New One Piece Movie: RED (6th August 2022) !!

I imagine that Film RED will fall into that sort of quasi-canon status that every movie since Strong World has more or less fallen into.

Strong World is more special than its subsequent movies. 1- Oda was actually credited as main writer on SW, not just as a creative supervisor like in the rest. 2- Shiki and Indigo are confirmed canon characters while neither the characters created for the other movies nor their backstories were confirmed canon. 3- Oda released a special canon chapter (chapter 0) in shonen jump for Strong World which didn't happen with the other movies.

So this brings the question of how similar Red will be to SW in the aforementioned aspects or if it will receive the Z/Gold/Stampede treatement instead.

While SW is basically up to each's interpretation, about the successive movies I indeed came to the conclusion both the villain and their intake on storyline are canon, but the single movie indeed not. The point is all of them has canon infos (or spoilers) in them, as Kuzan's post timeskip appearance and timeline (his Marine joining age has been confirmed in the Vivre Card), Lucci's full appearance, Laugh Tale and Roger's son scene.

So, imho Zephyr indeed existed in OP and did trained the whole new Marine generation and probably left Marines after ?Weevil? cut his arm then vanished from worldwide radars, Tesoro indeed hold relationships with Doffy and CP0, while Bullet actually sailed with Roger's crew (pretty useful he left right before Oden joined, so timeline is pretty safe for it).

I am pretty much sure RED will end in this whole too.

It is safe to underline that even "Written by Oda" doesn't mean anything for canonicity, as One Piece: World Seeker's plot was indeed claimed to be one and yet doesn't fit anywhere in the timeline.

Late reply, but agreed. Shiki still receives manga mentions and cameos to this very day. You don't see the same treatment for Tesoro or Zephyr, who might as well not exist.

That's crazy to think it has that many pages of storyboards. I'd rather learn that's the case so I get the impression they're planning a great film rather than the likes of what comes out of Hollywood as of recent.

I'm hopeful this is going to be a significant One Piece film beyond being a success at the box office (one audiences will come back to repeatedly due to its content and what it confirms for the One Piece world). Those are my hopes anyway

Most people seem to want this, I'm in the opposite category though, well seeing a group of people who are super experienced in martial arts and haki would be cool, I really like all the wild powers Oda comes up with for his devil fruit users more

Major punk vibes from the snippet. This and the UK flag make me think of Lord Raptor lol.

Brook has the best design, with Zoro and Robin coming afterwards.

Usopp’s hat, Franky’s mask, Jimbe’s ponytail and Luffy’s tricorne are cool…but not enough to save their looks from the feeling that I’ve seen them before. Nami and Chopper are maybe the weakest designs. Sanji is just...there, I guess.

I liked the jacket (which seems to be concealing her wings...?) but it's so present-day modern that seems a bit off. I mean, compared to what OP usually brings when it comes to looks and fashion. Hell, even OP's cyborgs are more in tune with steam punk and victorian inspired designs than more modern stuff.

Ok, so we get from the teaser a score, the idea of a menace that can bring grace and salvation or lock someone up and seems to be sound based, and our co-protagonist (maybe villain...?) uses headphones and looks like modern school girls...are we rocking something akin to greek's sirens? K-pop angel band? Oda's take on idols? Oda played with the angel concept with Conis and her harp, maybe we are delving into that now. I spot an "U" in the jacket, maybe she is the Uta (song) crew? Fun stuff, hope we get to know more about setting and to see some actual animation next time.

I compared her to Haruna from Tenchi Forever half-jokingly but her desire for Luffy to quit pirating has me considering it more seriously. She either has a strong anti-pirate stance, or, much more likely, she wants Luffy specifically to stop. From there it's not too big of a leap to think she has an affection for him, and as for why that is, projecting feelings she previously had for Shanks would explain things neatly and finally start tying her story to his.

Stretching things a bit further (and getting far less likely) maybe she actually hypnotizes Luffy (in her case via singing) into thinking he already has a blissful domestic life with her. Biggest problem with this is it would mostly put Luffy out of the action, and then when is he going to wear all the outfits we've already seen?

Movies tend to skew a little more with having modern-day things than the manga's storyline, like the cars in Film Gold.
