But, yeah. I already said most of my thoughts on this previously, haha.
I think I get what you guys were trying to go for here with the moral of the story, but just sayin', I think you should have started the game with a Night phase, like Night 0 or something, and had Femme die at the end of that. If she felt less like she was an actual player by dying without really participating in the game , we might have been able to figure out sooner that none of us killed her. Having to just expect to figure out that "She wasn't actually killed by any players because there is no Mafia in this game called 'Mafia', she died because she was forced to self-target by the rules of the game"…isn't really something intuitive at all, haha.

So I've been following the game pretty closely, and I have to say for the first few days, I was actually regretting not playing. It seemed pretty active and fun. Something I haven't felt for a few games now, so congrats to you all for that.

All that said, I have to say this was a pretty messed up setup. A mafia game with no mafia, and lying to the players (since the entire game ended up hinging on who killed Femme), is not okay. It's the very definition of a Bastard Game, and that's without even considering the other roles involved in the setup (notably, Insane Cop + Miller with a small player total).
I also feel like the mods did not have a proper understanding of night action resolution and reporting. But hey, I guess it doesn't matter when the whole premise is just to fuck with the town for amusement. There are no winners; it's pointless. I think that's especially cruel when we've been having a lot of trouble lately finding players, not only to sign up but also to be active in games. This type of "experiment" isn't going to do anything to encourage signing up for future games, which is something we desperately need. At least that's my feeling. Maybe that's not how the actual players felt.

While I don't the game setup itself was inherently bad, it is a shame that our most active town in forever was wasted on it. With the exception of No Swords, I'm pretty we've all gotten quite a few games under our belts so I don't think it will discourage people signing up. That being said, I wouldn't suggest we do anything like this again any time soon.
I will point out that we technically never lied to any of the players, beyond Insane Cop stuff. In retrospect, having Femme die Night 0 instead would have been a cleaner way to implement the idea.
As for night actions, we really did try to be as consistent as possible. Several of the roles didn't have clear guidelines on how they interacted with one another so we had to guess with the best of our ability on the fly. For instance, we determined early on that the Jailer should take precedence over all other roles, including the Bus Driver, in order to give SUDK and his target as much time to talk as possible. The only real misstep I think we made on that front was Faith tracking Galaxy on Night 1. Since he couldn't reach his target, Vorli and I weren't sure whether to say he visited Nectar or stayed home, since neither really felt right. We split the difference but didn't take into account how that might mislead Faith into thinking there was another roleblocker.
I hope you all ended up having fun for most of it though.
Apologizes to everyone I hurt/pissed off/annoyed. Every game (well, after the first ten or so) I come in trying to be low key but failing, unless I'm killed. Things are so much easier when you're a Vig.

It was something different for us vets (Thank you, Jabber!) but yeah, it's time to build an audience with classic, maybe even open setups.

Well, if Femme was forced to kill herself then I would consider her role flip a lie. Players must act under the assumption that everyone will actively work toward their win condition, otherwise the game wouldn't work.
All in all, I'm kinda glad this was my first game. I feel like the length and player activity gave me a decent idea of how mafia should generally be played, and I'd like to give special thanks to Faith for all the time and effort she put into discussing different possibilities and outcomes. Your posts were incredibly informative. ^^
