Thought so too until Yamato appeared. Sadly makes the thing unlikely. Unless Yamato is foster child and not actual offspring.
Considering that we're talking about a Hito Zoan mating with a human, anything seems possible. At least I would buy it that the Devil Fruit portion is the overpowering factor when it comes to offspring, coupled with the idea that Kaido's mate was a human female (or a horned female). Like, when Kaido fully transforms into a human he actually is a human, biologically speaking. Everything in his body changes to the traits of a human (or horned human), genetic information and reproductive cells included.

Why would anyone actually want to be a Gifter? Seems like a potentially pretty miserable existence even with an ability.
Most Gifters look bizarre, but I do believe the power increase is real. Not enough of a boost to play in Jinbe or Luffy's ballpark of course, but they do turn into semi-serious fodder after all. Especially when grouped (they did manage to injure Zoro earlier).
So far the clear winner is the butterfly Gifter Lady though, that one has zero downsides and gives her the ability to fly, which is still a super rare and useful skill - even among top tiers. I would totally eat that Albatross Smile!

And Holdem's Lion Fire Breath + Babanuki's Elephant Blast seem decent too. So from the perspective of fodder and semi-fodder, the Smiles can seem attractive.
