Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...

For all we know they are all holding score cards and doing a whole jury judgement on style, form and execution
**D: Nice to meet you today, Oda-sensei. Now, here is my question to you. Who is it that takes those pictures for the wanted posters distributed by the Marines?
**
O: That'd be this dude here.
Name: Attach Nickname: Atta-chan.
He's extremely quick and can sneak into any place he wants. He is called "Flaming Atta-chan" because he yells "Fire!!" whenever he hits the shutter.
I'm not surprised that we got instant confirmation that Luffy's not dead.
Consider this parallel:
Pretty similar scenarios.
Luffy got a second bite of the apple, dealt some good blows, then got dispatched/defeated for a short bit.
In Alabasta Luffy was instantly revived afterwards by his water blasts, then he took a 5 minute nap before he entered round 3.
Replace that with him getting revived by the Heart Pirates this time around, and it's pretty much the same frame.
Yamato VS Kaido will rage for a little bit, but Luffy will eventually come back up and tag team for his round 3.
The communication between Luffy and Momo seems silly and bland
IMO.

If things are supposed to parallel the fight with Crocodile then Yamato is about to get beat before Luffy fights Kaido again. :getlost:
I love how there were certain characters that just inherently believed in Luffy regardless of Bao Huang’s announcement. They rejected the contents of the announcement instantaneously and continued their fight unaffected. Considering these characters connection with Luffy and the intimate relation they have built up with him over the story, it makes sense that characters like Zoro, Sanji, Robin and Law had little doubts to Luffy’s survival and eventual return to finish off Kaido. In particular, Robin’s reaction to Luffy’s message almost seemed to border on amusement as if she expected such an inexplicable response from someone possessing the ‘Will of D’. Having cast herself wholeheartedly into the Straw Hat Pirates, Robin has learned to never underestimate Luffy. But as certain as Robin was, the validation of her belief in Luffy must have inspired her regardless.
!

Well, obviously I only meant parallel in the sense of what I already showed.
Not that it would mean Yamato would get Robin'd.
and I wasn't making a definitive "everything about the Kaido fight is based on Alabasta" comment, I was being verrrry very specific with a certain element of things that I thought lined up in a cool way,
which meant I wasn't surprised that we were so quick to confirm that Luffy was okay.
Everything going forward is still up in the air, but I really bet hard on Yamato keeping Kaido busy until Luffy wakes up and gets back up there to assist.
Oda likes drawing stuff that he thinks is cool, so I have no reason to doubt (at the moment) that he'll include a tag team battle for Yamato & Luffy.
That's basically my thought process here
Thanks Shift.
This chapter really made me doubt if there was going to be a full raid failure and reset, but it would definitely be more interesting if there was one.
Same. It's really tough to say, Oda keeps making me flip flop lol. I'm gonna go with no at this point, just heavy suffering to get there. The battles will just spread out over Wano, I think. Which makes me wonder how Onigashima will land safely because it's basically already there.
I mean this assumes it has to land safely in the first place, it might not. People can mass evacuate.
–---
Great chapter, I think this will be the one to end 100 if Oda decides to push the length a little. Much more hopeful end.
Sanji gets a MUCH needed cool moment, legit funny comedy with Sanji's human beatstick.
Sooo, the deaths. Given the track record of the series I understand hesitancy, buuut given the pattern of most fake-out deaths (the injury is off-screen), whereas I thought Kin was just heavily injured last chapter, I now think he's dead. I'll give that small benefit of the doubt because Chopper's potentially freed up. I also think Kiku's dead.
It's important to remember Yasu died before the war even began, and that's with both Chopper and Law on Wano.
I'm still doubtful Zoro and Sanji can actually handle King and Queen.
We did got Bambozleed with Ulti and PayPay, so I'll expect more similar surprises.

Ah…...if only it were that simple. The scenarios might have some similarities but they have two completely different context.
You see back then, in the crocodile scenario, Luffy was getting smacked every time and he was moving ahead on lucks, shananigans, Deus Ex Machinas and just down right ridiculousness while an atmosphere of incapability and lack of assurance surrounded him . Here with Kaido Luffy is not necessarily getting owned. He has been gifted two power ups belonging to the strongest and the elites specially the last one and he was starting to give as good as he was getting with a completely opposite atmosphere and capability than the crocodile scenario. I know your point is Oda not marinating enough on the straw hats helplessness in both scenarios but there was a greatest helplessness in the way that Luffy was getting owned in the crocodile scenario to his predicament now with Kaido and I prefer the latter.
And no, I don’t think there will be tag team round 3 nor I would like there to be.
I mean Oda had it built in from the get go that 9 ppl would defeat Kaido. Not just 9 ppl will start to fight him and then leave the rest to Luffy.
Its totally reasonable that Luffy doesn't finish this alone.
Not to mention all 9 ppl have yet to actually gather to face Kaido yet.

Are you referring to what lady Toki said?. And who do you believe are these 9 people?.
I think she was talking about the 9 red scabbards but lets say she was referring to someone else. You think these 9 people are 9 of the supernovas?. Right now on the battlefield we have only 8, Capone, the monk and Bonney are nowhere to be found here. The supernovas can still make their impacts, and some of them are(law, kid), while Luffy solos Kaido from this point on.
If 9 supernovas were gonna be standing up against Kaido as some kind of conclusion to a built storyline, I think that ship has sailed and that image has already been done with 5 (Luffy Zoro law kid and killer)

Yes. I dunno really. I'm open for Oda to surprise me. I'd say Luffy is in there, probably Momo, most likely Yamato.
I don't think it was the 9 scabbards at all. Especially since they got their asses beat again. Kaido is now killing them. Hard to even call them 9 red scabbards when Kanjuro was a spy all along.
No I don't think they're the "9 supernovas" cuz first of all there are 11 supernovas. Plus Bonney, Bege, and Urouge aren't there and most likely will not show up.
The 9 shadows Toki mentioned I just naturally assumed would be 9 characters who would stand up against Kaido. Could be any mix of 9 characters currently involved. Could just be 9 strawhat pirates. Could be a couple samurai, a few supernova, and Tama. It's still wait and see as of now.
Is Oda really going to kill the retainers off? So much brutality. Damn. If they are perma-dead, Momo will need replacements.
Queen just keeps disrespecting Chopper. He is not a raccoon dog!
My current guess is Queen was a scientist made into a failed prototype for the Pacifistas. After leaving, started self-experimentating after joining Kaido. Probably have to wait until Emerald City to see the science team of Vegapunk, Judge, Ceasar, Queen, and Indigo.
It's about time Yamato faced Kaido. I'm ready for the Kaido flashback. I expect epicness.
CP0 have a human Mary with them, it’s entirely plausible that Marys witnessed the fight on the rooftop
the battles on the roof are hard to measure in bounties. Like Zoro would get a bounty because he traded some blows withe the yonkous next to 4 other guys? At least luffy will get a bounty for defeating kaidou, and sanji would get IT for defeating queen.

All would get a raised bounty only for opposing 2 yonkou at the same time and living to tell the tale…

This makes me wonder what someone like Mihawk did to even get a bounty.
Like, why did the government consider fighting with swordsmen a crime.

Mihawk is a psychopath who killed 5000 people because he was bored. In one trip.
He's easily the most messed up Warlord, at least the one with the highest confirmed killcount.

I mean yeah, from a logical perspective that makes sense.
But he was doing it to pirates, so from a story perspective, that isn't a crime.
Was he killing off civilians before he became a pirate?
Actually, now that I think about it, why did Zoro have a bounty even though he was known as a pirate hunter? What was the government's beef with him? He had it before he met helmeppo.
Some chapters back, it felt like Pero would be going after Marco. Recent chapters have shown him picking on Chopper and so many others. If Neko is meant for Pero, King for Zoro, and Sanji for Queen, where does Marco end up?
Help Yamato w/ Kaido? Or Kid and Law with BM? If it is 1 of the 2, I think he would fit better with Yamato. I've suspected that Yamato might have a dog based DF, so that would make Yamato the dog, Marco the pheasant, and Luffy the monkey.
I'm interested if Oda will reveal more concerning Kid's abilities because him and Law might complement each other more. Magnetism and the way Law manipulates space in his room provides potential for great combinations. A plethora of the operating room's capabilities can be used to possibly get to the bottom of BM's ridiculous skin and strength. Law and Kid are perfect to keep BM busy. If BM's Haki was too strong (1009) for Law to move her, then maybe Kid's magnetism can affect Law's spatial abilities or vice versa. I remember it does not only switch things, he can levitate them and use electric charges. That is similar to the basic function of magnetism anyway. So there's no just room for basic combinations, they can possibly amply each other's attacks. Kid and Law>>Protagonist & Law already.
What they did on the roof of the skull is nothing compared to what might be done here. I might be remembering this incorrectly, but I think Napoleon works similar to a radio as well. Can Napoleon be messed with and used against BM?
Speaking of Napoleon, I still don't know what he is. Sword, hat, radio. This makes me question Zeus-tact. Usopp and Franky upgraded Nami's climatact and it had all those Weatheria devices (822), so is this part of Zeus or is it just the tool that holds the Weatheria devices. The Pop green and Weatheria mix makes this even cooler. Being a homie already comes with some flexibility. This homie stuff has been really dope. I like Zeus-tact, but the homies made from DF abilities like Cracker's biscuit soldiers that walked the towns and Pero's slug are cooler. Would like to see more of those.
Some chapters back, it felt like Pero would be going after Marco. Recent chapters have shown him picking on Chopper and so many others. If Neko is meant for Pero, King for Zoro, and Sanji for Queen, where does Marco end up?
.
I think its been established that Marco is losing strength/haki/stamina from fighting both King and Queen.
So he'll probably sit out from any major battles and probably concentrate on being a medic. Possibly for the Wano citizens below.

Marco fought Roger's crew for 3 days. He had a bandage and everything. I think he has enough to help against Kaido. This battle hasn't lasted long.

Actually, now that I think about it, why did Zoro have a bounty even though he was known as a pirate hunter? What was the government's beef with him? He had it before he met helmeppo.
He didnt, Zoro got his first bounty after Alabasta but he had a bad reputation as an infamous bounty hunter -> something along the lines of what he is doing isnt technically illegal but he is hardly better than those he hunts.
As for Mihawk killing Krieg crew yes, you are right there and I'd also like to point out that destroying other pirates is kinda in Warlards job description / expectations
To me, as well:
- Turn floor into rubber to save crewmates or act as a spring for high jumps
- Make opponents bounce off walls/objects and back into his attacks
- Give any object Luffy’s resistance to blunt attacks and bullets
- Make the Sunny immune to cannon fire
- Interesting combo attacks in which crewmates use rubber walls/floor to their advantage
Could be that Onigashima falls at one point (Kaido inconscious?) and then the island is turned into a giant bouncing ball and jumps all over Wano
This makes me wonder what someone like Mihawk did to even get a bounty.
Like, why did the government consider fighting with swordsmen a crime.
It's even more confusing of you consider that, while luffy already had a 100 million bounty BEFORE even committing his first crime, Blackbeard, who was a long-time member of the most powerful crew in the world, scarred an emperor, killed a commander, and ravaged world government kingdoms… Was still at 0. Bounties are quite random like that
@statu:

oh yeah, Zoro was infamous but he didn't have a bounty.
As for mihawk, I am more curious as to what he used to do before he became a Warlord. If he was just beating up pirates, he wouldn't have a bounty. So was he running around beating up marines and civilians too?
I mean yeah, from a logical perspective that makes sense.
But he was doing it to pirates, so from a story perspective, that isn't a crime.
That's true, but the point is that he's making extremely generous use of the fact that he has a license to kill.
Like no one forced Mihawk to slaughter 5000 people, while making sure that no one survives (even going the extra mile by following them into the weakest sea to finish off the handful escapees).
He just likes to kill. Or "squash insects", in his own words.
So the Psycho-Warlord ranking is something like this:
1. Doflamingo
2. Mihawk
gap
3. Crocodile
large gap
4. Hancock / Jinbe during his hooligan days
5. Weevil
6. Blackbeard
large gap
7. Moriah
8. Law
(curiously what Moriah did was really tame in comparison, a super effective Warlord without actually killing anyone)
gap
9. Buggy
I've been reading some strange tales regarding the Zoro situation after the last chapter
I mean do you seriously think that Zoro gonna have a comeback in this war ?
Because it appears to me that Zoro is severely injured to rate that he can't move or even stand
Which means logically he would need quite the time frame to heal, recover and rehab after Chopper's treatment
Because broken bones are different story, Even Ivankov's miracles can't instantly help it.

If Sanji defeats Queen, I'm certain Zoro will defeat King.
Marco or Chopper will heal him just enough for him to pull out some crazy attack to defeat an already worned out King.
I disagree, especially given his opening attack on Queen. Chopper is what it looks like when you're truly out of Queen's league. Sanji already proved that he was more than capable of fighting a Tobi Roppo. His clash with Page One didn't leave him feeling like an underdog. And with his new power-up, we don't know where his new ceiling is. So Queen, a Yonko Commnander, is the perfect matchup for him because YC-level fighters are the only matchup for Sanji on Onigashima outside of the Yonko themselves that would have readers view him as an underdog. And being an underdog is exactly what Oda prefers for the Strawhats, where you wonder how they'll pull off their win. Whereas if he fought a Tobi Roppo, you wouldn't get that same feeling at all.
Yeah, that was an impressive opening attack but so far Sanji has struggled against Vergo, he struggled against the Charlotte's (admittedly there were a lot of them) and, even though he ultimately won, he struggled against Page One. While Queen handled (a somewhat down-powered) Big Mom and Monster Point Chopper (even if he's not much of a fighter Chopper is extremely strong in that form) rather easily.
This is going to be the arc where Luffys "Fifth Emperor" title goes from being tabloid nonsense to reality, and the rest of the crew needs to show they're up there too, so Sanji's going to win, I'm just not seeing how at the moment.
If Sanji defeats Queen, I'm certain Zoro will defeat King.
Marco or Chopper will heal him just enough for him to pull out some crazy attack to defeat an already worned out King.
Or, as has been proposed here, Chopper uses the Ice-Oni virus and subsequently the "vaccin" which turned Hyogorou into hulk Hyogorou so that Zoro's injuries vanish for a period of time BUT gives him a timelimit in which he needs to defeat his foe.

It would be an easy way to utilize Marco and get him out of the fight if his most potent (and personally depleting) healing technique was used to give Zoro a chance to beat King.

Then, what would've been the point of having him there in the first place?

100% fanservice.
For reasons I don't understand he's incredibly popular in Japan.

Not gonna get into the Vergo thing since that's been discussed endlessly, but in no way did he struggle against Page One. Especially not when considering the context of him testing out what the raid suit can do. It's because of that same fight that made it obvious that Sanji needs an opponent stronger than Page One to actually make readers wonder how he'll win. But at the same time, it's not like he has no business fighting Queen, especially when he literally just got a new power up.

As people have already stayed, Chopper making use of a virus would defeat the entire point of him chastising Queen for utilizing viruses.
Did anyone at any point of Pay Pay being used as a football while screaming out in pain think -Gee i wonder if Sunkist can take more of this fierce face to foot technique.

Seriously, what is kawaii about Marco? He is basically a pineapple with glasses on and has the blandest design in Wano…
Then, what would've been the point of having him there in the first place?
I can think of lots of potential reasons.
1. The already mentioned fanservice.
2. Having the pheasant motif present in the battle for the momotaro motif.
3. To have Zoro give Kaido a scar that might have an impact on the final battle against Luffy.
4. To heal people and give Chopper time to cure Queen's virus.
5. To witness the death of a Whitebeard Pirates co-commander, Izo, and represent the Whitebeard pirates alongside him.
6. To hold back Queen and King temporarily while Oda has the other characters doing the things he wants them to.
7. For some reason we can't even guess at yet unrelated to "getting a fight."
Or everything I said could be wrong and he just ends up getting a one-on-one fight with someone.
Seriously, what is kawaii about Marco? He is basically a pineapple with glasses on and has the blandest design in Wano…
I'm not a huge fan of Marco, but I get the appeal. The biggest part of it is just his awesome devil fruit. A light blue and yellow mythical pheonix with glasses and healing powers is just really cool. Add to that his sort of metro style and his lean build and he actually stands out, epsecially among the rest of Whitebeard's elite. I understand the love for Marco more than I do for Ace.
Marco's flame healing is very limited on others
It will be a contradiction if it does some magic to Zoro !
My prediction : Zoro's role is done in this war and tbh we've passed approximately 70% of the Onigashima raid
When luffy comes back only the final touches would remain to wrap it up.

The only thing Zoro really needs is a bathtub full of milk.

Marco said that his regenerating flames only have a small effect on others, but that it boosts their natural healing. That second part strikes me as something that would be great news for Luffy and Zoro and I'm not convinced that he wouldn't have a healing trump card up his sleave, only to be used in the most dire conditions. That along with Chopper's own skills as a doctor make me doubt that Zoro won't get something else to do, but I could be wrong.
I think Zoro will be the one to ultimately deal with Orochi; he will be too injured to do anything else even after Chooper and possibly Marco go to work on him. And Sanji will need help against Queen if he is to really defeat him as Queen is supposed to be on another level to Page One who Sanji didn't even really damage; just dominated.
About denjiro, hyiori and orochi are out there, could be the 3 reunite and solve their problems.

You are forgetting the mysterious samurai healer.
We all think it s hiyori and she has a hard on for Zoro, so she might work especially hard.

You know, we've never actually seen Mihawk portray any qualities of a "good guy"
So you are right. He probably even chased down civilian ships and killed them off because they probably bumped his Skiff or something.
You are forgetting the mysterious samurai healer.

I mean it's not like Hiyori did anything special, can't see her doing more than Chopper and/or Marco, that's for sure
I hadn't even considered Zoro fighting Orochi, but it would make sense.
Even in a full body cast the Z man should be able to make Oro-dude piss himself
