If it-s related to wb then it-s the war between weevil, bb and luffy with marco, but luffy will have another loss here. And wait for Phoenix burgess and diamond shilliew.

So, an enemy that will hinder their way apparently before they reach Wano and will create a scenario worse than Marineford? If I got this right, then someone is going to attack during the Reverie and we might have people actually dying there? With the Neptune family, the Nefeltari, the Riku all there, I could see the fandom going crazy if Oda promises to kill some faces in there.
Not really curious about this development for now, but I hope Oda takes this chance to explain the D. meaning.
If I have to bet, though… hmmm... Vegapunk?

Indeed.. I'm thinking this could really be it. What better chance to create havoc and despair other than Reverie with lots of important people in attendance.
Vegapunk doesn't seem that "legendardy" strong to me from what we heard so far, I bet it has to be someone from the early days

ONE PIECE editor account tells us about Oda in Jump Festa. Oda spent his money to create tons of T-shirts for OP staffs. Straw Hats drawings on the shirts were all newly drawn by himself. Oda made "Animoji" via his iPhoneX for fun in restaurant after JF.

@The:Sandman in his translation says Strongest until now/to date
Well, I went with "greatest" in my translation since Oda didn't explicitly state "strongest" (最強). He used the word "最大" which means biggest, greatest etc.. As Greg said on Twitter, it's a bit ambiguous.
-
Remove the thank you for all staff and I would buy that shirt immediately.^^

The question is if it mean "until now" or not so we can know if he just means the biggest/strongest until the next big villain or means someone as big as Blackbeard but you say that it will be a new one that will introduce now so that clears some questions -

You can edit it to "THANK YOU FOR ALL STUFF" and pretend it's engrish.

It seems my translation was bad. About "introduce" thing, Oda may have meant he will introduce a legend of someone/something we've already seen before like Weevil and such whose detailed backstory has not been revealed :) It's hard to interpret from the context if Oda meant new or old one(s).
-

It's Kaido guys. It can't be anything else
-
Even though it's hard to really give a solid interpretation to Oda's statement, I still would like to throw my guess here.
The event that will dwarf marineford, while many people are thinking of a huge scale battle, I would like to suggest that maybe Oda meant the event will have a greater impact emotionally on us and Luffy, even more so than marineford. Maybe killing all the kings Luffy befriended and kidnapping all their daughters/princesses, and burning fishman island? wouldn't something like that make marineford look "cute"?
The reason why I'm proposing these ideas, is because, let's be real here, if the event is a battle/arc, that will certainly take longer than 40 chapters, which makes the chances that Wano arc happens in 2018 even slimmer.–- Update From New Post Merge ---
There's also another possibilty which is, maybe Oda is just going to introduce/reintroduce a legend IN wano, and we're all just a bunch of overspeculating people.
-
Gonna just stick with it being Kaido.
-
watch it being another oars (thus related to whitebeard since the other one died fighting for him) and he meant "biggest" literally XD
-
Well then, probably meant Kaido or Weevil.
-
@Count:
From One Piece 10th Treasures:
So not exactly last chapter, but still "final scenes". Which means at least the last saga or arc of One Piece.
First time I'm seeing this, but doesn't it heavily implies the pirate with eyepatch will be Luffy by the end of OP? "I thought, if there's an image in everyone's head about what a pirate is, then I thought I would write/draw about the process of the boy getting there."
-
Luffy already has his unique eye scar-trademark.
If i had to guess i would say the eye patch pirate would be Blackbeard.
True, i think Blackbeard didn't have an eyepatch, however Oda said multiple times that with the Blackbeard pirates he strives to create the most piratey, archetypical and classic pirate crew.
So he may give one of the most piratey and classic symbols- the eyepatch- to his most classic and beloved pirate and the archivillain of the series.
How will he lose his eye, then? It can go in many ways, but i believe the most probable way is right before he kills Shanks, so as to make the latter decent and comfort us before his demise.
-
Weevil gonna be close to Yonko level. Bet on that shit.
-
It's probably Whitebeard's "true heir" given the comment about it being related to WB. On the subject of Weevil, Kizaru was skeptical of Weevil being WB's biological son.
I've said this for a while but I think we'll have some story involving Weevil, Jack, and Marco before Wano.
Weevil is probably not WB's biological son (he has the stitches like Dr. Hogback's creations), however he is hunting down Marco and Luffy.
Jack got introduced in back-to-back chapters with Weevil. Inuarashi anticipated Jack's return, so Luffy and others might encounter him before Wano.
Marco is being tracked down by Nekomamushi to assist in their fight with Kaido. If anyone knows anything about WB having a biological son it'd probably be Marco.
Personally I think Jack might turn out to be WB's biological son, while Weevil is a red herring.
After WCI arc Luffy, Jack, Weevil, and Marco might all be in the same relative location.
-
Weevil will show up to Wano and throw Kaido into the sun, taking his place as the true Yonko
-
I've thought for a while now that Weevil is going to get throw into the story before or during Wano.
A lot of people hate his design and he definitely doesn't come across as being a primary antagonist in his own major arc.
-
I kind of want that legend to be Shiki… idk why though.
-
So, what's coming would leave a man with half-head and other with a hole in his stomach as something "cute", huh? :ninja:
Hope to be great… Marineford was boring and a let-down to what i've seen regarding wars. I enjoyed Impel Down more, and that's pretty bad for the arc.
So Oda incites us to stop beliving that Teach is gotta be the final one?? Hope is a Marshall or the thing that meant for the AK to create the AW.
-
The person should not be Kaido. We all know Luffy and co. are going to face Kaido, but Oda's comment sounds like 'giving away the plot, if i say any more….' type. There is no need to 'hint' about Kaido,he will be there. Also he has been 'active' for all these years, so doesn't fit as a 'dormant' character. But the part where Oda says their 'strongest' enemy till date will show up is a curveball; we already anticipate that Kaido is going to be that.So having a second person of such caliber in the same arc is quite surprising and complicating.
The problem with Weevil is he doesn't fit the character of 'legend' who has been dormant for a long time.He may be very strong, but his exploit seems to have started after WB's death, so nothing warrant him having gained 'legendary' status already.Worst part is his design. -
Weevil is not even stronger than Katakuri (I hate to use bounties for comparisons but his recently frozen bounty is even lower than Luffy's), let alone Big Mom. Strongest ever for the Straw Hats can only be Kaido at this point. He's the only one who stands above Big Mom. The Shogun won't be on par with Big Mom either. Most likely he's Zoro's opponent.
The legend part is confusing. Is it related to the strongest? Does it refer to a person? Is the strongest the legend?
-
It would be fun if the legend is a Roger pirate that does not agree that Luffy is Roger's man.
-
@Kai:

I actually see Weevil as more of a threat than Katakuri but not more than Big Mom herself in the future arc. There has to be a reason why the bounty is frozen. Just a segue, I'm wondering if Inuarashi and Nekomamushi will fight off against Weevil while in search of Marco.
-
@Joy:
So that legend will be tougher than the Yonko ? What is Oda doing ? Or is Kaido the center of the legend ? The Oars/Oni descendant ?
scopper gaban. thats for sure! he was foreshadowing this guy since that cover!!
-
I see some comment about the use of the word "strongest" but what about the word "lurks" ? Can we really say that some people like Kaido, Blackbeard, Vegapunk lurk the One Piece world ?
-

Why are you comparing Katakuri to someone who we didn't seen fighting?

Ugh duplicate posts. As I wrote, Oda said it's the strongest enemy the Straw Hats have faced.
-

->sounds like Buggy…
-
I think it will be the former 1st divison commander of WB pirates.
Marco, i think, is looks too young to become commander when WB first start his group.
-
Keep in mind that Katakuri is pushing 50 and surely doesn't look like this. WB was shown as a grown man in a crew he didn't look like a captain of. So if Marco's age was also ~50 (so ~10 years older than Shanks) and assuming WB would've started a crew of his own in his 30s by picking bunch of wild kids/teens without a place for themselves then everything would look okay with Marco being the first mate.
-

I am the only one thinking of legend as "sea monsters" like the one lurking around Thriller Bark?
-

Totally. It's used all the time in phrases like "a great evil lurks somewhere in the world" to refer to something that is hidden or unseen. The off-panel kings that are the Blackbeard Pirates, Vegapunk, and Kaido lurking on a "certain" island all fit that description.
-
It's the Naruto Ramen Guy.
The puppetmaster is eternal.
-
since we're going to see reverie soon, maybe the legendary guy is from the world govt? maybe leader of CP-0?
we've seen legends from the pirates (rayleigh, shiki, etc) and marines (kong, garp, zephyr, etc). so maybe the world govt is next.
at first i thought that maybe a bounty hunter but they're not relevant anymore. revo army legend is a possibility but is the revo army founded by dragon? if so, maybe it's still too new for it to have a legend already.
-
Was there anything worthy mentioning on the Bleach Panel?
-
I'm almost certain Oda is referring to this unknown character seen with Crocus, someone he hasn't revealed yet. He somehow knows Crocus, a legend from Roger's era. That Wano attire, coincidentally just around the corner.
I am the only one thinking of legend as "sea monsters" like the one lurking around Thriller Bark?
I would be very surprised if that ever came up again, felt like Oda took a U-turn expanding on that during pre-timeskip…
-
Everyone talks about the reverie arc, but is it real? I mean, where is said it's gonna be a reverie arc? It's possible it happens like the Banaro island, was just a chapter and we knew how it ended cause news.
-
Reverie has way too much to cover for just 1 chapter. I could see it being 1 volume (or roughly 10 chapters in length), then maybe ending in a cliffhanger which we learn of by newspaper.
Vivi and potentially Sabo will be there to act as the focal characters in substitute of the Strawhats.

But how can you say 2 yonkous are hidden when their territories are perfectly known from everybody

Why does Oda keep saying Kaido resides at "a certain island" that is 99% confirmed to be Wano Country at this point?

You've seen Zou now. A mist creating giant creature seperated from its pack?
-
It's not because it is unknown to us readers that it is unknown for one piece characters. We are not part ofthe story, you understand the difference, don't you ?
