I been watching Hurricaneger on dvd. I have to say that the dvd version of Hurricaneger is better then the version on Tubi. Because I noticed alot of the episodes on Tubi are cropped really badly, while the episodes on the dvd aren't.
Go Go Power Rangers… to Krispy Kreme!

I got the Abaranger boxset the other day. I'm up to episode 14 so far and I'm really enjoying the series so far. I'm curious where the entire Asuka/Jeanne storyline is heading towards. One thing I'm surprised by Abaranger is that they had their power up form (Super Dino Mode on Dino Thunder) by the end of the 2nd episode, while on Power Rangers it took like 13 episodes into Dino Thunder to make that form to debut.
I want to mention that Mai is awesome side character on the show. Also I really like the both the opening and ending songs for Abaranger. Both songs are really catchy.
-
I finished up Boukenger. Fantastic series. Easily S tier.
May take a little break from Super Sentai, but once I come back I'm going back to the very beginning with Gorenger.
-
I'm up to episode 19 of Abaranger. I know, that he's been on two episodes so far, but Abarekilller is a really cool villain. I'm planning to take a break from Super Sentai, once I get both Abaranger and Timeranger finished.
-
I have finished up Abaranger. The entire show was great through the entire run. Abarekiller was great villain throughout the series and I was fine with him switching sides towards the end of the series. The storyline that kept me in my seat throughout the series was the entire Armor of Darkness storyline with Asuka and Mahoro. Seriously I really enjoyed Abaranger throughout my entire watch through of the series.

Today is the 30th Anniversary of Day of the Dumpster, which started this entire series. It's going to be interesting whatever going happened after Cosmic Fury. Since all we know so far is that Power Rangers isn't going to be film in New Zealand anymore.
-
Started watching Gorenger, the Super Sentai that started it all. Holds up fairly well so far, as long as you go in understanding it's from the 70's and the budget's gonna be pretty crap.
Daita is immediately the standout character, though I could do without his exaggerated food obsession.
Also, what is this show's obsession with riddles?
-
Dekaranger 20th anniversary movie trailer is out.
-
@Sano Ooh. Lookin' forward to that. One of the best entries in the whole Super Sentai franchise.

speaking of which.

Are they ever going to try a Power rangers live action movie again?
It seems like if you got the right people involved it would be gold, was the last attempt that bad that there not going to retry it?
-
@Shiebs said in Go Go Power Rangers… to Krispy Kreme!:

It was pretty much a bomb, bringing in only about $142M against a $100M budget, so I can understand why they'd hesitate to make another one.
-
@Nobodyman that sucks, if done right I think it could be as big as the Avengers
I mean a group of super hero characters learning to become a team and working together to stop an alien invasion with awesome action set pieces and quipy lines of dialogue and lovable characters sounds pretty much like a perfect Powerrangers movie and also a summary of the first avengers movie lol

More information about Amy Jo Johnson's Power Rangers comic series is out.
-
I got both Fiveman and Dekaranger boxsets for Christmas. Currently I'm in the middle of watching Fiveman. I'm really enjoying Fiveman so far, the drunk martial arts Remi episode was amazing. Also I adored the Fiveman plush dolls segments.
-
-
I'm 11 episodes into Dekaranger so far. It's really good and it's a great companion piece to Power Rangers SPD. The main cast of Dekaranger have been great, I already like Ban, Umeko, Jasmine, and Doggie.
Also I want to mention I really like both the opening and ending songs for Dekaranger.
-
BoonBoomger, the next Super Sentai series, will be the first series written by my favorite writer, Tomioka Atsuhiro. Tomioka's episodes of Pokemon have been a major inspiration to me for the last 14+ years and I am very much looking forward to seeing how his battle strategies translate to live action, where he won't have to worry about limited drawing counts for movement.
-
Finished Gorenger.
The show was fine enough starting out, considering it's a 70's show. But yeah, they definitely made the right call to reduce future Super Sentai seasons to 50-ish episodes since Gorenger really started to wear out its welcome in the second half.
Still, nice enough, if a bit anticlimactic finale. That Cassiopeia thing was pretty awesome though, and I have to wonder if that was planned from the beginning.
-
I'm up to Episode 25 of Dekaranger now. The Hell Siblings episodes were pretty great. Dekabreaker debut in those episodes was handling really good. The Umeko and Tetsu episode with Tetsu being hostage, while Umeko trying to stop the bomb from going off was a good episode.
Also I want mention I really like the special ending song for the Jasmine and Umeko focus episodes.
-
I finished watching Dekaranger, and I really enjoyed the series. One thing I really like the series for is that each episode was mostly episodic, which was different from the Super Sentai series that I watched so far. Once, the Dekarangers got their S.W.A.T. mode, I really like that song that played when they are in that mode.
The final episodes were great in my opinion, Abrella's plans in the final episodes were crazy and the final robot fights in the series was really intense. I like that Shout Factory kept the post final episode passing the torch thing. Also I hope Shout Factory announced Magiranger already. Since Mystic Force was one of the reasons I got back into Power Rangers and I really want to see Magiranger.
-
I finished up JAKQ Dengekitai last week. Maybe it's because I was hitting Super Sentai burnout, but this series really didn't do much for me. It was only 35 episodes, the shortest Sentai season, but it felt longer. It showed some promise at first by giving each member of the team their own unique histories and backstories, but it pretty quickly drops that and all the characters become pretty boring. And then in the last third of the show they introduce Big One who is a complete Mary Sue. At that point it basically becomes the Big One show, featuring the JAKQ guys. They were really banking on this guy being a big hit with the kids.
-
Been enjoying Power Rangers: The Return comic. Very character-driven. The continuity doesn't fix the TV universe so I just take it as happening in a parallel universe like the main comics line.
-
The current situation for Power Rangers is getting weird now with Playmates is taking over making the figures.
-
@Sano said in Go Go Power Rangers… to Krispy Kreme!:
I just finished up Fiveman. Man, the final episodes of Fiveman were really dark.
I dont know if it was you, but if it was you said you didnt like Gogo V, which is cool, I love your opinion. But I am reminded that Fantasy Leader, A Sentai Critic said "Go Watch GoGo V instead if you want full team sibling sentai instead."

Kakuranger is getting an 30th anniversary special episode.

At this point, I wished Toei just takes the rights of Power Rangers away from Hasbro and just release Super Sentai.

The rights situation is pretty funky, I think. I don't know the particulars, but since Bandai no longer has the merchandise rights in the US I am curious if Toei would even be able to get the rights and then continue US release. Power Rangers as a brand still had viability, Hasbra simply doesn't know how to make use of it based on their style of operating. If Toei and Bandai were able to secure the rights again and work together to release the series I wouldn't be surprised if they simply created or contracted out a production company to continue to produce new seasons.

Well, that's...not too surprising. Honestly, can anyone hold onto Power Rangers rights for more than a few years?
-
Yeah, the only company that's doing anything with Power Rangers recently is pretty much just Shout Factory and they are ones that release the dvds for Power Rangers (Season 1- 17) and Super Sentai.
-
I just finished up Gekiranger. Really solid season. Great characters, story arcs, and action scenes, and the villains go through an arc that had me feeling emotional by the end. Not quite S tier for me, but still a solid A.
Next up I'm going back to the Showa era with Battle Fever J, the season with the butt ugly Ranger costumes.
-
I wonder how long until they try another live action movie reboot?
