! Let's take a moment to appreciate a couple of the Big Dumb Pirates:
– Perospero, who from his perspective has been staying as close as possible to the woman who promised to end his life for lying. (Pudding's actions don't change that.)
-- Big Mom, who from her perspective is about to destroy the ship and people who took her cake.
Seriously, how do either of them currently see themselves as having a happy ending?
Anyway, water + still unbroken mirrors = Luffy's help next chapter; Jinbe's just gonna have his hands full on the outside.

Man, a lot of people were hoping for the culmination of Sanji's badassness in a fight, but to me, just seeing him in his natural element is the coolest thing ever. The same could be said for the other Strawhats. While fighting and cool moves are indeed an awesome thing to look at and speculate, I feel like one thing that Oda takes measures in that a lot of people overlook are the SH's individual specialties and why they are their perspective roles on Luffy's ship. It's just one of the many things that make this series stand out from many other shonen.

I absolutely adore Uholisia (Sai's ex), she's an absolute riot. She lets more men into her life than Baby 5, who'd've thought?

Really neat chapter. Cool to see the cake baking getting fully underway. And I don't know why, but I also got a kick out of Big Mom just surfing on the giant tidal wave which itself looks chill af…it's just utterly ridiculous and I love it.

Yeah yeah we know the Straw Hats are gonna survive, but how is the kicker. Luffy needs to think of a surefire way to defeat Katakuri before he can go Gear Fourth, but who knows how feasible that'll be. I wonder what shenanigans Brook, Jinbe, and the Sun Pirates might be able to pull to deal with that wave. Dammit Oda, after all this time I'm still hooked for more!

This is what happens when Luffy is not focussed on a fight. Same thing happen at Enis Lobby. He was more calm and focus when Ussop said they're all safe. Anyway, am not worried about the wave with Nami and Jimbe on board. Nami will show her talents again. I wonder what the cake will do to BM? Hope it doesn't turn BM to stage 5 clinger on Sanji.

No way in hell Luffy is able to beat Katakuri this time around, unless oda gives him some kind of absolute asspull powerup. Katakuri deserves a long buildup and hype, it would totally ruin his character if he's going to cough blood in next chapter or so. Cracker was completely different situation, arrogant asshole who's only purpose was to exist as a showcase of Luffys strength.

The situation looks really dire. However, Jinbe is suspiciously absent from panels, which might mean he's already preparing an attack. Something that can at least offset that wave. What use is a water manipulator on board if he can't do that much. Luffy and Zoro managed to put a hole inside a wave roughly the same size, pre time skip, and they sure as hell couldn't manipulate water.

In other words, I'm so hyped to see what Jinbe can really do when he tries. :happy:

He has not used gear 4 yet so maybe there is something for him to even the odds or get away .

It won't be an asspull. Why is Katakuri struggling to defeat Luffy all this time? This is the situation time and time again, they can't beat him. Aokiji and the poison guy at Impel down are the ones that have truly taken Luffy to a state where he can't move again. If Katakuri is serious about killing him, then beat the hell out of Luffy.

My point is Luffy can take it, can Katakuri take it once Luffy figure him out?

The reveal about how much husband she already has is great. So is Sai's ex the female Cavendish or the young Big Mom.

Pudding over the top reaction are priceless. Wether it is burning on fire or flipping the finger while monologuing.

So those Long Neck Siblings gets a formal introduction now and I'm not sure if it's a mistake or not by Oda ever since it was revealed in the latest SBS volume but it seems Joscaporne is the '29TH' daughter of the Charlotte Family in this chapter, so what does that mean for Praline's birth position?….
I just hope some fan questioned him about this in the next SBS volume and hopefully, it will be corrected.

I think that Luffy might be able to break even with Katakuri in a way which allows him to escape, to stretch himself through the mirror into sunny and break it behind him or something like that. He could also go all out and give katakuri somewhat decent challenge, but given the current setup I just can't see any way Luffy could defeat him. Imo Oda portraits Katakuri as a total monster, his strength feels way more absolute than with anyother enemy so far. Dunno, atleast I get that kind of feeling.

Luffy displaying any kind of competency outside of battle is always refreshing and shows that he's not just some one-dimensional idiot that a lot of people assume he is.

Katakuri will be subdued somehow. Luffy needs Brulee to get out of Mirror world. Luffy won't be coming into the sunny. Rabian will drop both Luffy and Sanji off.

When Luffy does go all out, I'd expect him to at least pull even with Katakuri in some kind of way. It's not an insult to Katakuri - he's strong, but below the level of the people Luffy is intending to take out and his role is to provide a good challenge in preparation for that. The problem is that Luffy can't go all out with 3 hours to go before they have a chance of solving the problem with Big Mom - if he does not manage to make his one use of Gear Fourth count, he's done for. Hopefully this inspires him to come up with some other creative way to keep himself in the fight, like when he ate Cracker's biscuits.

I slightly disagree with your opinion on Cracker. I felt he was more there to showcase the power of a Yonko's commander, and sizing Luffy up against him was a way to accomplish that (so I agree with you to an extent). He certainly was no pushover, and Luffy would have very likely met his end without Nami's help. So Katakuri, who not only has a higher bounty than Cracker but also seems to be regarded as stronger, probably should not go down to just Luffy (unless he awakens or finds some other way to power-up) right now either.

Is it just me, or has the art quality seemed to have suffered this chapter?

Against Doflamingo our Luffy was slowly loosing before getting into Gear Fourth.

Now Luffy is getting destroyed with one heavy hit after another landing on him.. its painful to look at him getting beaten like that..

That said I think that Luffys Gear Fourth will only even the odds for him making it very close fight with Katakuri loosing just slightly.

At this moment it looks ubelievable for Luffy to win but I believe he will pull it through with skin of his teeth.. Katakuri does not have willpower that Luffy has and that will be deciding factor in my opinion.

Awesome fight for ending of an arc. But maybe Oda will give us something even better with Sanji ? Jeez.. it could happen but I do not want to get my hopes up..

Damn…. things have not looked this bleak since Sabaody. How the hell are they going to hold Big Mom and Katakuri off for 3 hours? Just how? Luffy only has one use of Gear fourth, and he shouldn't use it immediately imo. He's going to have to come up with a new move or powerup to deal with Katakuri. Jinbei was noticeably absent in the later panels, maybe he has a plan for the wave. I'm also glad to see Sanji being the one who came up with the directions for the cake, just shows everyone how skilled he is on top of his fighting prowess. Best part of all is no break next week, can't wait!

So this chapter reassured as yet again that Katakuri cares for his siblings, and I remembered th scene when Luffy uses Arlong's man as a shield (an act you'd usually consider villainous). So, wouldn't it be nice if Luffy used hostages in this fight? I doubt it will happen, but certainly it'd be refreshing.

He first revealed the birth positions of Joscaporne and Mascaporne, along with their names to a fan's question in the recent SBS volume and I'm sure a lot of people here in this forum pointed the mistake out. I really facepalmed so hard that Oda didn't realized the mistake and introduced Joscaporne with that birth position number.

Interesting and intense chapter. The Sanji side of things is picking up momentum, looks like "offensive cooking" may indeed be the sort of treat we've been waiting for to reward all the downs he's had this past year.
Seeing how dire the pursuit/Kata situations are does redeem the BM pirates compared to the first half of the arc.

Smoothie is still MIA though, it could well be Oda even forgot her existence :ninja:. Hopefully we will eventually hear about the Germa / Bege teams (and how they wiped the floor with her ? ). Curious to see how Caesar fares, too.

On the Big Mom front, I'm not sure how I stand about her being (apparently) able to create a homie from the ocean waters. I'm hyped that she gets to corner the Sunny this way, but the ocean is maybe the only thing I'd have expected her Devil Fruit not to work on… How exactly DF powers interact with the sea is still unclear to me (and yes, I do remember Aokiji can freeze sea water but since it's mere physics at work it didn't bother me too much).
Also, for someone on a mindless rampage, Peros and the pursuing fleet have been remarkably safe at her side. I'd have preferred if they displayed at least some level of unease, or if she snapped at them every now and then.

I hope next chapter sees some awesome move by Jinbei / Nami / the Sunny Team - I'd hate for the wave situation to be solved by a deux ex machina surprise savior.

I must say I also expect that Smoothie was taken out by Germa - team up of all of them could do the work is Reiju herself managed to poison her for a moment in their short clash.

Also I must say that Ichiji is pretty damn strong even if he fallen to Katakuri in few panels - he landed really nice hit on Perospero face while Pedro was unable to land any blow at all and went under Perospero shoe in 2 panels. Perhaps they have some futuristic weapons in stock that they will start using spreading riot on Big Mom waters.

Germa Kingdom should play crucial role in Strawhats escaping Big Mom territory waters. Its fleet of allies, Oda will most likely use them VERY soon.

i fail to see jinbe alone being able to contrast something like that..and the sunpirates are not there and can't just magically appear.
also,to manipulate water he has to be in the water,meaning that he would be left behind…sure he can swim underwater and stay undetected,but

they must do everything in synchro,they can't stay in a place waiting for him to return
can someone swim without a logpose in the grand line? do the currents shifting and such influence a fishman too?
