Well, they can't show OP uncut on Toonami. They have guidelines like the Saturday morning shows do. As for redubbing, it's not going to happen anytime soon. However, I think people should sign it anyway, just as a statement. If lots of people sign it, maybe someone will take note of it.

I don't know of any instance that an online petition has actually made some corporate office change their minds, but I have noticed that the press sometimes picks up on them and talks about their results. I think getting the opinions out is always a good thing.
Nothing really comes to mind, except for maybe the various Family Guy season 4 petitions, a while ago. Though I'd put it down more to the DVD sales of the previous seasons that got it renewed, though the fan support helped I guess.

… Hah. Fat chance in hell that 4Kids'd ever consider the fans' wishes on something like a redub. Sure, they're willing to give out uncut DVDs (albeit with dubtitles...), but a redub for a cable channel? Highly doubtful. There's more chance of getting me to jog for a mile.
I honestly believe that there is no way in hell that ANY company is going to listen to a minority group of nerds who lash out at them through message boards and online petitions. (If they did, Microsoft would have been dead a while ago.)
But I did sign that petition just in case that this is one of those times where I could be wrong.

Well, there was the time when Viz was editing the Dragonball manga and the petition that Planet Namek linked to got over 10,000 sigs in less than a week. Which got Viz to rerelease the older volumes unedited and stop editing the future gn releases of the series.
There was also the instance of Disney originally planning to release Princess Mononoke with only the English dub and French dub, to which fans reacted with an online petition for Disney to also include the Japanese track that also garnered big support from fans. Disney subsequentlly took notice and delayed the dvd release to include the Japanese track as well.
I signed, who knows, this might hopefully just work. Although currently only 15 people signed the petition. I shall inform some friends of mine and some forums that might have some people interested in this.
And Sailor Moon was also succesfully petitioned, although i don't think it was online.
Cripes. Can't we give this redub bull a rest already? The One Piece fandom will never match the numbers that Dragonball Z and Sailor Moon were able to produce. CRIPES.

Sailor Moon WAS petitioned online, actually. About 8 years ago.
Personally, I don't know if this particular petition will make waves, but you can't have waves until you have ripples, and you can't have ripples unless you drop the pebble in. One thing's for sure - signing it won't HURT the chances of it having a redub.
Cartoon Network seen to do a better job, but it will be on Saturday. A few thing are kept it when it air prime time. I'll sign.

I say yes to do the re-dubbing!!! If you not behind it just go listen to Luffy and Sanji's voices on the foxbox. I screamed and cursed so much my neighbor threatened to call the cops :D. Also Cartoon Network has done good jobs with dubbing anime, not all though as some can agree with me ;)
I don't think CN has ever dubbed any anime themselves, they just broadcast whatever they get.

As far as One Piece on Toonami goes, I really don't know that it wouldn't be better off on Miguzi everyday of the week with the slightly more restrictive midday guidelines than once a week on Toonami with more lenient guidelines. That was the timeslot that hurled Dragon Ball Z to its place atop the cable ratings.
Unfortunately (or Fortunately?), I think that the way 4Kids has produced the One Piece dub, it will not be popular no matter where it airs or what time slot it has.
Lets hope for the best though, hopefully it'll be like DBZ which had a shitty syndicated dub (I trust everyone remebers the numerous charchter deaths being referred to as "Going to another dimension" and all those horrid vegeta arc edits)
but then got on Toonami and improved greatly (Dead charchters were actually reffered to as being dead, less blood was edited out and only the really gruesome deaths didn't make it. ie: Freeza killing Kurirun, Gohan killing the Cell Jr.s). The most annoying thing when it comes to charachter deaths in OP is when they say"____ beat him/her/them up!" And if it does get a redub….pleese oh sweet Jesus let it be from Funimation and not 4kids, Bandai, or Plastic cow Productions (Those fucks who brought that Yu-Gi-Oh! ripoff Duel masters over, for christs sake people, theres barely enough room for one lame ass product placement anime as it is. Don't bring another even shittier one!!)

Science Ninja Squad Gatchaman - came out in 1972, dubbed, renamed, and ass-raped in 1978 into "Battle of the Planets".
In 1984, re-dubbed again, even more crappily, yet not quite as censored as "G-Force".
2005, original uncut show finally released in America, bilingual, and re-dubbed yet again by ADV.

Yeah, it's coming out in June. Look for Gatchaman. :) Believe it or not, I'd rather watch Battle of the Planets than G-Force. G-Force might not have had stupid 7-Zark-7, and poor Jinpei is a real kid and doesn't have a speech impediment, but the voice acting and cheesy techno music in the background was pretty bad. Not to mention the cheesy names (Dirk Daring, Ace Goodheart, blech!). I have a DVD of Rhino's release of Battle of the Planets that also has corresponding subbed episodes of the original Gatchaman and G-Force so you can compare the three. Once you see the original, there's no point in watching the butchered versions. Although, I have to admit that even in Gatchaman there's lots of cheesiness. But hey, it's old as dirt, and it's about a bunch of hippy kids in bird costumes fighting a he-she in an even more ridiculous costume, so what do you expect? :P

Gatcha! Hahahaha ahem Yeah, I guess they had to think of a way of explaining how a little kid could be fighthing in dangerous battles, plus, most of his original dialogue, well, I don't think parents, especially in the 70's would approve of it. ;) And it was actually a child actor who did his voice. So in BotP they turn him into Keyop, the test-tube clone thing that talked like "ffopjofjofijofjsp booopboopp Hi there!". Poor kid was renamed "Peewee" in G-force or something retarded like that, and was voiced by Barbara Goodson.
I don't think they would do something like that to Chopper. He'll probably still have a kid voice. He's a reindeer, he'll probably get away with a lot. :D If they get that far…

Yeah, petitions are how we got uncut DBZ DVD's here in America. That's why everyone has tried petiitioning things lately. DBZ had a very large market of teenagers that they soon found out about after they began cutting DBZ. They realised how much money they could make off uncut DVDs and went for it….sucess. They're still releasing GT DVDs.
Problem is they now realsie that older anime fans get their stuff off of the internet and pirate everything. They don't pay for anything....little kids do, or rather, their parents do. Parents want something that isn't offensive or graphic.
It's all about $$$ here in the states.

I would like to apologize for my first comment. It is very rude of me to be so cynical and pessimistic when everyone is trying very hard to make a difference. As usual, my temper got out of hand and I typed the first idea that come to my mind before thinking about exactly what I was saying and what impression it would make on others. I know that this is not the first time I have done this, and probably not the last.
I also apologize for not responding to this in a timely manner. My life is… screwy, to say the very least, and spare time is something I very rarely have.
