Actually, Katakuri gave more orders than he followed (yeah, nitpicking).
Chapter 883: Snack Time
-
-
So after beating BM-s marco and jozu, two pirates worth 2 billion in same arc, anyone still think luffy will get stuck with 500.000.000 for a few more years 2 or 3 until wano ends
And for sure you will like this battle more when you read it in 1 go i nthe volume, because weekly reading this battle in the last 6 weeks was boring since luffy barely used gear 4 now and only got beat up until now.
And I Wonder if jimbe or sanji will still get battles this arc since luffy-s final battle is like half way now.
-
Actually, Katakuri gave more orders than he followed (yeah, nitpicking).
I meant more as in following general directives. Kill Vinsmokes and catch Strawhats.

I wonder what happens to defeated Commanders in Big Mom crew.. We didnt seen Snack yet(Oda will probably reveal in SBS or ending of this arc that he was Perospero all along but Big Mom demoted him after loosing to Supernova).
And Cracker was not mentioned even once since loosing to Luffy.
-
Opera was sure that allowing Luffy to escape would cost him his life so probably nothing good.
EDIT: Though now that I think about it, it might be just him overreacting due to Moscato's recent demise. -
-
Glad that awakening won't be achieved in this arc. Luffy will manage to beat Katakuri here by finding his weakness. Awakening will happen in Wano, where it will have a bigger impact.
-
The thing about awakening however, I think just "awakening" the awakening won't be direct powerup for Luffy, because just turning world around into rubber won't make him that much stronger. I think he'd have to spend some time to come up with techniques that'd take advantage of his new awakening powers. For now at most what I'd expect from his awakening would be him using it to counter his opponents awakening. Like in his current fight vs Katakuri, the obvious use for it would be to deny Katakuri from turning his immediate surroundings into mochi.

In the case of Cracker I think that he, along with anyone that was in the infirmary at that time, ended up buried alive under a billion tons of whipped cream and helplessly waits for help if he hasn't been dug out already.
What became of Snack is anyone's guess, however. Maybe Urouge offed him for good, or maybe Big Mom is much less forgiving towards failure than Doflamingo was.
-
Luffy will reach awakening later in the arc, when someone drop the wedding cake right before BM eats it. As everyone, enemies and allies, look with despair at the cake slowly making its descent to the ground, Luffy subconsciously turns the ground into rubber, making the cake bounce back to the plate and saving the day when everything seemed lost.

What if he could transform the floor into a rubber arm to deliver an uppercut?

So it's better to be part of Doflamingo's "family" than Big Mom's family? That's a cool difference in pirate crews' ways and styles

I hold up to the impression that something else happened to Snack. Except for Opera's incredibly convenient excuse for hiding Luffy's escape, nothing points out to BMP being punished when failing. On the contrary, we saw many of them failing and not being punished at all.
I mean, look at Brulee! A good part of the "BM Assassination Plan" was based on making use of her abilities, something Katakuri figured out as soon as he saw the fake Luffys, and she wasn't punished at all when the crew rescued her. Things went just "wtf, Brulee?" "Sry brother, they forced me" and done, past is in the past and she was just reintegrated as if nothing happened. If they can understand her case, why couldn't they understand that Opera was defeated by Jinbe? Or Snack being defeated by Urouge?
There's zero evidence being weak is something to be punished there. Also, it would be so unlike Oda to simply make up one character for nothing. I'm pretty sure he has future plans for Snack. If he simply wanted to say Urouge is strong, he could say he defeated Smoothie and then was chased away by the other Sweet Commanders. He wouldn't make up a character (and specially a top officer of a Yonkou) just for a single mention.
As for Snack being Perospero, doubt it. Katakuri, Smoothie and Cracker are all using their real names, so it would be weird if Snack was using a pseudonym like Kaido's Calamities.

Big Mom boasts about Totland being a kingdom that includes all races, with the only exception being Giants. But we haven't seen any Dwarves yet.
Now considering that Katakuri is not a Dwarf in a mochi suit, I bet everything on Snack being a dwarf. I mean come on, his food related nickname is SNACK.

Hey, there's Snack ! He's up! :-P

BM punishes opera and moscato in her rampage. IN normal mode she wants to punish lola, pound, and hates cliffon because she looks like her, and maybe brulee didn-t get punished yet because bm herself was way too busy in her ramapage& screaming mode since the wedding. And katakuri himself won-t do it because he cares about his bros, unlike BM that disrespects even katakuri.
And considering how bm treats her kids, doesn-t look like she would be too kind to someone that fails. So I-m pretty sure snack is part of the past. He was just a snack.

Well, maybe Snack is a Dwarf Fishman hybrid. One part Dwarf and one part Dwarf Pygmy Goby!

Hey, interpreting you gave me a sick idea - making armor out of surroundings. Adding weigth on for more attack strength and durability without modifying orignial body.
-
I'm still not sure about awakening, is there better place to showcase "bouncy house" than mirrorland?

You know, this arc has given us two things I'd never thought I'd see: Luffy refusing to eat and Luffy complaining about having to eat. What's next, Luffy sharing his meat? :ninja:

When I read this chapter and see Luffys arms getting massacred by Katakuris haki I remember Sanjis fibula breaking against Vergo and doesnt seem like such a big deal after all of that time.
Also I am still waiting for Sanji beating Daifuku with going all out. It has to happen. Sanji shown least from Monster Trio after time skip but now it would be the time so we can stop doubting his fighting ability and look forward with interest for incomming fights against Beast Pirates.
Without proper showing Luffys "Sanji is strong. He is worth 1000men in a fight" would not carry any weight based on his showing during this arc.
-
Nah Sanji should just stay in the kitchen, his bounty will probably decrease.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
New bounty name: Sweet prince Sanji
-
-
I like how the chapter started with Katakuri saying something like "not gonna underestimate you!" Then towards the end he was all like "oops! Guess I underestimated you lol my bad". I get it though, when you work hard your lunch break is sacred. If it gets delayed, you really can't be bothered to give a shit about what you're doing instead.
-
As for Pirates that are 1 Bilion bounties or more - I guess that for those pirates, an Marine Admiral is needed. Its what I like to think, not that I take it as a fact.
Like Jack or Katakuri being in separate leaque than most of New World Pirates, people that nobody beside an Marine Admiral should tackle on. During this chapter Katakuri shown why he is clearly superior to Doflamingo - he smashed Luffys arms with that CoA while Doflamingo vs Luffy fight, before Gear Fourth reveal, Luffy and Doflamingo were pretty much clashing with each other with some panels indicating that Doflamingo was small bit above Luffy in CoA but not outclassing him like Katakuri in last few pages.

There were some background dwarves citizens and the dwarf BMP Spinx mentioned, but I don't care, from now on Snack will be the next
victimvessel of my hopes for a relevant dwarf. -
Ever since Leo snatched away the main dwarf position from Wicca I lost all my hopes for the dwarves and any interest in them, to be honest.
-
Big Mom had a chance for a Dwarf redemption though. Honestly, I'm personally disappointed by how none of the most prominent members of her crew between the Sweet Commanders and wedding gang are diverse. They're humans or Longlegs, and Longlegs are only distinct by having, well, long legs that are hard to tell as being different from Oda's normal tall character designs. Pekoms as the only Mink crewmate barely shows up, the Snakenecks are practically background fodder except for Amande in that one Enraged Army chapter, Praline's the only mer-person yet is a background ally, and there are no giants because of Elbaf issues. So… yeah, I'm slightly disappointed.
Honestly, why couldn't have Cracker's true form been a Dwarf? That would have actually made his true form reveal surprising and wouldn't have changed the battle at all besides injecting humor and a cool character design into it.
-
On other hand, Leo's cover arc is next.
-
Oh boy, I certainly can't wait for more Dressrosa Dwarf focus…

But like…how? Big Mom and a Dwarf… there are a lot of jokes to be made there but the simplest thing to call them is physically incompatible.

My suspension of disbelief towards childbirth in this world was made invulnerable ever since I saw Otohime be both Neptune's wife and Shirahoshi's father.
We need a Giant/Dwarf hybrid in this series.

Well, they are fish down there, so probably Neptune just shots this… erm... white cloud and Otohime throw her eggs into it, maybe bath in it a little too because part of her is human as well… Now I'm trying to picture how Praline was conceived…

Well at least oda's being realistic, many place say they are diverse but almost all the managers tend to the same group of people.

And that is the issue. You can't claim the former happens when Linlin gave birth to Praline.

I think we have all had enough of our fair share of the Big Mom Pirates really being the big fat phonies lol.

A dwarf/giant hybrid who looks just like a normal person or a hybrid with a giant upperbody and dwarf legs?

Hopefully something like the latter. Although I wouldn't really mind either since it could make for a decent twist gag.

I still don-t get it what dellinger is. A human did… i don-t want to know what he did with one of those giant bull fighting fish_
-

Waitaminute… Isn't that the exact description of types like Burghess or Pica ? The latter even has the voice. Clever Oda... :ninja:
On a side note, dwarf commander Snack with a Dressrossa level of gullibility would certainly explain how Urouge pulled through.
U: "Oh by the way, yo mama said you were to throw yourself into this here red hot oven" *
S: "Did she now ? Kthxbye, here I go" - jumps - burns to a crisp - end of fight. * lava pit would have been more appropriate, but in Totland it's gotta relate to food -

Dellinger at least is just half-fishman. That fishman was just a fighting fish fishman.
I imagine a dwarf-giant hybrid is someone with a huge body and tiny limbs, or vice versa.
-
And what kind of hybrid is katakuri ? Even Oars had only 4 canines

Almost Pound.
-
Considering that Snack was shown as this giant hulking figure in the anime and they have access to Oda's WCI sketches, Snack is probably the most unlike a dwarf out of the Sweet Commanders.

But that silhouette did kinda look like a hybrid of Jack and Cracker's Biscuit Knight.

Standing on the Sunny waiting for the SH's instead of destroying it.
Then later tells his soldiers to burn it down while the Sunny is in route.Didn't order the assassination of the Smokes the moment the plan went south.
Now the Smokes are coming back to bite him.And finally, this chapter…
"I am not going to underestimate you!"
"Darn it, I should of seen your death through."That's another blunder for Katakuri.

There's been a few dwarves scattered throughout, I think at least a couple of them were implied to be her kids. If I'm remembering correctly they were in the panels where BM was in the room with her younger children anyways.
Okay found it~ they're in the bottom right.

Sunny destroyed -> SHs notice it's destroyed -> they go for another ship instead of going to place known by them
Later they're all already there. He literally did though.
The whole point of the scene was that his little "me time" is his biggest weakness (and likely a source of his strength).

The Vinsmokes were supposed to be executed when Sanji was shot. What did Katakuri try to do as soon as Pudding hesitated? Shoot Sanji.
