Also just realized it's the same mangaka as Pochi Kuro, which I vaguely remember reading.

The schedule is 3 weeks on and one off, it seems to little content because the pacing of the manga don't gives much content to dissect each week.

Decent chap overall. Not sure how long the clean art style and moderately interesting main cast can keep it going, but I'm still reading it so there's gotta be something to it.

Kikoru is glorious.
I'm more a
than a Rei type of fan, so of course I would love Kikoru's character!LOVE the battle-axe. Kikoru has been absolutely exhilarating during this battle.
Soshiro seems to have a shadow of death cast on him. He may not die in this arc but he will eventually. Regret, sadness, grief, responsibility, duty and love; such emotions will become the maelstrom within Kafka that will inspire him toward a higher state of power as a defender of Japan and potentially the world.
Not sure if it is just my interpretation but I suspect there are different factions of Kaiju with some being antagonistic (the group behind Monster #9 and "Monster #10") and other factions that are neutral and/or potential allies. The Kaiju that bonded with Kafka had to come from somewhere and it didn't seem aligned with the antagonistic Kaiju. Just as Humanity are experimenting on Kaiju, it seems natural to also have Kaiju experimenting on humans - I wonder if a group found out how to bond a Human with a Kaiju.
In particular to this arc, I wonder if the Kaiju are using the attack on the Defense Force base as a distraction for another operation they have going on. Removing Defense Force members from another location that may also be targeted? Would the Kaiju want information or the research/data the Defense Force has on them and/or Monster #8? It may not have been specified yet but I believe the Kaiju Faction responsible for the current Kaiju movements are very interested in Monster #8 and wish to learn more about him (that is if Kaiju #9 shared the existence of Kaiju #8 to the group he belongs to).

She's just using a big gun, those two are getting down and dirty with hand weapons. I'm sure Mina is perfectly capable in other forms of combat too, though, we just haven't seen it yet.

Yeah, I feel the same. Guns have always been lame and she is essentially a sniper just showing up late and shooting the target from a safe distance. Meanwhile, Lt. Commander has been risking his life tangling with this monster by himself the entire time. Commander still needs him to immobilize the monster for her so while her power is unmatched she seems doesn't seem nearly as overpowered as they made it seem before.
I mean I know the point was to show that they're a team and how important the Lt. Commander's close combat fighting is to taking down monsters but now it just seems like unless both of them are fighting together neither one can take down a monster of that level by themselves.
A battle between that human-transforming monster and the Commander could be interesting though because he essentially shoots projectiles as well.

I think the question here is: where does that gun power come from? If it's connected to the suits that means she's channelling a helluva lot of power, if it's not then she's just shooting. But being a commander means more than just shooting guns, it means being able to, well, COMMAND your troops on the field. Haven't seen her do that yet either. Hopefully she will.

Apparently? It might've made Mina look cooler if she wasn't using it to absorb recoil and did it all herself.

Do they actually see the transformation or did this happen after he landed behind the building? So far I take it that just the people in the base realize it's Monster 8 because of the stats.
Personally speaking, I hope that they do realize it. Never been a fan of the entire secret idemtity thing.

Got hooked to this manga from the start. For me it feels like a good mix of World Trigger, Gants and maybe Parasite, which I like a lot. Was kinda hoping he would have kept his secret a bit longer, but I don't mind him revealing his power to save everyone. Guess this way he would get a better treatment from everyone considering he is a monster.

Either that or if everybody really witnessed the transformation this could to a conflict between the guys who support/protect him i.e. friends and squadmates and the higher ups who might want to experiment on him or kill him immediately.

They might start trying to explain things but I’d guess Kafka just willingly goes with them and tries to explain his situation himself. It’s already a good sign that they didn’t shoot him on sight, they’re willing to detain him even though everyone knows that he’s too powerful to actually be detained against his wishes.

That is a good point. Do any of them have anyway to actually contain him? His childhood friend is supposed to be the strongest. I dunno where her recoil tiger is, but I don't think she'd even be a threat to Kafka.
