What has been the most relevant non-Straw Hat character to come from each arc?

Non-Straw Hat characters, whether realized at the time or in hindsight in regards to the arcs they first appeared in, that you feel have gone on to have the most relevancy within the series. They don't even have to have necessarily had large roles within the arcs they first appeared in, so long as they appeared in the first place. My choices would be:

Orange Town Arc - Silvers Rayleigh

I'd place Buggy there. Rayleigh got just a few panels in a flashback and wasn't even named, so I consider this just a cameo and not his debut.

Loguetown Arc - Monkey D. Dragon

I'd say Smoker, but this is a difficult one. Dragon IS a pretty important character, but he has done far less in the story than Smoker so far.

Arabasta Arc - Daz Bonez

Like others said, I feel Mr. 2 has been way more important to the overall story.

Skypiea Arc - Enel

I'd say Montblanc Norland. His legacy came back in Dressrosa and we may still see more of his adventures.

Post-Enies Lobby Arc - Thatch

I'd place Garp there. That's his official introduction in the main story, only having appeared in Cover Stories before.

Thriller Bark Arc - Shimotsuki Ryuma

This is a hard choice. Oars, Moria and Ryuuma were all very important.

Sabaody Archipelago Arc - Trafalgar D. Water Law

I'd put Rayleigh there, but without him counting, I end up agreeing with you.

This is not about being close to be a SH, only relevancy to the overall story. In that case, Enel is above Wiper and Aisa, the later ones had zero impact after Sky Piea, while Enel's Moon Adventure turned seems to be very important. However, I feel Norland surpass Enel in relevance.

Both will most likely play future roles in the story more so than Mr. 1.

He's treating as their first ever appearance (hence Rayleigh in Orange Town) and technically Mr. 2 has a single page in Little Garden. That's why he's not there.

I wasn't talking about Crocodile, I was talking aout Mr. 2. If that's the only appearance of Mr. 2 before he appears in Alabasta then I absolutely wouldn't count it and would question why Mr. 2 isn't your chocie over Daz Bones.

Yeah, thread would be better if you were less fussy about their exact first appearance and rather associated them with the arcs they're actually associated with. Mr 2 and Crocodile aren't Little Garden characters lol.

I think it's kinda inherently flawed to begin with how Oda uses flashbacks, cameos, etc., but I think I've made it as straightforward as I could regardless. Either the chapter has them appear right in the flesh, or it doesn't.

But does anyone ever feel like Bon Clay and Jinbei have done more for Luffy(personally) than alot of the other Straw Hats.

Both Jinbei and Bon Clay went to extreme lengths to protect Luffy.

While for the other Straw Hats, its Luffy who usually goes to extreme lengths to protect them.

For example, What have Ussop, Nami, Chopper, Brooke, Franky and Robin ever done that could ever be comparable to what Jinbei and Bon Clay did for Luffy in Impel Down/Marnieford.

Heck, Jinbei is the only Straw Hat who has ever seen a shattered Luffy and emotionally and mentally comforted him. Not even Zoro has ever seen Luffy with his will utterly broken.

Anyway, the only reason I thought of this is because I saw Ivankov being given the role of most relevant character in Impel down.

Yeah, questions like that keep things interesting after all. Jinbe aside, I’d say Bon Clay was pretty relevant at Impel Down if only for getting Luffy through the icy woods and opening the gates for him. Crocodile seemed more relevant though for his actions at Alabasta, Impel Down, and Marineford though.

I agree about Bentham.

His role and two acts of sacrifice have elevated him to a place above Zoro and Sanji.
