One Piece manga will enter its 23th Anniversary along with the release of Ch.985 which will include :
I'm assuming the announcement has something to do with the Live Action. And cool, a color page!
i assume casting for the One Piece show
Can't wait for the color spread.
Maybe we will finally see Jinbe and his intended signature color?
Perhaps a new movie too?
I really hope they finally anounce live action stuff! Nice!
Dang, we are almost hitting 25 years already, god damn it. Times going super fast. Probs gonna read this 10 years later, see myself then.
Bandai Namco is having a live stream on July 22nd, which is also One Piece Day. There's a chance for something video game related to be announced there.

World seeker already came and went. Wich one piece videogame has been the most successful?
The big announcement is that One Piece is cancelled and will end on chapter 986.
@Cyan:
The big announcement is that One Piece is cancelled and will end on chapter 986.
And they will rename the manga: "GONE PIECE".

Either PW3 or one of the mobile games is my guess. World Seeker is the best one tho imo.

Seeing how they keep making sequels, Pirate Warriors.
Along with the mobile games.
An ArcSystems made fighting game.
@Johnny:
An ArcSystems made fighting game.
That would be pretty sweet but I don't think One Piece has the worldwide following that Dragonball does (its getting there though).
I'm up for another film as the last one was pretty decent (they've only been getting better which is a good trajectory).
Arc System did a one piece fighting game for the 3ds, thats probably why people want them to do another one but for the consoles this time.
I mean Arc still makes Guilty Gear & Blaze Blue games and I doubt those a huge sellers, so I can't see why not.
DB had the Budokai series and Naruto has the UNS series. Why can't there be a quality game for OP. Every attempt has been so lame. Burning Blood, Pirate Warriors, and World Seeker all trash.
I think of the adventures and how vast the OP world is and I question why they don't take advantage of that. Pirate Warriors running from area to area, while fighting fodder to meet the boss is so boring. BB's arcade setup is too 1 dimensional for OP. World Seeker is the best effort and even that is trash.
I still have hope that a developer will come around and make a game that matches the fact that OP is the manga of the moment for the last 5 years at least.

Grand Battle 3 and 4 were great.
a new grand battle would be sweet!
You can tell how old a poster is when they fail to mention Grand Battle and One Piece Unlimited. lol
I'm usually in the middle when it comes to age on OP related forums. I'm guessing most must be 35+ on here cuz i'm 27

I remember my local Target having a demo of it in their gamecube display.

Same here. I still play the Grand Battle games from time to time. I'm 23 now.
i had it both for ps1 and ps2, the good old days when all the east blue villains used to be playable lmao.
a grand battle inspired by smash bros, and maybe the bandai team who worked on smash bros could help out along with like 50+ characters lots of modes, online and replay ability would be gold.
Imagine if you could ride the Rocket Man on your way to Ennies Lobby, play 1 of the Davy Back games, outsmart Merry Christmas n Mr. 4, traverse the Milky Road, steer the Merry into the depths b4 reaching Fishman Island? The OP world is vast, yet when I play some of the games, it feels like they're not taking advantage of that.
The story provides so much that can make a game easily surpass Budokai or UNS
A One Piece Smash Bros clone sounds absolutely fantastic, and is definitely one of the best options for the franchise. Especially if they can nail a roster the size of Smash Ultimate's, because god knows we've got the cast for it.
People love to talk about their idealised One Piece open world MMORPG with full faction selection and character creation or whatever, but I feel like no one thinks through how something like that would actually play. That whole open world is gonna fall apart pretty quick when you hit the Grand Line and have to commit to a single linear string of log pose designated islands with no deviation until you get rare items like eternal poses and vivre cards. I want to explore a 1:1 recreation of the OP universe as much as anyone else, but it's just not made for that (not to mention the amount of non-canon content that would have to be generated to fill out the other Grand Line routes and Blues and make enough unique devil fruits for OC crews to track some down without doubling up on a canon character and breaking the lore) and it's ridiculous how often the idea gets floated around reddit and the like.
My compromise is this: A One Piece collectathon platformer. Think about it. Each major island from the story as a mini sandbox stage, no need to worry about the scale of the ocean sections between them or anything like that, but you still get to explore the exciting bits. Make it something like Mario Odyssey where there's a reward in every corner, but they're all tied to little references and near-forgotten side characters from the relevant arc. Hide shit everywhere you can to make exploring worthwhile, but also make a string of main missions for each area to progress something close to the main plot. And there's Luffy! He's got a great moveset for a platforming hero. Stretchy arms to grapple and swing with. A rubber body for bouncing. Gum Gum UFO for a midair hover. It seems like it would be so easy to make a good, smooth-feeling movement system for Luffy and build some run-and-jump versions of familiar islands around it. I think that'd work heaps better and allow for a lot more fanservice than the clunky standard beat-em-ups we tend to get.
Pirate Warriors 3 was pretty fun though, the musuo model definitely isn't a bad fit by any means.
I was thinking more of playing a multiplayer campaign with the actual crew. I would hate character creation. I view the crew as ideal. Pirate Warriors feels too cramped in and repetitive.
With OP's popularity and the lacking of a real game that leaves it's mark, I start to remember the Dragon Shit Evolution writer that said he was just getting paid to do a job and didn't know how popular or adored DB was to take it seriously.
There's really a chance that some of these developers just don't care and think everyone will take anything. I've seen how some of those involved with the movies talk about Oda. Some of them sound like OP fans. I don't love every OP movie, but I respect the effort. Even the showrunner for the live action movie leaves me optimistic after I was so negative about it at first. The games just don't hit like that. Running from area to area, just knocking around the same fodder with different colors is tiring
I'd definitely agree that terrible enemy variety is one of the biggest flaws not just of PW but of every musuo game I've seen. The core spectacle of being able to mash into hoards of hundreds of foes like they're nothing lasts just long enough for the main campaign (especially considering how often Luffy does exactly that in canon), but I wouldn't want to try a 100% run of any of the games. It's a shallow experience, but not a bad one, and you could do far worse for anime games.
It really would be great to see something more One Piece from someone who really cares about the series though. And not just One Piece, there's so many generic action mashers and arena fighters in the anime game market. It's easier to slap a skin on something familiar than really think about how the unique story ideas of a property could translate to gameplay. I thought World Seeker was a strong step in the right direction on this front just because they treated it more like one of the movies with an original plot and some original characters from Oda to get the vibe right. If they can keep working on his involvement in them and tighten up the moment to moment gameplay a bit more, they could end up with something pretty great another entry or two down the line.
This thing about "announcing an announcement" is quite annoying
Holdup now… an original adventure made by Oda like some of the movies isn't a bad idea at all.
I look at the MHA and One Punch Man games and try to act like they don't exist.
Yup, licensed properties from established manga brands tend to not get the same treatment as the AAA games
Hope it's live action related, never was into comics/ anime, need the live action version already.

That's pretty much my ideal version of a One Piece game. Play through the story and the world of One Piece by creating a big stages to explore, with main missions, side missions, NPC characters to interact with and talk to, collectibles hidden everywhere…awesome. You could also make it so that certain areas of a stage are only accessible with certain characters, like Zoro or Brook have to cut something that's in the way first, Usopp has to shoot something from afar to lower a bridge or something, Franky can build ladders or bridges like in Unlimited Cruise, Nami can steal keys from guards to open closed doors etc.. So you could revisit the stages once you've unlocked certain characters or abilities in order to complete the 100%, like you do with the Lego games...I like that sort of stuff. And the One Piece world is sooo rich with characters and little details that there is ton of easter eggs that could be put in such a game.
Weekly Shonen Jump 33-34, Celebrating 23th anniversary !!
One Piece will have a new TV program called "One Piece Variety".
One Piece will have a new TV program called "One Piece Variety".
Any real details?
Like will it just be the One Piece equivalent of this?
No Netflix live action news? Boo!
(great cover, though)

There was a game like that wasn't there? Super Grand Battle X for the 3DS. I didn't play it myself but I did play the Gigant Battle series which seems pretty similar.
Of all the One Piece games I've played, I think Unlimited Cruise is the one that's left the biggest impression on me. It really felt like I was exploring new islands with the whole crew.
And the fanservice battles were pretty nice.
Not sure about this, but seems One Piece Variety will start on 7th of Aug.

Does anyone have any insight into the little sketches in the background of the Jump cover? Are they Oda's? Contributions from other artists? They don't look exactly like a match for the left-handed art shown off inside the issue.
Also, just as an observation, that silhouetted mass of Wano characters is shaped and proportioned just right to potentially fill the space under the One Piece logo on a volume cover, and is being shown off next to another figure set that also represents a volume cover at a time when we're about due for a new cover, and one that is very likely to feature a whole lot of Kaido's crew members. Hmmmm. I'll see you guys on Wednesday for the reveal.

So those are the mystery silhouette figures.
Really surprised not only the fire bit was not Ace, but Ace it not there at all. Something must be wrong.
Kaido's face, tho
Why Sabo is in the Wano visuals will always bug me.
