Greg explaining furries to the Japanese audience must've been a career highlight for him.
ONE PIECE 7TH Popularity Poll!!
-
-
Checking the regional results, it's clear there were massive campaigns for Carrot and Yamato everywhere.
However, Yamato was kept down mostly in Asia, and Carrot was kept down mostly in Japan. Which are the most populous regions.(Hancock made to the Top 10 in every region, yay! Considering the character has been missing from canon for over a decade, I call it really impressive.)
-
Damn, Nami, Robin, Yamato and Carrot in the top 4 spots in Oceania while Luffy is only 6th
-
And they come with actual numbers, so we can tell exactly how much each region influenced which result.

I hope people are already working on a stacked bar plot
You know what, I’ll just do it myself insert Thanos meme
-
WOAH, BIG POG FOR NAMI WTF
Really glad I pooled 80% of my votes into a concentrated focus on her.
I really hoped I could help her place higher within the top 10 than she usually does,
BUT TOP THREE???
Holy fuck. I'm so happy right now.I spent the rest of my daily votes on Carrot, so I’m ecstatic to see her break into the top 10 as well! :D
-
pretty amazing nami got #1 in a few regions.
-
Look at all the regions in which Nami & Zoro are the top two!
So not just #1, she also snagged a lot of #2 spotsIt all adds up bby. So proud of her fans.
-
Nami was less than 10k away from Luffy in North America.
-
Checking the Top 50 again, I'm eager for that color spread.
So many possibilities to make fun scenes in it.
All waifus (Hiyori, Pudding, Hancock) are there, for instance.
Smoker, Tashigi, Koby
Gol D Roger, Ace, Whitebeard.
Buggy.
Izo, KikuEven Woop Slap, lol. Can't believe he will be in a color spread.
-
Ace isn't in a single top 10 outside of Asia/Japan so I blame that corpse for pushing Yamato out of the top 10
-
Honestly Ace was way lower than expected. Definitely the other big upset in the top 10 after Carrot and Nami.
By the way, I'm not sure I understand this special illustration. They seemed to be talking about it in plural, so is it a colorspread or a unique one for each character?
-
I still cannot fully make peace with Law being one of the five greatest OP characters. Even post-personality he's not doing much for me. But c'est la vie
-
I would say Oceania has a shortage of females following One Piece, since every other region is dominated by Husbandos.
But not Oceania, they put all Waifus up there.
-
Big Mom's rankings are disheartening to me. She didn't even crack the top 100 in Japan. Brook's ranking also saddens me - he was the absolute king during Whole Cake Island. Did fans forget already?
On the other hand, Law being kicked out of the top 4 (and at quite a distance from Sanji) and Nami getting that third place is pretty cool. I would change Carrot with Yamato in the global ranking, but I'm not mad - I kinda like Carrot, even if she's been pretty much in the background during Wano and her only fight, off panneled.

Keep in mind Yamato has no anime appearance and is still number 11, with and anime appearance Yamato would have made it in and more.

Ahh still disingenuous I see with Yamato.
Good for Carrot placement nothing against her all I said was Yamato would be higher with an anime appearance which is pretty much undeniable
Even look at Greg’s tweets
-
Nami is my favorite Strawhat so I'm beyond excited that she actually managed 3rd place and ranked above both Law and Sanji. And she deserves every single vote, too. I'm also happy to see Sanji ranking higher than Law and Usopp ranking higher than Chopper (for the first time ever?).
-
Not bad for a guy who only has 40 chapters under his belt
-
Looking at the two major shakeups (Nami and Carrot) it’s interesting that their votes from Japan make up a much smaller amount of their total votes than the other characters, same goes for Yamato in a smaller scale
-

No, I'm fine with Yamato; if he'd gotten in 8th instead, that'd be no problem. I'm disingenuous with you.
-
Very proud of Yamato too. He will make it higher on a later poll when he is on the crew and more side characters start to fade away from future events.
-

Pretty much don’t know why people are dismissive on Yamato here or any character.
Just makes people look salty and pathetic
Nami is in the top 3 that never happened
-
Yamato has only been in 20-25 or so chapters since his debut, so his results are very impressive because he managed to rally such a fanbase in such little time. And we barely know his story and powers yet.
No doubt the anime will hype the shit out of him.
-
Even look at Greg’s tweets
For reference:
So yeah, if the anime had gotten to Yamato before the poll ended he most definitely would've gotten a big surge

Sure, and maybe if the poll had been next year, some other new character from the next arc would have shot up.
The numbers are the numbers, time and worldwide accounted for, and I'll stop short of gloating when that's all you felt like doing in the midterms.

I mean shit there plenty of just anime watchers for any manga much less One Piece.
Anime always has a big role/influence which makes Shift post even more pathetic (but considering the thing with him and Yamato expected)

I'd just ignore them tbh. By now you should know how they argue and how much sense it makes to engage them
-
Thanks for the graphs Coookie!
Looks at Japan's results for Law, Ace and Sabo. So Japan do love them!

Japan loves pretty boys, to be fair Ace is not you can grind meat on his six pack.

Very fitting top 3, it would be cool if they are highlighted on the upcoming colorspread. -

And what thing would that be?
-
Nami-swan is allowed it be above Sanji <3

True from from interactions and that I should if they can’t be truthful or honest I really shouldn’t
-

And zoro is? Law and zoro are like twin brothers in terms of personality.
-

I can understand why some readers love Ace and why some don't. Ace isn't that compelling of a character but one of the aspects I love about him is how his death was perfectly timed in the manga. Ace's death held such emotion built up from the past arcs leading up to the Battle of Marineford. His death embodies a pain incredibly valuable to Luffy. Whenever Luffy utilises fire-based attacks it is hard not to be reminded of the emotions one felt when Luffy's world shattered right in front of him and the sacrifice Ace made for his younger brother. And yeah, there is also the fact that Ace is hot.
It would be cool if there were a character like that in the Wano Kuni Arc. One destined to die in epic fashion consequently shaking the world. Aside from Kaido, I don't see any other character in Wano serving such a role.

By all means, file a report and explain your grievances with me. I'm always open to criticism.

Just like how your character would want it lol .
-
Ace works because ultimately I don’t think we has meant to be a super deep character, he is the cool older brother who looked out for Luffy and had fire powers.
As we learned more about Ace and how so many people had expectations for him to be like Roger or a great Pirate I love/like the idea that in the end he didn’t want that, he didn’t want to be the next Roger all Ace wanted was to feel loved and accepted.
Hell he wanted and knew Luffy would be the next King.
In Marineford it finally hit him he had all that love and more and could die in peace.
Simple yet effective pathos which is why he will always have a hold on the franchise

Considering the popularity of Roger (29) and Rayleigh (33) and seeing how Oda handled Oden (24), I wonder what he has planned for Scopper Gaban. Can Oda introduce/reintroduce another Roger Pirate that can be just as popular as Roger, Rayleigh and Oden or more? I assume Scopper is the Roger Pirate currently looking after the existence that hatched from the Giant Egg the Roger Pirates possessed during their adventure.
-
People revising in to a more positive view of Ace feels weird. Like if someone came up to you and said -Oh man Limp Bizkit was a musical highlight of the 00's. Just messes with your old man head y'know

Hey Limp Bizkit has an Oscar now and Trent Reznor is doing Disney movies
-
Regarding Ace, Law and Sabo, I was mainly curious why their rankings fell from the previous poll. Japan's results had them in the top 5 consistent with previous polls. Just found it curious that the rest of the world isn't as enamored with those three.
-
I'm guessing pretty boys with dark pasts aren't favoured that much outside Japan. That, and other characters like Nami and Robin were much more adored.
-
Great job for Carrot fans, really well-deserved. Goes to show that plenty of people appreciate her place in the story, her time with the crew, her transformation and what's next to come. I couldn't be happier!
And seriously, congrats to everyone, especially to Yamato; he's definitely made a positive impact on the story in a short amount of time. My wife was voting for Corazon, and she'll be happy he made it ahead of Doffy. We'll see how they do in the next poll however many years from now!
-

I'd like to file a report with you. You expressed a different opinion from me and I really don't like that.

He and Taro were probably some of the most prominent members, since they both led the charge alongside Rayleigh against the Whitebeard Pirates.
