One Piece Episode 995 Preview
Great episode. The anime did a great job on the big Kaido and Orochi scene in the episode. Also I like the expansion on the Kanjuro and the Akazaya samurai stuff.
Great episode and the preview for next one looks even better. Roof Piece is almost upon us and honestly im more hyped about the anime at this moment than the manga.
Could this be, like, a contender for the title of single dumbest thing anyone has ever said? Kaido is one of the strongest pirates on the planet and this imbecile thinks he can intimidate or talk down to him? Like, really Orochi, what did you think was gonna happen here?
…This is not really a criticism of the writing though. Orochi has never struck me as anything but an idiot who's too big for his britches. It's just funny to me that he thought this would in any way end well for him.
Fantastic episode. Really hit home in all the right ways.
Framing the climax of Kiku and Kanjuro's duel on a theater stage with a the audience bursting into applause as he falls and expresses his validation as an actor was such an inspired directorial choice. Aside from the tired and cliche emotional gaslighting at the start of the fight that's been done so often in media that I can't do anything but roll my eyes and groan at anymore their confrontation was otherwise 10/10 and really elevated the material.
! Of course all the pagentry's a little hollow given that Kanjuro's not actually dead and is just playing possum, but that's an Oda problem, not an anime one.
