It's not as good as the Sanji-rejecting-Judge episode falling on Father's Day, but an episode featuring were-animals falling on Halloween is fitting.

Super disappointed with the moon scene it was not even focused, it was a beautiful scene yet it was so ugly in the anime ,😡😡😡

They focus so much on the sulong transformation scene it is so disappointing 2/10

I agree, the moon scene was highly anticipated and I was picturing Kaido's body sliding and moving up and shows the moon but what we got was a still shot.

Of course Toei would find some way to ruin one of the most highly anticipated hype scenes of the arc. :getlost: Sometimes I genuinely wonder why I even bother with this anime lol. And Christ on a bike, Shinobu still hasn't untied Momonosuke?!

Yeah, there were some nice shots of Kaido, but it was all static. Sorely lacking for animation this episode. Kind of a bummer they didn’t kick Roof Piece off well. Storyboarding and direction was messy, too.

Sometimes I feel like storyboarding is the most crucial position to making an episode look good.

Yeah this was… kind of a nothing episode. Also, they put the big money shot right there in the opening yet even said big money shot only looked so-so. At least we got a bit of Thurlow animating Dragon Kaido which is always cool but... that was really about the only part that actually was cool and it was super brief.

Ofc, especially for an atmospheric episode like this and with limited animation. Direction and compositing are equally important.

I'm not surprised about the moon shot but in this case i'm not blaming toei too much because its a difficult shot to get right. The choice to zoom out from the moon all the way behind the scabbards was perfectly fine in and of itself. Takashi otsuka would have done wonders with this shot, by utilizing 3D like he did in zou and stampede. The lighting was basic too, if they did something more interesting compositing-wise, it would have made a big difference.

I feel like the real problem of the moon scene is the cut from the dragon spine rolling to scabbards then to the still shot. I mean, if they did scabbards first, then the dragon rolling which lead to him take the pose of the still shot, it would've looked more fluid and natural.
