The arc has already showed that no one there can beat her even if they all team up.
So how much more does she have to do to prove her self or what does she have to do ?

I was curious because Oda has a thing against strong women in his stories. Shirahoshi is arguably the strongest woman in One Piece because she can beckon sea kings at her will and she is called Weakahoshi.
BM in order to show respect shouldnt even be playing with Nami and Chopper if we are telling the truth.

Crocodile, a Shishibukai, wanted to slice at WB and he was stopped in a heartbeat. Why? Because, his crew respected that fodder should not touch the King so easily.

I am not saying Nami, Brooke and Chopper are fodder. I actually think if Nami gets to keep Zeus (which would be a gigantic shame on Big Mom's part) that Nami will then be one of the strongest in the crew. But None of those three are even close to Crocodile level and Nami actually physically hurt Big Mom.

Maybe Oda does not want to make Big Mom look strong since all the strongest women in One Piece are weakish.

First arc, a woman wanted to be the worlds greatest swordsman and Oda killed her off the very next chapter (allegedly, she could still be alive in some theory circles).

I am not against Oda's storytelling, I like this arc enough and this chapter was wonderful, but it disrespects Big Mom terribly and put the most powerful woman known in One Piece to shame. Seeing this happen to her, being made a fool of, a lot of fans are thinking the same also.

And Nami definitely hurt Big Mom this chapter that is a guarantee. She screams in pain while being struck by lightning. Jimbei's love tap didnt even make Big Mom blink she just fell back. Jimbeis attack truly did not effect her but that attack from Nami did.

Put Whitebeard on a ship on the middle of the ocean, make him constantly suffer from his old age afflictions, and put him against Aokiji who can freeze his tsunamis. Is he quite so hot now? Plus he can't even fly. Jinbe's Fishman Karate technique would have killed him. Fucking disappointment.

If Big Mom was actually out to fight the Straw Hats you'd probably see more attacks like her attacking Jinbe with Napoleon. She won said clash extremely easily. And using her homies in general much more liberally because she doesn't care about keeping the ship intact.

And again, people's memories about Squard seem to be failing a tad bit.

Brooke knew that he couldn't escape from Big Mom in the treasure room. Nor the army behind her. It makes more sense that he pretended to put up a fight, got captured to later plan his escape(idiot fell asleep though). Prometheus being hit by his attack was a confirmation to Brook that his powers do affect even Big Mom's main homies.

Now, Brooke's motivations are different. It took a combination between the Soul King and a Weather Witch to subdue a recently discharged cloud homie.

That is a staggering underestimation of WB. I've seen a lot of opinions but none claiming Jimbei can kill WB.

WB handled Shanks 1v1 on his ship in his old age with tubes up his nose. Aokiji would be a respectable fight but WB still wins handedly.

Squard is a stellar example of WB taking a hit (from a dirty ally sneak attack btw which nobody saw coming) and still donning that stab like a man.

Big Mom has fallen on her face and has literally, literally had her butt handed to her by the weakest members of the Strawhat crew.

I personally love the lady. She has nice snacks on her island and keeps her territory very interesting and lively, but from a Yonko respect position she simply hasn't earned that this entire arc and Whitebeard earned that probably the very first time we saw him on screen.

Look, I do not hate the arc, I enjoy it a lot, but if we are talking about BM's honor and we are being honest, it was shot long ago and it just took a nose dive this chapter when she allowed Chopper/Nami/Brooke combo to make a fool of her. I do not see how she will make a respectable comeback but this is Oda so we will see.

True but if she's in the right mind then the amount of people able to fight for hours with her to get to that point and deny her food imo is basically nobody lol

The negative reactions a few select people are having (and being extremely vocal about) is astonishing. I thought this was one of the best chapters we've had in a while. The art was on point in every panel, the flow of the action was great, and the interactions of the crew's different powers with Linlin's was both logically sound, fairly clever and in every case had been foreshadowed as a possibility by a previous encounter in this storyline. Co op fights are so few and far behind in OP it's great to see another. And for the first time in basically ever a serious fight is going down on the ship, making every bit of the usual environment damage a real concern. This is good, solid action.

Like, OP hasn't been perfect these last few chapters. I voiced concerns in the vol 88 thread that the Sunny escape is a storyline that feels like it's going in circles so Oda can take the time he needs to use the cake making plot thread to wrap up subplots and give characters like Pound and Bege their final moment in the spotlight. (And Luffy taking a break from the Katakuri fight feels like a way to stall that plot thread for the exact same reason). It's awkward pacing, but it's easy to see why it's necessary, and it's a rough patch in what has otherwise been a fantastic story arc. Not to mention the December breaks lining up just right to exacerbate the feeling of slowness for us weekly readers. And these are reasonable criticisms to raise, and it's just as reasonable to point out that this chapter doesn't actually do a lot to move the story out of that stalling phase

But for me, the high quality of the action and the highlight moments we get for everyone involved makes up for it entirely. Solid chapter. Can't believe some of y'all are so salty.

That's not happening, are you seriously comparing Big Mom to Oars. None of the SHs can damage her all they can do is just stall her for a bit that's it, they're not taking her down like Oars no matter how much you think that's going to happen. The only thing that will stop her is the cake, that's the whole point of Sanji helping with the cake baking and then bringing the cake to Big Mom he's going to be the one to fully stop Big Mom and save the day.

I'm glad I didn't whine about this chapter when we just had spoiler text. The last three chapters have been throwaway for me but this one was amazing.

Big Mom was category 5 hurricane at whole cake. She's category 2 or 3 now, maybe even 1. The storm has weakened.

The chaos among fans is a sign Oda is doing a good job. The SHs design makes people think they're very weak. These guys have been through several stressful situations and they've survived it. Did you all forget Nami could fucking sense the weather? Another person that I know like that was an Admiral. If she was designed to be big like Smoothie, no one will question why she's able to handle/control Zeus. The SHs are not about power alone, they are very useful, they trust and fight for each other.

First of all Whitebeard had teh Strongest Devil Fruit in the world. The guy could cause Earthquakes and Tsunami's so of course he could level half of Marineford.

My problem with the chapter is why didn't Big Mom take Nami, Chopper and Brooks soul? The only people who are immune to it are Luffy and Jinbei since they aint afraid of her. This is just the same Bullshit as Law not using his personality transfer power on Doffy.

I like the idea that BM was conscious all this time. She still isn't in an I'll eat people alive frenzy yet,

like i said in the spoiler thread, mama is fighting enemies who have advantages against her. brook is immune to lightning and his attacks are aoul based, nami can drain zeus of his power, jinbe can shower promotheus with water, etc. if it was robin instead of nami, usopp/franky instead of brook, or zoro instead of jinbe, they won't be able to do too much things against her.

it's like luffy vs eneru/enel or mihawk who can't damage buggy during the war. eneru and mihawk certainly are not weak, they're just fighting enemies who have advantages against them, ie their natural enemy. mama's situation is the same.

Nami, Brook(especially Brook) and Chopper do not have an advantage over her Devil Fruit power though. Remember BM can literally take your soul from you if you are even the least bit afraid of her. All the SH except Jinbei were terrified when BM got on the ship.

So why didn't she just take their souls?

Whitebeard would sink the ship with one of his Earthquake punches. Easy.

My biggest gripe is why isn't BM using her soul-soul powers to incapacitate the other SH. So far only Jinbei has an immunity to it.

The SH should not have survived that confrontation.

Ok, Mama is weakened because she's very starved but this chapter makes shine the SHs for real: Jinbe shows true power (and stamina) and the rest of the crew manage to gain time, with Brook confirmed as the MVP of this saga.

Zeus will be a great power-up for Nami.

Brooke took her head on by himself. He isn't afraid of her, they were all worried about the Sunny. None of the Straw Hats showed fear in front of Big Mom.

Yea, Brook also didn't seem to be scared of her last chapter. And of course Brook has an advantage, he literally just showcased that this chapter.

As for why she didn't use that particular power, first thing she did was repeatedly ask them where the cake was, to bring it out. That's the main thing on her mind, not going straight to murdering them now that she's boarded their ship. They refused, and very soon afterwards, Jinbe knocked her off the ship. Now she's on Zeus, not exactly a position from where she can steal someone's soul, so her next idea is to simply cut the ship in half from a distance. Since she got on Zeus, she never got close to them again, so no opportunity to do it anyways.

That said, setting all that aside, it's ultimately nitpicking, because you know damn well Oda could make it so that for that one instance, the Straw Hats merely stand up to Big Mom, telling her truthfully that they just don't have the cake. Or when attempting to use Life or Treat, Jinbe interrupts and attacks her with Vagabond Drill, simple as that.

As a bonus, for Chopper specifically, judging by her comment about him this chapter, he'd count as someone she'd keep around anyways. :P

I still don't believe Nami will keep Zeus, seeing how Zeus still cares for Big Mom and will eventually go back to her when this whole thing is over. She's only going to use him temporarily, imo I want to see Nami use her clima-tact more if she ends up keeping Zeus then what's the point of using it then when you can just use Zeus instead. the whole thing with Nami and Zeus is just a gag, Zeus doesn't even want to be with Nami there will be one more purpose with Nami using Zeus but after that he's probably going to go back to Big Mom when everything is done.

Okay, we didn't move an inch with the plot (aside of maybe acquiring Zeus), not even Germa appeared, but… it was way too awesome for me to care! So as I predicted, Jinbe and Brook at least can put up a fight against BM, and what a fight that was! I love this arc official MVPs. I also really like Oda's current MO of making a fight short if they aren't Luffy's, Luffy's fights are still as boring as usual, but at least I can enjoy the remaining ones.

This whole climax happening on Sunny and Sunny itself getting damaged also makes me care for the damn ship way more. it was what Sunny lacked compared to Merry, aside of descent into FI (which isn't half as awesome as ascent into Skypiea was) it got very little attention and no important scenes after its introduction. So that'a a big plus too. On the side note, I realy hope it's not the naval battle Oda was implying he'd draw and that we'll get one were participants (mostly at least) stay on their ships.

The one nitpick: is Oda's neglect of Chopper intentional? His only moment this chapter was blocking BM's attack on Nami once which doesn't even compare to Nami's role this chapter... when Nami already got her big shot on BM months ago, Choper has nothing like this.

Anyway, my favourite chapter post-wedding which isn't saying much, but it's still something.

Honestly, I always found it super-boring when the Big Bad was faster, tougher, stornger, smarter etc. than anyone else to the point when no one could put a fight aside of MC for the final battle. Most of the battle shonens do that (well, maybe not the smartest part), so group of people using teamwork and combining their specialities (speed for Brook, defense for Guard Point Chopper, using enemies body against them for Jinbe, water manipulation for Nami) to combat such monster is really nice to see.

The only thing that will stop her is the cake, that's the whole point of Sanji helping with the cake baking and then bringing the cake to Big Mom he's going to be the one to fully stop Big Mom and save the day.

Yeah I compare BM with Oars, I mean isn't it obvious?
Nothing can stop her like nothing could stop Oars.
They also couldn't hurt Oars(I mean not even Nightmare Luffy could so anything against Oars)

I expect the cake will stop the tantrum and let regain BM some stamina!
(The cake won't stop BM like salted fish didn't stop Oars^^)

The great final could still be in Cacao Island, the place Luffy wants to go.
My expectations
-Pudding uses flashback ability and let BM remember the moment Luffy breaking the last picture of MC
(Its possible that her CoC might be weaker than the one during the wedding)
-Luffy eat as much chocolate buildings as possible and turns G4 Tankman
-Nami, Brook and Jinbei may perform a water/Ice combination to improve incoming dmg
-Chopper, Sanji and Carrot bringing Luffy Up in the air as high as possible
(Luffy can't move using Tankman)
-Luffy performs a strange attack xD

And the BMP that are left at this moment will be Händler by the Firetank Pirates, Sun Pirates and the Germa Kingdom!
(Still hoping for Big Father/Germa Megazord tag team)

Its den possible that BM will stand up again after such an attack, but than there is still the possibility of a BC!
And than an Admiral(or a VA who will become Admiral Orange Rat after this Arc) might take her out.

There are many was BM going down this Arc! But this is the idea I currently like the most)
And to be real, if Oda didn't plan to let BM getting defeated, the whole plot after the wedding would be just useless storyweise and just drag the story without real progress or not?

First of all Whitebeard had teh Strongest Devil Fruit in the world. The guy could cause Earthquakes and Tsunami's so of course he could level half of Marineford.

My problem with the chapter is why didn't Big Mom take Nami, Chopper and Brooks soul? The only people who are immune to it are Luffy and Jinbei since they aint afraid of her. This is just the same Bullshit as Law not using his personality transfer power on Doffy.

I like the idea that BM was conscious all this time. She still isn't in an I'll eat people alive frenzy yet,

Nami, Brook(especially Brook) and Chopper do not have an advantage over her Devil Fruit power though. Remember BM can literally take your soul from you if you are even the least bit afraid of her. All the SH except Jinbei were terrified when BM got on the ship.

So why didn't she just take their souls?

My biggest gripe is why isn't BM using her soul-soul powers to incapacitate the other SH. So far only Jinbei has an immunity to it.

The SH should not have survived that confrontation.

They should just send half of the crew to beat yonkous. Half beats kaidou, half beats bm, then later half beats blackbeard. Then they can meet at the end on raftel. One piece? More like piece a cake. The pre ts villains are the real yonkous, they needed the full crew to go down.

1/ Do you want Brook to let Big Mom slice the ship in half ? What's more, he targeted Zeus and not her as he knows he doesn't have a chance against her. And that's imho a brilliant strategy.

2/ Do you want Jinbei to let Big Mom continue burning the ship without doing anything ?! That's not fair.

3/ Do you want Chopper to keep watching while Big Mom kills Nami ?!

Do you want the Strawhats to keep doing nothing and let her kill them and destroy the ship ? Is that what you want? C'mon. Even after all these attacks, she stands and she continues attacking them.

Honestly, I always found it super-boring when the Big Bad was faster, tougher, stornger, smarter etc. than anyone else to the point when no one could put a fight aside of MC for the final battle. Most of the battle shonens do that (well, maybe not the smartest part), so group of people using teamwork and combining their specialities (speed for Brook, defense for Guard Point Chopper, using enemies body against them for Jinbe, water manipulation for Nami) to combat such monster is really nice to see.

I agree but oda is choosing the wrong characters here, if it was the monster trio then maybe I would accept it…

but its brook and chopper, both got destroyed by pero not too long ago, why brook speed didn't help him against pero?

if he wanted them to shine then oda should've made them look better before this...

brook and chopper are too weak to do anything against a yonko and that's a fact, their performance here make BM look bad more than it make them look good...

Brook attacked Zeus, he even said it. Jimbe pushed her off the ship and Chopper blocked a palm. But it's ok though, your narrative sound more dramatic.
