Pretty sure it was stored in his body, since his hand is shown splitting open when the trident appears.

Regarding that scene at the end, I think Luffy put the mirror shards in his mouth so the others couldn't tell what was happening before he talked to them.The mirror broke into smaller pieces, but even small shards are usable. In the bottom right panel, the SHs are talking to Luffy through a shard, and it has to be the same one since the mirrors in the mirror world correspond to a single real-world mirror and the SHs haven't moved from the one they're using:

Then, at the bottom of this page, there is nothing on the ground in front of Luffy (that we can see, at least):

And then the mirror shards appear on the ground along with some blood, implying that they fell out of Luffy's mouth (Nami and Chopper are also around the broken shards from before):

Luffy then lies to his crew about doing well to boost morale ("I literally can't touch this guy" doesn't sound too good after what happened with Pedro) but Jimbei sees through it.
Edit: Whoops, the pictures don't seem to be working, but I'm talking about the last three pages before the final page.
Yeah I just read that part of the chapter again, and then this thread, and this post is basically all of what I realized was happening. I guess the crew can't see his face that well or probably at all, but the face makes it sound expressive, likely, and shows the readers at least. I do remember a mirror turning back into a regular mirror (from one of the latest anime episodes?), so I wonder why this one didn't turn into a normal one. Maybe because Brulee wasn't nearby?

Just some thoughts on how an awakening might help Luffy because people are saying they can't see how it would help. You gotta get creative:
- Can use the bouncy world for more force on his attacks
- Can use the bouncy ground to disrupt, disbalance, or even launch the opponent in unsuspecting ways. Imagine Luffy kicking the ground directionally toward his opponent, causing a ripple like wave that bounces them into mid air.
- Mold the ground into rubber like shields from an attack
The thing is…Katakuri also has awakening. Im not sure how all that works when both sides do use awakening. Next thing is, if luffy goes a level higher than Kata does the same thing to outclass luffy once again. I think we have seen Kata only in his halfassed form. Now he gets a bit more serious since he will fight with his trident.

Even if you buy the easy escape from certain d, it still makes the BM pirates look stupid, thinking they are dead and they can just run free for 10 hours from now on in their lands. Pirates should know about green room and everything related to sea, even more a top, pirate, yonkou, nw veterans crew that was here ever since roger's time. Even more considering they had a fishman and first son of the sea with them, so even if ship was crushed at least jimbei would be there alive and even rescue some.

I was actually disappointed to see big mom still standing on Peros sea slug. Last chapter i thought she doesnt need peros help cause she made a homie and she actually can grab water now and also walk on it. She can grab fire/prometheus and fly on a cloud/zeus, so why does she need peros sea slug? She shall be able to walk on water :/
I dont know what i should feel about Kata vs Luffy. I like Kata so i dont want him to lose easily. He smashed luffy so many times but Luffy is still pretty much on full strength. Its like he doesnt care about katas attacks. The trident now should do some heavy damage. -

It had to be stored in his body. Its pretty long so I expect it is actually in two separate pieces put together.

He was said to have a lot of space inside of his body and was running around with treasures that Luffy, Zoro and Sanji together had problems walking with(many tons of treasure). So his DF ability had a storage to it so to say.
I doubt its same for Mochi as it is for (botomless) swamp.

It could be that BM wouldn't care one way or another and would still want Wedding Cake, or she just straights up doesn't stop her rampage and the only thing in the middle of the sea right now is BM, Perospero, and Napolean.
I think it's fair to say Perospero would be the first whipping boy. To give him some credit too, he most likely has witnessed several rampages and knows the extent to which she would rampage until given what she wants regardless if she destroyed it or not.

This is another thing I think I can buy. Nami is smart as hell, but that doesn't mean she can't be a little naive, especially when she badly would want to be believe that Luffy is alright. He's always* been alright before, after all.

On the other Hand, Nami trusts in Luffy's strength blindly, whereas Jinbe knows what Kind ofmonster Katakuri is.
I know Luffy is bad at lying, but the awkward face really gives me confuse-shivers. As if Luffy was possessed by some tenryuubito. XDI first thought Brulee controlled luffy's "voice", because he was hiding the mirror-shards in his mouth.
Glad we agree about Nami. AND I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought it was Brulee. I think my interpretation was colored by the wording in the spoilers.

I don't know, I'd say he dreads that after the Sunny is gone Big Mom will turn to him for cake and so tries to stop her with whatever argument he thinks may get through to her. After all he is a guy who swims like an anvil riding another anvil who herself is riding a tsunami and also happens to be as stable and safe to be around as a crate of dynamite on fire. So I'd find it understandable if he freaks out a tad and his words don't make perfect sense.

Usually when I read the spoilers I am always positively surprised by the art of the chapter. This time, I didn't like very much the panels where they rode the waves - which is something I was looking for.

Gonna be a long wait, but this was a good chapter overall. Loved the boss Jinbei moment! Still hoping that Luffy pulls out G4 and does something akin to Spring Hopper, hopefully able to bounce despite the mochi due to his haki armor, then pull all his limbs in, so he looks like a ball…then unleashes them all at once in a move I'm calling Fireworks Culverin. If Katakuri is using haki like Eneru, then it stands to reason, if he just lets his limbs go and randomly bounce out and around, they won't be predicted as easily and destroy everyone else around. Least, I'd like to see Fireworks return.

The chapter was pretty good this week! I really liked the spread with them going through the green room, and it is nice to hear that Jimbei is now officially helmsman!
As for the fight between Luffy vs. Katukuri, the spoilers made it seem like someone was controlling Luffy, but what everyone is saying in this thread makes more sense. AKA Luffy is enduring the pain, and trying not to have his crew worry.
Ships do stand out at sea, enough that the BM fleet was initially able to track the Sunny even after the Coup-de-Burst. Two options I can think of is that the sea is still high in the aftermath of the tsunami which keeps the BM fleet busy and restrains visibility (deep troughs that hide the Sunny from sight), or possibly they have their hands full with a rage-mode Linlin who keeps asking for her cake and must be lured to Cacao Island one way or the other. Or it's only a matter of time before someone realizes the Sunny is still sailing and the pursuit resumes.
Oh, I see. Those are interesting theories, quite indeed. I think that the first option is more likely currently, as everyone thinks they are gone for now; and no one will be looking for them, unless they spot their ship. I guess we have to wait and see.

From what I interpreted from that scene, was that he wants Big Mom to keep thinking there is a cake with the Strawhats; so he won't get into trouble with her for lying about it.

Well, by changing the room to rubber, Luffy can bounce Katukuri across the entire room as an attack, for example. (Yes, I did just thought of this, off the top of my head.)

We already saw him multiply his arms. He used that to replicate and counter Luffy's Hawk Gatling in Chapter 879.

He surfed a friggin' tsunami. With a ship. Beautiful. Also, Luffy has been amazing in the last few chapters. Not wasting Pedro's sacrifice, staying behind to allow his crew to leave, acting all captain-like, now reassuring them that all is fine, even though he's taking a beating (although Jinbe <3 saw right through it). What a guy.

Do we have any reason to believe that the Green Room should be common knowledge amongst pirates? Jinbe's painted it as specifically a Fishman Island thing, and if it were bigger knowledge then I'd think that at least Nami would know something about it.

Big Mom can't be reasoned with unless she hears that there is a cake somewhere. Destroying a cake wouldn't cause her to snap out of her craving craze, it would just cause her to continue on - and be more likely to kill Perospero to boot, since he undoubtedly lied to her - for all the logic she has, no Straw Hats likely means no cake. Peros definitely has a plan once the Straw Hats die to lead her to Cacao Island to get Pudding's cake, which he stated back when he was on the Sunny, but I'm sure he'd much rather let Big Mom play cat and mouse with the Straw Hats as long as possible in order to give Pudding enough time to bake the cake. Plus Big Mom not having a set target for the next several hours makes it more likely for her to attack innocent civilians.

I initially thought that Boss Jinbei was gonna surf on top of the wave like he did on his way to Marineford, but inside the wave while guiding the ship manually by the ropes of the sail? And then proceeds to compare the inner homie tsunami wave to "a play area for fishman kids"? This fish is probably the best inclusion to the SHs, period. S-Tier Navigator + S-Tier Helmsman + S-Tier Ship = God of the New World Seas! I don't even care about Carrot somehow surprise joining the crew at this point as long as the boss fish remains as a part of them.

Glad to see the resolution of the wave thing incorporated jinbe's role as a helmsman, besides the thought of tossing a big wave at it.
Was surprised by the luffy panel but him trying to keep both katakuri from finding out about his crew while keeping them not worrying about him is tough. I still dont think hell runaway here but a draw is looing more likely
I wonder how that timelimit will get averted, between the cake being ready to eat in 3 and luffy getting drilled by katakuri I cant see it going 10 hours at this pace.

The time frame seems to be causing a lot of people concern, but really, from how I understand it, the only thing that matters a lot is that Big Mom doesn't get to the cake before it's ready in 3ish hours. The 10 hour sailing trip might not be much of a factor depending on how Big Mom reacts to the cake.
Like, Sanji and Luffy can meet up with the others where-ever. They don't need to now hold Big Mom off for 10 hours. I wonder how quickly she can move once she gets back to Zeus…

Maybe it was just me, but Chopper saying that he's going to join Dr. Hililuk in the afterlife cracked me up. If only because we almost NEVER hear the Straw Hats talk about their backstories and loved ones unless they significantly tie-in to some sort of major arc conflict (a la Nami in Fishman Island and Sanji in Whole Cake Island). And perhaps that time when bring attention all of the coincidental connections some of them have with Roger in Zou. It's always with a serious and emotional tone in the present too. So seeing a mentor figure only get casually brought up in a situation as morbid is unexpected and funny. We never see Chopper mention Hililuk until he thinks he's about to freaking die while screaming for his life with tears and boogers spraying everywhere. Imagine if that was actually how Chopper's death played out instead of some epic acceptance of his death while reminiscing about his father figure.
EDIT: Oh yeah, Franky brought up Tom when meeting his ship coating brother in Fishman Island.
