Chapter 887: Somewhere, Someone Is Wishing For Your Happiness
-
Like how Sanji had mind of serving fish lol
Along with Pudding we can do it at the end.
-
I never thought that I would ever be able to have feels for Pound
But goddammit Oda, you did it
-
Suuuupeeerrr! Thanks!
Was the a one-footed soru?
-
Suuuupeeerrr! Thanks!
Was the a one-footed soru?
I don't think so, looks like he just kicked it.
-
What did "thud" SFX describe? Sound of head being beheaded?
-
-
Damn, I can already imagine this chapter leading into a "To be continued" for the anime. But I'm gonna not make a call on Pound's "death" until a few chapters pass. One Piece likes to really play with these offscreen moments.
-
It seems Pez is Aisa MarkII

I don't think so, looks like he just kicked it.
I think he lifted it with one leg and skywalk.
-
Why Oda only puts P's to die in this arc??
Don't die Perorin <33 Kakarotto cannot with you!
-
Oven totally forgt the priority is making the cake.
-
Oven totally forgt the priority is making the cake.
To be fair they just tried to run him over he not in the right mind lol.
-
I wonder if there's a chance that Oven's ability to boil the sea comes back into play to accidentally melt Perospero's candy.
-
I think he lifted it with one leg and skywalk.
Oh, is that a different technique? I thought the soru "kicking the ground really quickly" was the same idea as the skywalk.
-
Poun D. with the smile?!
-
Oda is really going overboard with named character's implied deaths this arc, isn't he? Moscato, Jigra, Opera, Pedro, Pound. Other than EL and Galley-la/Franky Family/Giants (which was cheating anyway, since he just gathered them in one spot) I think it's the record, isn't it? The fun part is that people are still gonna believe in people dying in the future after all of them live.
Other than that, I've some mixed feelings on this chapter, it's the first one I kinda enjoyed since the Sun Pirates reappeared (and even then it was the only part I cared about), but Bege escaping and BM catching up to SHs, together with obvious Luffy's return to Mirror World in the next chapter or two makes all of this seem like useless padding, kind of which isn't welcomed 60+ chapters into the arc.

Pound' sacrifice was rather to keep Oven at a safe distance… besides it will include the possibility for Meme to drown in the sea, and that's not happening.
-
That was some chapter. I remember how most hated Bege and was the least favorite Supernova. How times have changed.

I thought the same thing. The Straw Hats escaping from the tidal wave looks like a pointless scene outside of cementing Jimbei's helmsmanship skills. But I'd like to give Oda the benefit of the doubt though, so I am still hopeful that things will stay interesting.

I know, I just figured I should mention it in case. It would make Perospero's candy weakness actually serve a role in the plot.

I wouldn't call it padding when it resolves (well, at least mostly) the character arc of an unusual character that people initially worried would be forgotten. To me it shows the caliber of a writer that Oda is, to tie up all the loose ends and themes of the arc rather than just having the important characters solve a problem. Not to mention Sanji getting another chance to shine.
-
Exactly, not only that, but to do it in a organic way so it does not feel like it is a random addition. Great stuff.
-
Pound was so good this chapter he overshadowed Bege's amazing ship and Sanji carrying the cake.
-

The way it's included is sloppy. It's just like Oda remembered he has Pound issue still to be resolved, created th situation for him to intervene and not much changed, and the comment was more directed at BM catching up to Sunny and Luffy/Katakuri delay, I mean, this Pound/Oven situation at least gave us FT joining with Cake team, though if Oven doesn't chase them, it changes very little. The story doesn't flow too well, even if I might have enjoyed both Pound's "death" and Jinbe's showing (Luffy situation is just dumb though).
-
This chapter was rather fun. Pudding and Vito's reactions were hillarious. Wonder if Bege's ship transformation is due to tech or his devil fruit awakening.
Oh right, don't especially like what Oda did with Pound. Like, nobody thought of picking up that guy that tried to help them, that is pretty much screwed now that they are gone? And where did Oven get that bisento? It appears as if it was lying randomly on the side? Just so that he can seemingly kill Pound? A knock out with a fist wouldn't be nearly as dramatic. Really hamfisted, all in all.
Other than that, it was really touching.
-
Wow, this is quite intense, I didn´t expect a live execution like that. RIP Pound, you helped saving the world.
Second casualty of the BM territory infiltration. It´s serious.
Sanji is getting his act together one cool scene at a time, chapter by chapter, but Pudding cannot even handle those small doses. She´ll probably die when he goes full Hell´s Memories or something.
I liked the chapter

Oven keeps his bisento in the same place that Pica keeps his sword.

Up his ass ?
also I guess Germa comes in to help the crew.

I mean, Oven was completely focused on Bege and co. If Pound wanted to, he could've just escaped, as opposed to Bege, who clearly pissed off Oven more, on top of being the more important target. To them, Pound is just some random guy. Hell, they didn't even know he was in danger again after they had left, danger that only occurred because Pound attacked Oven one last time.
-

I still remember the first time when a random object appeared of nowhere.
The hammer that Nojiko used to break Luffy's rock under the sea at Arlong Park. It came along with a pulmonar work beyond the average… they were holding their breath like for 20 minutes xD
Dramatic? Dramatic was Baum's death for sure, Pedro's and Pound's are pretty much like Oda saying: i don't want to draw these characters every week anymore... checks GoT, decides to kill them.
-
BMP taking the "L" everywhere they can get it. I've seen some forums calling Oven a beast, as far as am concern, he's been an embarrassment. No idea who sent him flying, got his face blown up and got crushed by a boat after saying he will stop it. The only person he has been capable of beating so far is a fodder. LoL
-
Man, Oda completely ruined dying in this manga when it's not in a flashback. Haha
No one believes it.

But it's a random guy who was practically risking his life for them. Somebody ought to notice that and maybe give a helping hand. Why the hell didn't he try to board the ship or ask them to bring him with? No reason, other than to "die" in a cliffhanger.
Also, the fact Oven knows who Pound is, but Chiffon and Pudding don't, irks me for some reason. Pudding especially. Especially if it turns out she tampered with some memories over the years.
Well, it's not like he's dead, though. He might still get his family hug with twins.
-
RIP Pound T_T That was heartbreaking. Chiffon why you gotta call him a pervert T_T Damn. Dude was even fixing his tie during his final moment. Gotta look sharp in front of Death T_T
-
Nice chapter, RiP Pound (unless… We didn't see a body, can't know for sure with Oda)! He sure managed to get the most out of a character we didn't even know an arc ago. Although on a second read yeah, I'm with Razh, the Pound sequence is rather hamfisted.
Also it's great how the Worst Generation captains are being fleshed out one by one.Can we just drop the boring Straw Hats and make this manga the story of Bege, the future Pirate Godfather ? The amphibian ship is just too much awesomeness
-

Oven is 48 years old and the 2nd son alongside Katakuri and Daifuku as triplets. Chiffon is 26 years old and the 22nd daughter. Pudding is the 35th daughter. He had plenty of time to learn about Pound's existence by being wedded to Big Mom before Chiffon, Lola, and Pudding were even born.

They didnt know that lol. You even have a chef this chapter questioning if he is Oven's archnemesis T_T. Why he didnt board the ship, who knows. Could be because he didnt feel like he belonged there.
We dont know whose memories she has tampered with. Its not like everyone is aware lf Pound. So the likeliness that she tampered with the memoroes of someone who knew of Pound is slim.
He could. But Im hoping this was the end. It was a happy ending for Pound. Sad af, but he died happy.
-
Pudding is the 35th daughter fyi.

Lol pretty sure he got it from a subordinate. There is a text bubble from someone else telling Oven tl watch out when Pound attacks.

Oooh. I just looked this up in the SBS. Nice.
R.I.P Pound.
Poor guy. His own daughters never even knew him, that was cruel. -

Poor guy. His own daughters never even knew him, that was cruel. He's fine. He had a dream to hug them at least once. Oda doesn't let characters die with dreams still in their hearts. He has to have a reunion first.

If anything? This points the needle of Pedro's status in the direction of 'Life'.

As in, both of them will end up being alive?
-
Weren't the Nox pirates in Chocotown…
-
one 'bad' thing abouy one piece is none of us believed in deaths and sacrifices outside flashback. this makes a supposedly touching moment like this one a little bit less meaningful because we all like 'nah, he'll survive that one somehow'.

This. I was hoping he learned something from the Pell and Pagaya moment but I guess I have to keep hoping.

Regardless of their age, it's all kinda sloppy to me. Totland is just one big village with a big family. I'm surprised anything manages to be kept a secret there. Some privileged members know who fathers are and some don't? Lola and Chiffon never bothered finding out who their father is? Who has been in Totland the whole time? What about other fathers? I don't like unanswered questions. I realized I might be jumping the gun a little here, but the father issue doesn't seem like it's going to be addressed that soon.
-
I need panels of Pound being a good grandpa to Pez ;-;
-

They didn't know that because it was convenient, same as it was convenient for Pound to not try to join them. Convenient if Pound was to "die", I mean.
-
Does anyone really beleive that Pound is dead, especially after Pez recognized him and Chiffon didn't? Come on guys we are 880+ chapters in, its time to get a fucking clue.
Otherwise I liked the chapter. Oven getting run over by the ship was hilarious.
I also love that Bege's ship has its own quirk similar to Sunny's Coup de Burst. Also Big Mom's singing ship.
When did Big Mom stop rampaging at Nuts island?
I like Vito's consistent fangirl moments.
Pudding reminds of Boa and how she reacts to everything that Luffy does. Compared to Viola she actually seems pretty childish. I still ship Viola/Sanji.
I'm liking seeing Jinbei together with the SH more and more.
What the fuck is Smoothie doing? Everyone else is out there getting shit done and where is she? probably drinking smoothies somewhere.
