You sort of want to see him test that no army can match us claim.

Unless they have soil-air missiles no matter how many come or how armed they are a few choppers with M134 can mow down them in seconds.

This is the reason why the rights to bear arms against a fucked up government are just not reasonable anymore. An army of millions in the U.S. would be easily beaten, even if well armed.

Oh you mean the amendment that should join the 18th? Yeah, and I'm talking things simply, they could roll over with Abrams, they could drone bombard the crowd, they could drop napalm on them, Tomahawk missiles still a thing?

So who will have the balls to go for their heads?

Oh boy…this is completely insane. like, THIS is what happens when you stroke the conspiracy nuts and these….diehard trump fanatics. diehard as in literally "i will die if he is not my president". This kind of sheer delusion is terrifying!
So who will have the balls to go for their heads?
i'm sorry to be blunt
fuck all of these senators. i hope you all never serve another day in office if and when the time comes, you trump-enabling morons.

Now that the excitement's died down (seriously, the other forum I follow politics on exploded with all of today's events):

[h=1]Day 1448: "Death spiral."[/h]
! 1/ Pence rejected Trump’s demand to block certification of Biden’s win, saying only lawmakers can decide whether to accept or reject the Electoral College votes. On Tuesday, Pence told Trump that he does not have the authority to reject the electoral votes from states he lost. The meeting came hours after Trump inaccurately tweeted “The Vice President has the power to reject fraudulently chosen electors.” This statement is not true and the vice president does not have the unilateral power to alter the results sent to Congress. On Wednesday, Pence informed lawmakers that he was rebuffing Trump’s demand as lawmakers gathered for a joint session of Congress to count the electoral votes, saying “It is my considered judgment that my oath to support and defend the Constitution constrains me from claiming unilateral authority to determine which electoral votes should be counted and which should not.” (Politico / CNN / New York Times / Axios / USA Today)

! 2/ Mitch McConnell rebuked his Republican colleagues’ efforts to block the certification of the Electoral College, saying that overturning the results of the election “would damage our republic forever” and risked sending democracy into a “death spiral.” McConnell’s speech came after an objection was raised to the certification of Arizona’s 11 electoral votes to Biden and Harris by Rep. Paul Gosar and 60 other House colleagues minutes into the proceeding. McConnell denounced Trump’s “sweeping conspiracy theories” about election fraud and said he “will not pretend” voting to overturn the election would be a “harmless protest gesture.” (Axios / USA Today / ABC News)
3/ Trump encouraged thousands of supporters during a rally at the Ellipse to protest the count of electoral votes at the Capitol, saying “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol […] because you’ll never take back our country with weakness, you have to show strength and you have to be strong.” Trump, speaking about an hour before the start of the joint session of Congress, told his fans: “We will never give up. We will never concede. You don’t concede when there is theft involved. Your country has had enough. We will not take it anymore. We won this election, and we won it by a landslide. This was not a close election.” Trump added: “We will stop the steal […] I’m going to be watching because history is going to be made.” During the rally, Trump urged Pence to take action, saying “If not I’m going to be very disappointed in you” and vowed to “primary the hell out of” members of Congress who didn’t go along with his bid to overturn the election results, calling them “pathetic” and “weak Republicans.” (NBC News / Politico / New York Times / Washington Post / CNBC)
4/ The U.S. Capitol went into lockdown as a mob of Trump supporters surrounded and then stormed the building, forcing Congress to abruptly pause the constitutional process to affirm Biden’s win. Shortly after 1 p.m. ET, House offices were evacuated as Trump’s supporters stormed Capitol barriers and dozens of people breached the building while the constitutional proceedings continued inside. Lawmakers inside the House chamber were told to shelter in place and put on gas masks as tear gas and smoke grenades were fired in the Rotunda. Several House office buildings were evacuated due to potential bomb threats. Pence, meanwhile, was evacuated. At least one person was shot and taken to a hospital. As the mob engulfed the Capitol, Trump did not call for calm but instead tweeted that “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution.” The Army activated the entire District of Columbia National Guard – 1,100 troops – in response to a request from Mayor Muriel Bowser, who also declared a citywide curfew starting at 6 p.m. It was the first time the Capitol had been breached since the British attacked and burned the building during the War of 1812. Lawmakers, meanwhile, will resume counting Electoral College votes late Wednesday night. (Washington Post / NBC News / New York Times / CNN / Politico / Wall Street Journal / USA Today / Bloomberg / CNBC / Associated Press)
5/ Trump blamed his opponents for the violence and praised the mob that stormed the Capitol as “very special,” saying “we can’t play into the hands of these people.” In a televised speech Biden condemned Trump for stoking the violence and demanded that the president call on his supporters to end the “unprecedented assault” on democracy. “This is not dissent. It’s disorder. It’s chaos. It borders on sedition, and it must end now,” he added. “I call on this mob to pull back and allow the work of democracy to go forward.” Moments later, Trump tweeted a one-minute video – more than two hours after the mob overtook the building – repeating his lie that “the election was stolen” while advising the group to “go home now. We have to have peace.” He added: “We love you.” Trump later reiterated his false claim that the election was stolen, tweeting for his supporters to “remember this day.” (New York Times / Bloomberg / Washington Post / The Guardian / CNBC / Axios)
6/ Democrats won control of the Senate with victories in Georgia’s two runoff elections, assuring slim majorities in both chambers of Congress for Biden. Raphael Warnock defeated Kelly Loeffler, and Jon Ossoff won his race against David Perdue. With the Senate split, Kamala Harris will break 50-50 ties, putting Democrats in charge of the legislative agenda, committee chairmanships, and Congress’ confirmation and investigative powers. Some Republicans blamed Trump’s weeks of baseless claims that Georgia’s electoral system was rigged for the Democratic sweep. (NBC News / New York Times / Washington Post / Associated Press / Wall Street Journal / CNN / Politico)
7/ The Trump administration is attempting undo some civil rights protections for minority groups. The Justice Department submitted a change to how it enforces Title VI of the Civil Rights Act for White House approval. (New York Times)
8/ Russian hackers behind the cyber espionage campaign accessed the Justice Department email accounts. About 3,500 employees’ emails accounts were accessed. There is no indication that classified systems were affected. (Politico / Washington Post / Wall Street Journal / ABC News)
9/ Trump administration officials auctioned off oil and gas leases in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge despite a number of banks saying they would not finance Arctic energy projects due to flat oil prices. The sale of 11 tracts on just over 550,000 acres for $14.4 million was a fraction of what Republicans predicted it would yield. (Washington Post)
10/ Biden plans to nominate Merrick Garland for attorney general. Biden selected Garland over former Sen. Doug Jones and former deputy attorney general Sally Yates. Republicans blocked Garland’s Supreme Court nomination in 2016. (New York Times / Washington Post / Politico / CNN / USA Today / Axios)

I’ll be terribly surprised if there aren’t severe consequences for a lot of the Capitol stormers. They are all on state of the art surveillance footage, and many will probably face prosecution.
At the very least, none of the people who were swarming the building will ever be able to obtain or hold a security clearance for the rest of their lives.

I'm a little lost, who is kneeling lady and who is the guy between Doom and Kobe?
Also why Piccolo, are you telling me that Kami has died? So we are sure screwed without the Dragon Balls. -
I was busy at work so I didn't get a chance to follow as things happened, but where the fuck was the National Guard? It feels like it took too long for them to get there. They had better be stationed all over on Inauguration Day.
Seriously, this is blowing my mind. My dad would always tell me stuff like this is the "darkness before the dawn" but how much darker can we get?

The DC National Guard apparently answer directly to the President and Vice President, not the mayor. And Trump simply did not order them in. They only were deployed when Pence finally decided to call on them later in the evening.
Truly disappointing, especially when you think about that absolutely ridiculous showing earlier this year when Trump tried to get a photo op at a local church.
-
In response to this, the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), a very conservative group, has both denounced the rioters and telling Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment.

We really need to get those Dragonballs already.
I believe that's Nancy Pelosi. And the guy is John Lewis. I don't really get this meme either though.
Apparently, someone made a Tweet saying "We worship politians so damn much, watch somebody do something stupid like draw RBG, Lewis, Kobe, and MF Doom looking down on Stacey Abrams with pride", and as a joke, someone drew it and added Nancy and Piccolo to add to the joke. It's nothing genuine.
-
Poor Legal Eagle can't take it either. As he says, the 25th Amendment is too good for T-rump, and he should be impeached b/c 14 days is 14 too long.
-
Impeachment takes far too long and he'd be officially out of office before they could come to the table on what to do. Plus Republicans probably would still not want to risk mob backlash over betraying dear emperor.
-
So I was up all night hitting a deadline and went to bed right before this all started. This is… some news to wake up to.
Impeachment takes far too long and he'd be officially out of office before they could come to the table on what to do. Plus Republicans probably would still not want to risk mob backlash over betraying dear emperor.
In theory they can remove the president from power in about 5 minutes if the VP and the other handful in charge all agree to it, and impeachment could, in theory, be done in an hour when its this open and shut a clear case.
When its THIS clear there's no reason it would need to take weeks.
-

How about cold, unforgiving, empty pitch?

Y'know how conservatives tend to say that they have the silent majority behind them? Well this should be a good opportunity to test that. See if the unspoken masses are down for a little third world couping
-
This might sound strange, and I'm really not being sarcastic or anything… but your police forces & local officials handled this really well. We had a similiar situation here a few months ago (
) and I thought if this would be the USA, we would be seeing headshots left and right. -
What part was handled well, exactly, and well for who? They opened the gates for the terrorists and took selfies with them. The only reason that only one woman was shot in the neck was because you don't shoot your friends. If this was an attack by the BLM or antifa movement there would have been a lot more casualties
-
Well by (mostly) not using force they didn't allow them to make a martyr out of themselves. So that's a plus. But other than that things could have been better handled
-

4 dead after a raid on the capitol, in a country where the population is armed to the teeth. The situation was embarrassing and those pictures will forever be ingrained in our heads. But this could have gone so much worse.
And you are right, this probably would have gone differently if we would be talking about BLM or Antifa. But I would rather take this as an example how things should be handled, instead of asking for the same (wrong) treatment other groups receive.Could this be handled even better? Well of fucking course, people were able to raid the capitol. They really shouldn't be able to do that. But it happened, and the night still ended with just 4 people dead instead of dozens.

I guess I just disagree with the sentiment that just because it didn't go as bad as it could've gone means it was handled well. They should have predicted that agitated Trump supporters would at the very least try to instigate something during the official certification process and raised security just in case. That is how things should have been handled. This was a terrorist attack by their own people on their own soil and that should not be an example, ever. But hindsight is 20/20.
Similarly I wouldn't say that Germany handled its COVID response well just because the USA is so much more fucked than us. Countries like New Zealand handled Corona well. We're just… handling it. Somehow. But definitely not well.!

Well, now that we know that the police will let this mob of terrorist fascists march right into the capital building, I can begin to understand why some of these Republicans might not want to get on their bad side.
It's ridiculous to even have to talk like this (and I'm certain this was never the reason those Republicans were standing by Trump). But apparently as long as the rioters are white, they can go wherever they want.
-
There is no argument that this could have been forseen and that they should have taken more precautions just in case. But I still believe this is a good example what seperates the US from truly failed states or autocracies. They could have killed every single one of these nutters, that I'm sure of. But they didn't, and in the end this absolutely outrageous night ended with minimal casualties. It was handled "well" - apart from the grave miscalculations that lead to this point, obviously.
I'm sure this will serve as an example the next time the police moves excessively against group X. Rub it in their face that even a raid on the capitol, with people dancing on Nancy Pelosis's desk, could still end without excessive bloodshed.Anyway, you won't see me talking shit about your country over this. At least I would take this complete loss of face over a hundred dead bodies any day.
Well, now that we know that the police will let this mob of terrorist fascists march right into the capital building, I can begin to understand why some of these Republicans might not want to get on their bad side.
I hope it will serve as wakeup call more than anything. People shouldn't need one at this point, but apparently we always do regardless of topic.

All of them?
The videos I've seen also show officers beating them back with batons and tear-gasing them outside. But I guess that doesn't count because it wasn't lethal?

Well there's this:
And there's this:
So yeah, the security said fuck our jobs we're with you nutjobs.
Any civil movement against the Senate - during a official proceeding - and with the intent to stop the said proceeding should've been faced with the same violence the pigs show to any other civil movement. -
Well there's this:
This… okay this is actually disturbing. Are these different units or what's going on?
I've seen live coverage on German TV, was that when the initial surge was already over or what? I wish I could find the material again, but it looked really desperate with officers beating the hordes with batons, outside you couldn't even see much because of all the gas.
-
They were beating people only while they needed to remove the VP, senators and congressmen to a safer location.
-
Elizabeth from Knoxville would like a refund.:ninja:
I thought American history lessons cover revolutions and civil wars pretty well… did she sleep through these lessons or why is she so surprised for getting "maced" after trying to participate in a "revolution"?:ninja:
I feel sorry for the four people that died because of the delusion of one man and now there are four families that lost beloved ones. But I refuse to have even an ounce of pity for every person, who participated in this riot and got maced or something else. They decided to do listen to a lying, mad man so they can bear the consequences of their action.
On another note, because it is so horrible what has happened it is even more shocking that there are barely any arrests. This is shocking me right now nearly as much as that those people seriously tried to stop the count of the Electoral College, which wouldn't have changed anything because Trump fucking LOST!
And this is far from over... 20th of January will be another wild day. Hopefully, police forces will be better prepared than yesterday! -
Just balkanize the US already lol
-
They were beating people only while they needed to remove the VP, senators and congressmen to a safer location.
So they were beating their asses and threw some gas grenades and once the politicians were safe it was "anything goes" or what?
-
It seems like they withdrew the potential targets beyond a redline, engaging anyone who tried to breach that line but let them run rampant on any other area until the army or national guard or whoever showed up. Seems fairly sensible once they had started pouring into the building. Of course keeping them out to begin with would've been so much better. I mean i'm as suprised as anyone that they didn't just start blasting, but i'm still kind of relieved that this didn't end up as an American tiananman squre that the Trump gang could mark as a martyr for their just cause.

You were being shit on when no one here was there or knows what exactly happened. People are literally shown different videos that portray a different perspective of the event depending on their political history bc social media algorithms. Its cray

I'm interested to hear a different perspective on police officers opening the gates for the "protestors" and taking selfies with them, the invaders creating chaos, forcefully entering a government building/sections that they have no right to enter at that time, literally looting the place by taking mail from representatives and furniture.
-

Some are shown this first, some are shown other videos first. I'm not even necessarily solely talking of this event. Every news worthy event is shown differently depending on what the algorithms asses what you are politically.
For a much better explanation, watch 'The Social Dilemma' on Netflix. It gives you a much better understanding of how two different groups (lefts and rights) can view events so differently.
So yes, you saw videos of police siding w protesters while others are shown videos of police fighting back. Its almost terrifying how it works.

Terrifying that a portion of society can be appeased by showing a video of the police fighting back and saying "See? We didn't just support them" while all the other footage I mentioned is out there too. You're right, it is terrifying how that works.

There is no argument that this could have been forseen and that they should have taken more precautions just in case.
As I linked to an article earlier about some government agencies had known about the potential threat of these protests at least a week in advance and legit didn’t do anything.
Hell Trump supporters have made it clear since before the election that regardless of the elections outcome
they’d start shit. But apparently focusing on BLM and Antifa as potential domestic threats took far more precedent.Dumb man makes intelligent rationalization

Literally yes. You're in the minority if you follow up and do research. Most people see something and take it at face value. Such as believing your leader that his election was stolen because he says so.
And we now have domestic terrorism out of pure stupidity.
