Keep in mind Republicans in Kentucky pulled strings to ensure that if and when McConnell steps down a Republican automatically gets his seat.
And this guy will not ride off into the sunset.
I think McConnell is well aware that that Beshear might just appoint who he wants on the grounds that legislation not only violates Kentucky's state constitution but the 17th Amendment itself since it would basically be the state legislature appointing the Senator as, if I remember right, they provide the Governor a shortlist of acceptable candidates.

Also violates a bunch of Civil Rights Acts along with the 14th Amendment. Of course the idea of restricting travel to prevent abortions was something people were warning about years ago only to get dismissed as being unrealistic.

Government overreach is only real when Democrats aren’t doing it. When it’s republicans it’s all about protecting groups they don’t particularly care about.

Biden prevented that strike but also continued to help put pressure on the rail companies behind the scenes until they gave their employees sick leave.
Compare that to other Presidents who "broke" a strike. What did air traffic controllers get out of Reagan destroying their union for instance?
