I am new to BitTorrent, and I was wondering why the downloads were going so slow. I am trying to download the first 10 episodes from KF, and I want to know why the download does not seem to do anything whatsoever. Could somebody help?

I believe there's a little post about how to get your BT working normally on the KF website, but I'm not at my current computer and I don't have too much time to search, sorry!
-
Did you let it go for a while? Because it starts off slow, but if you wait for at least 5-10 minutes it should start to speed up drastically. If it doesn't, then maybe there's a problem. You should check Kaizoku-Fansub's help forum.

If you are behind a router, look up how to do port-fowarding. You need to find what ports your BT works on and have the router foward it to the computer which is using BT. If your not behind a router, well then I don't know

It's all about port forwarding with Bittorrent, all about it. I'm not going to try explain it now, but type in 'port forwarding' or 'port forwarding configuration' into google & you'll find something.
But once you have that nailed down, just tweak a few options in your torrent program & you're gold!

speed usually depends on which program you use and the knowledge you have containing the program.
most clients can be configured greatly if you know a thing or two about bt networking and youre own limitations.

maybe not enough seeds/peers??? because the dload has been there for a long long time so ask for a reseed maybe??
-
Perhaps there aren't enough seeders (if any).

Some dumb question: I HAVE to have BitTorrent installed to download episodes or are there other possibilities?
I can install the bittorrent.exe on my own computer but the connection is far too slow. (Even a few new avatars/signatures on these pages make a lot of difference)
On the public computer I use for surfing the net and downloading things, I cannot install it "because it has been prevented by a software restriction policy. For more information, contact your system administrator".
Do I have another possibility to download such files or can I just try to make somebody with a better connection download things for me :( ?

Well… There's always IRC... Kaizoku Fansubs has a tutorial on how to set it up for free. And...
http://kasshin.net:2000/index.php
^ There's a tutorial on how to use it. Basically, when you open up the channel (such as #kaizoku-fansubs), you have to double-click on a bot (such as K-F|Makino), opening a new window. Following, you must type in…
/msg [name of bot] xdcc send [number of what you want]
The packlists for the K-F bots are on their site.
