Btw I don't know if it has already been said but it's very likely that the purpose of that whole plot thread is that BB stole a poneglyph / got a copy of it/them from the revos, or at least got some info about the WG or some ancient weapon.
I thought the Revolutionaries were already fighting a war against the Celestial Dragons, but I guess it means that now they will attack them directly instead of just freeing the counties that are under their domain. -
So that 52 million guy got taken out without a fight by peasants hitting him over the head with a stick?
To quote Smoker, if that guy was 50+ million where have the marines standards gone.
-
Those commanders….don't look that impressive.
