Skypiea is still my favorite arc so I'm really happy with this announcement.Calgara x Norland is still among the best of stories, of any genres.

I expect it's just that they've done everything up to that point now. East Blue is done, Baroque Works is covered by Movie 8, so Skypiea is the next logical thing to condense.

Episode of Nami was pretty good, but was rushed in quite a few spots. And now they're going to be handling another arc that's 3x the length. I really don't think these are suitable replacements for new fans at all.
There doesnt need to be focus on all of wypers men and the elimination game. I love skypiea but itd be easy to shuffle things around and keep a lot of what made it good and have that last 40 chapters.

I love skypiea but there no way they can do this arc in 2hr there far to much rich wonderfully excuted ambitions storyelling and comedy gold to fit in 2 hrs.
Skypiea is oda most ambitios arc story his done so far and one of the most ambitious ones in the genre along chemra ant arc of hxh.
They should of adapt another arc since skypiea is already beyond perfect in the anime.

Sky Island is probably among my favorite sagas, simply because of Enel, but can you really put the entirety of Jaya and Skypiea in 2 hours?
I loved episode of Nami, but Episode of Merry and Episode of East Blue were pretty rushed. And let's not speak of the Drum Island movie (what are Franky and Robin doing there), and the Alabasta Movie.
Although seeing all these characters in a fresh coat of HD painting is definitely worth my time

Well we have Episode of East Blue, Episode of Nami, Episode of Chopper (still better to remake it), Episode of Arabasta w prequel, Episode of Sky Island, Episode of Merry (yet, still better to remake it more focused on Robin) and Episode of Sabo (Dressorosa part 1)
It's legit to wait for an Episode of Foxy, Episode of Thriller Bark, Episode of Ace on Marineford (maybe in two parts: Impel Down + Summit War), Episode of Fishmen Island, Episode of Punk Hazard and Episode of Dressrosa part 2.
My bets are on Episode of TB, Ace and DR2 (the last just to close the circle).

I'm really intrigued how it's all going to fit. The Noland-Calgara story is obviously very important and that's got to be at least 20 minutes by itself. Will Jaya be done in 5 minutes? I'm assuming we'll a heavy dose of Former God Enel and maybe 10 minutes of combined screentime for the priests, with the majority of that going to Satori. Shura can get his 10 seconds to get dusted by Wiper
I'm happy my favorite arc has been made into a special but I'm not going to get too excited. A bunch of smaller details will get glossed over for sure, but what about mid-level details such as Nola eating Luffy (which leads to Luffy discovering the gold)? Are we getting the Merry inexplicably healing itself? Is Pagaya getting Thor-ed?

According to Studio Guts they said this SP is a great work of sheets so I think it is the largest and biggest one among the SP episodes at least .
About the previous … I do not remember the exact numbers but I do not think more than this one .

I feel like Episode of Merry wasn't really supposed to be about Water 7 though, it was about Merry. Like they didn't intend to condense that arc, rather they only wanted included scenes that directly related to Merry's story, hence cutting everything related to Robin and Franky's stories

First of all, this is an inbetween frame that has no indication whatsoever on the quality of the special itself, and considering that it's a special, it's bound to look good in some parts whatever the case may be.
But don't worry, the quality of the special has no bearing on the quality of the upcoming episodes. Actually, it has done its effects already on some of the previous episodes and the anime should slightly improve now that its production is done.
For example studio Guts, which supposedly handled the majority of the special is coming back to the TV anime soon. -

Dang, that's nice. Is that by Oda? Or are they just getting better at imitating his coloring style? There are parts that look like it, but others that don't to me.
I hope they use his as the cover when it comes to Germany.
