One Piece Chapter 882: Outside of a Yonko’s expectations

Heeere's Pandaman:
! Final page:
! -
Luffy is adapting to Katakuri's observation haki.
It's WORKING !
edit: Damn, germa has no chill. Beating pandaman like that
Edit 2: Brule's story about Katakuri was awesome.
-
Honestly I like Tamago more and more with every passing chapter. It´s refreshing to see his attitude, compared to the usual "Pfff, like hell our leader/crew is going to fall by the Strawhats´"
-
Katakuri being a caring badass as usual. Brulee's description was really imposing. She's such a heckler too lol.
Nice to see Tamago isn't going to underestimate the Straw Hats.
Looks like we got another confirmed Charlotte sibling with Captain Crunch.
Intrigued to see where this is going now that the Straw Hats, Big Mom/Pero, Capone, and Germa 66 are all headed toward Cacao Island.
-
Now I realize how much of a nuisance this Katakuri can be, an opponent can't hit him and he knows where they're going to dodge to? Luffy has done great so far.
Now he's using G4 to escape Mochi trap, let's see how Katakuri handle the situation. It seems cacao island will turn to a Battlefield. Will they call truce after BM is fed and they realize Sanji made it?
-
The notra castello… the first Thing i had in mind was Cosa Nostra when i read that. But the T/N translated it already.
Do you think there is a Chance, that if Kidd's ship is being shown, that its Name would be "IRON MAIDEN"?
Kidd and Killer like Music and kidd's ability hints, he might be into "metal", so...
Nice chapter, that Shows all the fractions around WCI. The reason why the sea slugs don't work? Obviously the sun pirates and Praline. -
Well, BMP has only two competent people (Tamago, Katakuri) with one semi-competent (Perospero). It's no surprise they can't handle three groups of people at the same time. Smoothie while useless herself, was at least smart enough to listen to Tamago and not discard his opinion. And I'm not sure if the description of Katakuri's greatness was supposed to be serious or funny, but it surely gave me the biggest laugh this chapter.
-
I really like that counter-line to Luffy's last piece of dialogue in the previous chapter by Katakuri. "Most die against their will." Sets an immediate tone that Katakuri ain't having none of Luffy's sh*t.
One Piece also does not mind implicated potential gore at all. The thought of a spiraling trident going through Luffy's head is spine-chilling.
Tamago is a great asset. So glad to hear such wisdom come from the enemy side.
Germa at the end is the first time I've really uh, well, liked them. They've been okay so far to me (I liked Reiju, great style), but I dunno I was just really happy to see them coming in clutch.
Also, I find Amande, Brulee, and Cracker to all be pretty competent.
-
I'm sorry to say Count but Katakuri is just getting better and better every chapter. We now know the caring older brother trope is actually a thing and not a sarcastic retort. We now see that he has some crazy drill moves that work like moles digging holes. He actually has funny lines like "This is frustrating for me I've never been dodged so much". His opening line was epic holy…a lot of people that die do so against their will, that's like Doflamingo level of badass lines. Then we have Brulée acting as his hype man saying he's never lost a fight and he was born standing up and doesn't ever sleep lying down loool he's my favourite One Piece villain of all time, there I said it, I love Dogtooth.
Tamago's talk about arrogant leaders having their rugs pulled from under them was so cool. Pedro looks to be dead guys...does that mean Carrot is joining now?
Germa and Firetanks all in one chapter. This was a 10/10, mochi mochi better than the spoilers suggested (like always).
-
Also I forgot to mention but, when one of the SBS mentioned that Ideo´s team was still with Orlumbus´fleet until they managed to get a ship of their own… I definitely was not expecting them to get such a big ship right off the bat, especially considering they´re only four people (guess it was a gift from Orlumbus)
-

Are they travelling alongside the Orlumbus fleet? Didn't really analyse the cover page all that much just some cannon fire exchanged between some ships.

Nothing in this chapter changes if he was or wasn't.

It's stated on the cover it is the case. By the way, with Oorlumbus being the least developed, his cover story is the one I'm looking forwrd the most (it's gonna take half a year 'til we get there though).
-

I was making a reference to the new crewmate thread where Shift's theory of Carrot's chances of joining actually increase if Pedro is actually dead as that would give Carrot a will of sorts to pursue.
And if you ever read that thread you would know it can get quite heated over there lol.
-
How nice of Orlumbus to hook Ideo up with a ship lol
-

Looks like it, but they seem to be on their own on that one ship they´re riding
-
Who disabled the sea slugs?
-
Please let this flag hapen (Art by me)
-
Ideo probably the most boring SHF member

I know, just saying doubt this will change people minds on weither the death is real or not.

Who disabled the sea slugs?
The fishman .
-
Who disabled the sea slugs?
Erm possibly the fishman pirates. Chopper saw something odd earlier whilst in the submarine I'm sure Alladin and Praline are doing bits still.
-
Who disabled the sea slugs?
Sun Pirates. It's the only option barring some plot twist appearance (kinda late for that though).
-
Unless there is some hidden technique Luffy is yet to show or Katakuri suddenly becomes stupid and decides to tank a powerful attack, I don't see a way out for Luffy here.
This man requires the monster trio and that will just balance the scale.
-
Ideo probably the most boring SHF member.
What? He has explosive punches, that's interesting enough. Blue Gilly and Orlumbus on the other hand…
-

As of this chapter I think the best Luffy can hope for is to have Katakuri land on his back, after that he will probably respect Luffy and postpone their fight, because he's never been put on his back… by that time the whole thing might culminate with Big Mom finally reaching Cacao island where the cake will be served. Right now she's apparently doing some detours to other islands like nut island to conveniently stall and give Sanji and Co. some breathing space. Im with you though Katakuri isn't losing this arc might get a defeat to his pride that's about it.

He might discover emerald City. I am also curious for Hajrudin (wanna see his giant-Crew who left Buggy).

That sounds pretty dumb…

Oh I get you, until we see a body no one will believe it because of Oda's track record. But in retrospect if he is in fact alive the impact of all those emotional scenes over his death will quickly turn laughable upon any re-reads. Especially in the anime for those that still follow it alongside reading the manga.

He sees Luffy as a threat, he will not let him go.

Just giving a possible outcome of how this fight might pan out, I mean I'd like to see your thoughts on how you see this fight going. No doubt I'll repay the favour and call it dumb too especially if it consists of you suggesting Luffy will defeat Katakuri.
-

If this were some relatively chill buddy villain like Kaku or Senor Pink, I could see that maybe happening, but Katakuri is going for the throat lol.
-
I remember Orlumbus and Blue names and what they did in Dressrosa (at least Orlum), I can't for the life of me remember anything Ideo did so thats my rationale.
-

I understand that, but if Big Mom gets all happy after eating her cake then the strawhats will have officially done the BM crew a massive favour because you have to remember that they're also at risk here too from the big lady herself so if that fight continues until that happens who's to say the calm and collected Katakuri won't relax his stance on them too?
-
yeah Fishman pirates disabling the sea slug is almost a given now.
Also count, in this chapter, Katakuri observation haki was used nonstop by Oda beside the awakening part. Are you still disatisfied
I'm still puzzled by luffy using gear 4. I don't see how it can be the solution in this fight.
-
Cool chapter! Nice visuals and coreography during the fighting bits, liked Tamago being the voice of reason while Mont d'Or resists admiting that maybe they're underestimating Luffy and co. Even the Germa spread was cool, with the added benefit that no heavy hitter was defeated yet (I know many were expecting to see Smoothie among the pile of defeated soldiers. . .). Well, except for Captain Crunch. Poor fella.
Only thing I'm iffy about; so the giant wave was actually done with Perospero's candy and not actual water? And he says he "made it", so what did Big Mom really add by giving it a soul and controlling it? If Pero can create a giant mass of candy and throw it against the SH's in the form of a wave. . .was the soul thingie necessary?
-
What? He has explosive punches, that's interesting enough. Blue Gilly and Orlumbus on the other hand…
Fighting with bowling > explosive punches
And I'm sure Jaime only meant the captains, otherwise Boo would take the title no contest.
@Roronoa Zacho:He might discover emerald City. I am also curious for Hajrudin (wanna see his giant-Crew who left Buggy).
I wonder if he has Gerth in his crew.
-

He even said it himself. I need to kill Stawhat before he becomes an existence that will seriously threaten Mama.
-
I dont understand
In the last chapter the wave was given a soul…but looks like it died after crushing in the rest of the ocean
And in this chapter it is the candy monster carrying BM and Perospero who has a soul -

Katakuri is trying to prevent the future. He doesn't care about now.
-

Haha, I'm aware but read what I wrote in another post and let me know what you think. Would strawhats making Big Mom stop raging change anything or will they remain hell bent on killing them? (Just food for thought, I'm not trying to say anything like it will definitely happen this way)
-

Unless BM herself say they should let them go, Katakuri will not stop.

Yeah I get where you're coming from he sees Luffy being a big obstacle from Momma achieving her Pirate King dreams someday so he wants to nip it in the bud while he has the chance. Same way Akainu wanted to do that in Marineford. But I'm mostly asking the question of whether Luffy will earn Katakuri's respect during this fight and I'm guessing your answer is no, which is fine.
-

I would be so dissapointed if that happens. We are already too far away in the One Piece story-wise for Luffy to be able to just hit Katakuri's pride.
It's time for him to able to defeat High-end pirates,if not Yonko themselves .I mean, wasn't the time skip meant exactly for that ? If that's not the case then we should expect another one before Luffy goes after Kaido. -

The respect is there already, no one as dodged him as much as Luffy.
-
Unless BM herself say they should let them go, Katakuri will not stop.
She also told him to stand down during the wedding ceremony and not try protect her but then she went all Looney tunes so he didn't really have much of a choice but to continue to act. Once she regains her senses she might become reasonable. Not like we haven't seen a reasonable side to her many times. Letting Pedro go in the past, allowing Jinbei to do a complete U turn on spinning that death roulette…
-

Ideo is the only dude from the grand fleet that lost against a doflamingo family member, Dellinger. It was disappointing
-
The respect is there already, no one as dodged him as much as Luffy.
To sum up what I'm trying to say: Luffy will continue fighting to Katakuri to the death until all the cake stuff is done and when Big Mom regains her senses maybe she will tell them all to stand down? I mean what will baking the cake actually achieve if not something like that if they're just going to run away and have them chase after them anyway, what changes with the completion of the cake and satisfying BM?
-
I dont understand
In the last chapter the wave was given a soul…but looks like it died after crushing in the rest of the ocean
And in this chapter it is the candy monster carrying BM and Perospero who has a soulIt seems that the homie was just a "wave" of Perespero's candy, but in being a huge wave, it still effects the water around it. So when we saw it last chapter, it was around with a ton of water from the wave it created. Now that the wave crashed, the homie candy wave is still around, but with less of the water it used as it first appeared.

Gear Fourth is not that long lasting..
-

Fought par on par with Sai (were simultaneously KOed by Luffy and Chinjao for being in the way), fought (and lost to) Dellinger, helped try to stop the birdcage… Well, not much.
Back in the day I was wondering who would have won, Sai or Ideo, on a fair and square match. But I came up with the answer before Sai was upgraded to haki feet Don Sai.
So... Ideo is a boxer, so (I´m going to speculate a bit, please humour me for a minute), which as far as I know means
-He fights up to a certain amount of time per match, a couple hours at most, right?
-He is not meant to kill his opponent, as he fight for sport. So I guess he holds back to a certain degree after reaching a certain level of power. Then we have Sai
-Literally part of an army
-Probably has killed people in combat
-Battles are way longer so he has probably a lot more of stamina/enduranceSo, IMHO, Sai would definitely defeat Ideo
Ok that was quite unrelated but I am on a chatty mood today :B
