So, it looks like they're keeping the other areas a secret. And the main villain, unless it's that giant statue thing.
Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...

I'm inclined to believe there isn't one, really. But I was glad to read that 3-4h of gameplay doesn't feel like a scratch in the surface of the game
-
Ever since the game was announced I thought this new Adio Suerte character would be the final villain. Which could still easily be the case.
But it's cool how they're leaving most of the plot a surprise, including the other "memory" areas.

Here's a thread with links to a bunch off previews journalists got to play.

General impressions are very positive, which is nice and even surprising for an anime game. That comment about Alabasta feeling "alive and immersive" should put most people's worries at rest after World Seeker's fiasco.
-
Marineford will be in the game as a memory.
-
Well, damn, guess we were wrong. Wonder how that's gonna work.
-
Welp, Luffy reliving this moment with the Strawhats giving him strenght could be a hell of a moment. Hope they milk it right! It makes me sad that Jimbe isn't in the game, though. Perfect moment for him to shine!
-
I'm really hoping Jimbei (and maybe Law) are DLC, plus maybe additional attacks from Onigashima or something
-
So, taking a closer look, I don't see Brook in that picture. Maybe it's tied to the altered memories?
-
@Johnny-B-Decent I noticed that too. I'm thinking they might be doing the jrpg thing where you don't get all the party members right away. Alabasta and Water 7 only have the 6, looks like Franky joins for Marineford. Maybe Brook joins after that?
-
My guess is that Franky becomes playable in the Memory World once it transitions from Water 7 to Enies Lobby. I would guess something similar for Brook?
Also, since Robin is already playable in Alabastra, I guess she's not going to be a Baroque Works member in that portion?
-
It’s weird that you start with seven crewmembers and add only two more for the rest of the game. One of the appealing things of an RPG (which One Piece itself perfectly replicated) is gathering new party members throughout the game.
-
@Kaiolino What is even odder is all nine Straw Hats are fully playable in and around Waford, it's just these memory things where the division happens.
-
-
uuugh, so they are just going to repeat PW4's story bits and call it a day? bummer
Marineford looks...empty. Hina, Tashigi, Sengoku, Garp, Marco, Whitebeard, Ivankov, Kuma, Doflamingo, Mihawk, Boa, Galdino, Buggy...there's a lot of starpower to choose from to end up with only 3 Admirals and 2 Shichibukai.
-
I'm curious if there's a Final Dungeon area once you're done with the six memory zones where it's like a big mish-mash of all the other locations and villains from Don Krieg to Blackbeard. That would be interesting.
-
This trailer raises an interesting question for me. So we know the previous arcs will have memories not play out exactly as they were, which I think is a great concept as it enables you to relive familiar ground in a new way. And this trailer just shows this best with the Strawhat Crew being at Marineford with Luffy. But that's not what I find the interesting question. What I'm talking about is that if the Strawhats being playable during Marineford because they accompany Luffy is a thing, does that also mean that Luffy confronting Doflamingo with Law and Sabo mean, that those two guys will be playable (again) too?
-
@Ivotas https://opflag.bn-ent.net/system/guest.php
It seems that, yes, there will be guest party members in certain sections.
-
How easy will it be to change costume design? Seeing the same signature outfits just doesn't sell it as fresh experience...
-
O-ho-ho, my boy Crocodile somewhat playable as a guest character. Me like. Thanks for confirming that. Pity that Jinbei is just a guest character though.
I wonder if Vivi might make it as playable guest character. She has been criminally under utilized in One Piece games for the status that she has.
-
@dropper I really was hoping the Onigashima outfits would be the new standard, since they were appearing on a lot of merch. But I guess this game was made before that started, so maybe in the next game

I think the chances to get them as DLC are not so minimal.
-
You get pre-timeskip looks if you preorder the game.
-
@Kaiolino Well damn, they got us good...

Yeah, really thinking about preordering this now. I generally don't like to do that but paying extra for the costumes if I can get them now really makes me want to make an exception.
Then again, there's no pre-timeskip costumes for Franky and Brook which is a huge bummer for me as that's the two changes I dislike the most.
-
Don't quote me on this, but I think you can find other outfits during the game, too. I think it was mentioned in a trailer?
-
Gotta be honest. As much as I'm trying to lower my expectations because I've been let down to many times, I have to admit that what we've seen of the classic locations so far really excites me.
They really look like proper representations of the familiar locations, which is something I'm always hoping for in an OP game.
-
I'm quite excited myself. Though there are a few things I would have done differently, but it looks like they put in some real effort and dedication in.
-
One thing I definitely would have done is the graphics as stated a previously. I just find that the cell shaded graphic seen in games like Breath of the Wild, Nino Kuni, Genshin Impact and Naruto UNS or Dragoball FighterZ just is visually more appealing. To me personally such graphics really are a selling point because I like just looking at them.
About the things you were a bit reserved. I can see where you're coming from. Didn't comment on that however because trailers and promotional shots are usually chopped together thus not giving a clear idea of why things are as they are. But I'm actually curious to see in game why the things you mention are as we see them so far.
Also isn't it about time to change the thread title?
-
oh, the got Diablo's Inventory Tetris in the game somehow, lol
-
Well, I'm sold. The battles are just so fun to play, hopefully they keep entertaining in the long run. Definitely getting it anyway.
-
Anyone play the demo yet? What do you all think?
I like the locations and the graphics, but the movement and exploration is pretty stiff. It seems like there is plenty of good potential for the combat to be pretty interesting strategically, but I don’t really care for turn based games, so the strategy would have to be really good to get me interested. I think I’m halfway through the demo, and I’m still not sure if I want to buy this.
-
I'm trying to download the demo, but my PS4 is soooooooo slllllllowwwwww.
-
Having both auto-battle and fast-forward shows they don’t have a lot of faith in this combat.
-
@Zephray Yakuza 7 has the same features.

That's pretty much a standard feature in modern rpgs.
-
While auto-battle is def for trash and shouldn't be applicable at any real challenging match, I am a bit surprised at speed. That's usually for a post-game unlock.

They're typical QoL features. Many turn-based RPGs have them nowadays.
There are people that usually just want to see the story but have trouble with the turn-based combat because of time. Others have disabilities, etc.
-
Auto Battle is good if you get stuck and have to grind.
Speed Up is NECESSARY for battle. Seeing the attack animation the first 3 times is cool, but then it’s like “okay come on get on with it”
I beat the demo last night, it was fun, and I think it’ll be less “stop and go” once you leave the tutorial in the main game
-
-
@Zephray That’s quite the conclusion to jump to.
Persona 5 and FFXIII (despite the flaws outside of combat) have auto-battle and I wouldn’t say the battle system lack confidence. -
Confirmation that besides the preorder bonus there are no alternate outfits besides those godforsaken timeskip looks is a major bummer.
-
-
Oooof, I was expecting some WCI announcement together with the launch. Welp, it's sure a strange timming with no Yonko on board of an OP Game, lol.
-
Wow. Now this is dedication (^○^)

though it is only out in a few hours here's it's release schedule (Steam Link)
-
Game getting pretty good reviews right now. Bamco could really have a hit here.
-
I got two hours to go before it unlocks for me. I still think that Adio guy is sus.
