@Robby:
You're missing the entire fun of it.
This super powered, child of a yonkou monster that can single handedly wreck armies… is only the apprentice. Great in combat, but zero sailing experience.
The same way people comment "I can't believe Zoro is only the number 2, how crazy is the captain?" or now with Jinbe and his "yeah I was a Warlord but I like my humble Helmsman title more." or how Usopp, the weakest member of the crew, is getting one of the biggest reputations and highest bounties. and had THE highest reward when Doflamingo put out bounties in Dresserossa.
It being a contrast, and unexpected, is why its a fun road to go. And the series is entering endgame so its not like its a gag that has to last long term.
I do like the idea of Yamato being on the ship, because its this whacky Kanabo wielding powerhouse that has the same raw energy that Luffy brings to the game. The only issue is unless we find they have some ability that is coincidentally useful to the crew, then it breaks the mould that Oda used for the nine members prior.
This is one of the main narratives we used to establish whether or not Jinbei could be part of the crew some years ago.
@Zik:
Oden was aware of what could happen as well and he still stayed on Roger’s ship.
How was he aware of that possible outcome? He left to explore his dreams with the knowledge that the scabbards, Toki and Orochi were there to manage the country and his family. Its this carelessness that resulted in the destruction of Wano, the death of his wife and ultimately the loss of his life.
You'd imagine that after 20 years of suffering, the entire citizens of Wano would look for stability and safety. This isn't achieved by Yamato leaving the country. We haven't even addressed the internal guilt that they would feel knowing their father had killed an icon and destroyed a country. Yamato might be headstrong, but would probably feel a degree of responsibility and regret, in a similar sense to how Jinbei felt about Arlong.
@electricmastro:
For one, Denjiro has had experience as a yakuza boss leading over groups and is a clever planner such as fooling Orochi with the fake assassination attempt. Doesn’t make sense to say Yamato is more of a professional expert in being a leader than Denjiro since she hasn’t really done things like that for as long as he has.
I don't value his experience in being a Yakuza. It just puts him on the same level as Hyogoro.
It was Yamato that acted as Momonosukes father/advisor in snapping him back out of the despair and toward being the strong individual the country needs in time of crisis. Now this might be a small moment, but who else holds that title?
Another example of Yamato being a guide was when they directed Momonosuke toward making flame clouds in the effort to save the country.
We also have the speech that Yamato gave, stating that Momonosuke is "crucial towards guiding the world towards the dawn". If he is crucial, then wouldn't it make sense to support this?
@King:
Good. Hiyori is his sister. And Sukiyaki is his grandfather.
Sukiyaki is dead.
@King:
Yamato left Momonosuke defenseless when Kanjuro and Kaidou were aiming for him, leading to Kiku and Kin'emon almost dying. And then left him alone again because of the whole bomb plot, when he begged her not to go.
And this is where Yamatos good judgement came into play, which not only stop the island exploding, but also showcased their ability to make hard choices under highly pressured environments.
She's just as unreliable any of those people by your "blunt interpretations".
Yet has done more towards protecting and developing Momonosukes character than most, despite being in his life for less than a day.
I'm also not sure how many of those people will be necessary to become daimyo. There are already the yakuza bosses to take care of the regions.
Well it doesn't matter all that much, as everyone's role will be to help rebuild the country. But it is a nice gesture for the work they have done.
@King:
All the Scabbards have studied and trained to get into those positions. They pretty much went through aide training.
Yamato literally spent years of there life in a cave being raised by former Daimyo of Wano that were loyal to Oden. The importance of this scene really shouldn't be overlooked.
Denjiro, Inuarashi and Kikunojo are all noted to be quite intelligent too. Denjiro was even Oden's finance guy and acted as a teacher to the other Scabbards.
Their is no denying the history and skillset of some of the scabbards and alike, but none that directly stand out as much as Yamato in terms of strength, knowledge or history.
I think the main issue really stems around the fact that Yamato wished for freedom because it not only fed into the character that Oden was, but also allowed them to escape their father. With Kaido gone and Odens ambitions to open Wano made real, it leaves Yamato with the freedom to choose their own path.
I also love the idea of Yamato and Otama reminiscing about Ace together. Gotta get them good feels in…
@electricmastro:
People are talking of Yamato as if she’s better at that than they are. Have we seen Yamato be a better teacher than Denjiro has?
Yes, several times.
