I also wanna note that with a public figure like Trump, you have to prove something called "Actual Malice" which in legaese means you have to prove that the person making the claim KNEW it was false when they shared it and did so with intent to harm.
If a person makes a claim they honestly believe based on their own observation or information that was given to them by another, they typically can't be sued.
That's why OJ Simpson hasn't been able to launch over 8000 lawsuits directed at all the commentators, talk show hosts, comedians, and TV shows who make "OJ probably did it" comments and jokes.
You can only be sued if you make claim to have specific insider knowledge on the subject, if that knowledge you're claiming is provably false, if it can be proven you KNEW it was false when you made it, and you made the statement specifically to harm the reputation of the person you're talking about.
So for example:
"Trump totally has diapers! From his posture, the fit of his suits, the sounds you can hear on some of these videos of him speaking. Yeah, it's pretty obvious" - Not Slander because you're basing this off your own subjective observation and opinions.
vs.
"I used to work on the Apprentice, and there was actually a 'Trump Diaper Team' who's job was to change the president. I wasn't on it but I knew about it and saw them in action" is potentially something you could sue for. But you'd have to find high ranking people on the Apprentice staff like executive producers or directors etc who would be willing to come to court and under oath say "I can confirm there was no such thing as a 'Trump Diaper Duty' team." to PROVE that's not true, otherwise your slander/libel suit will fail.
You can't just go in and say "That's not true, it's their word against mine" and expect to win.
(I actually had to learn all about this thanks to an unrelated high profile Defamation case last year, so I'm super well versed in this lol)
