First look at Naomi for CW
First look at Naomi for CW
Damn, the acting in those first three episodes of Titans Season Three is insanely good. Glen's Bruce Wayne really goes all-in on the brokenness. It's a shame that DC just won't let us have one scene of him in suit. I'll piss myself if we get a flashback episode near the end of the season that shows these first three episodes from Bruce's POV.
Stargirl Season Two Episode #6 had a really nice extended fight scene. I'm glad that they've been mostly holding back on the stunts to make the big fights more impactful insofar. I'm always a big fan of quality over quantity and here it definitely paid off. The set and prop destruction was so good! Aah!!
Jay Garrick from The Flash will be guest starring in Episode #9. I guess we'll find out if he's now from the Post-Crisis Earth-2 or if Crisis made him a resident of Earth-Prime…

Jay showed up(without nobody mentioning how exactly) in the season finale of the Flash. So it seems he(and his wife) just survived Crisis and are on Earth Prime.
I'd imagine JWS is playing an alternate Jay from Earth 2.

Yeah, it was established that he and Joan were living on Earth-Prime in an interview but we don't know what else. For all we know he now has a history as the Jay Garrick of the Post-Crisis Earth-2, too. I guess we'll see in Episode #9.
On the 4th episode of Y The Last Man and I like it so far.
Not a big issue, but i'm just not sold on things getting this bad if all men were to just die. My understanding is that women work many of these things just as well, so there might be struggles due to the number of workers for a power grid or water company. The fact that many of these things come off as not working at all is not working for me.
I been marathoning through Stargirl Season 2. This season been crazy so far (I'm up to episode 7). The big fight scene that in episode 6 is in my opinion is one of the best fight scenes I ever seen on CW DC shows.
The quality-over-quality of the action scenes is definitely welcomed. I'm hoping Superman & Lois will do the same in Season Two so that Clark's fights aren't just ten seconds long. I'm looking forward to seeing if they can match or surpass Episode #6 in the finalé!
I need to catch up on Superman and Lois. From what I watch so far (The first 6 episodes). I really enjoyed the series.

The storylines and acting are really good. The production schedule creeps into the series a bit, so I'm hoping the second season manages to fix that a bit.
I finished up Stargirl Season 2.
! I'm curious to where this storyline with Slyvester starting to train Courtney goes. Also I can't wait for more of "Stargirl: Frenemies" with Dugan and Crock families.
Peacemaker is awesome. My favorite show of 2022 so far. I know we haven't got that far yet.
I've been a James Gunn fan since "Super". Then the first Guardians movie came out about two weeks after my brother passed away, and that film was my escape from the world. And then I loved Guardians 2 even more than the first.
But when I saw TSS, my reaction was "meh". I didn't think it was bad. It was certainly entertaining. But it just felt like the exactly what you'd expect from a headline reading "James Gunn from 'guardians of the galaxy' to lead a DC Suicide Squad film". I especially wasn't happy with -what I saw as a waste of talent- with Idris playing a version of Bloodsport that was nearly identical to Will Smith's Deadshot character. Down to nearly the exact same background.
So when I heard they'd be spinning off Peacemaker, I wasn't excited. It seemed like a knee-jerk move for Warner to capitalize on the time James Gunn was briefly away from Marvel after his bullshit firing, but without any real reason in terms of the larger DCEU.
Well the DCEU has continued to rapidly fall apart, but we got one fucking amazing show out of it and I was proven dead wrong. Peacemaker was fucking amazing.
This really reminded me more of "super" than "guardians". In all of the best of ways.
I actually haven't even seen either Suicide Squad movie. I probably wouldn't have watched Peacemaker if not for the word of mouth.
It was ok, just wasn't a big fan of the humor. Vigilante was my favorite character.
Oh man, I laughed so hard. Great soundtrack too. I was into that kind of music briefly in the late 80's. Or were you talking about SS?
Peacemaker's use of metal was really good. I wish more shows and films used such energetic and lively music.
I really enjoyed The Suicide Squad. I did not like the Guardians of the Galaxy films but The Suicide Squad leaned into gore and rougher humor that seemed less squeaky clean and I enjoyed that. The actors all seemed much more loose for it, too. Peacemaker was similarly loose but also had a really nice set of character-focused moments that gave the actors more than one mode to play, which was nice. Definitely hoping Chris and Adrian become a couple next season!
I really like peacemaker too.
I just think that sometimes they committed too much to the bit and the show kind of kicked out my suspension of disbelief

It was a pretty well-directed episode. I think the acting performances were what really sold it but I did enjoy the opening montage, too.
I wonder if Johnson will get to act in the series?
That opening montage was amazing in Superman this week.
After dropping off Legends at the start of last season, I hopped on the last few episodes of this season. They aired their finale last night and introduced a big DC Time traveling character
! Booster Gold. Though I'm not thrilled with the finale ending showing yet ANOTHER organization policing time. There were the Time Masters, their replacement the Time Bueru, and now these new time cops
The creators of Harley Quinn and HBO Max are developing a spinoff called Noonan's with Kite Man as the lead.
Noonan's is the bar in the Harley Quinn series that was introduced in the comics in 1993.
Kite Man now owns the bar and the series is compared to Cheers.
"He tries to run the bar by himself but it doesn't turn out so easy," Schumacker explained. "We have Harley and Ivy appear in the first episode, but after that, we have with different goons and villains appearing every episode like Lex Luthor and Bane. It will be kind of like 'Cheers' for supervillains."

Ugh, not Kite-Incel. :\
Since when the board was down, the new season of Harley Quinn have started. This show continues to be amazing. The first episode of season 3 have some of the funniest moments in the series so far. Joker's musical performance in the third episode was just amazing.
@Sano Let's just hope it survives the WB/Discovery merge purge.
I hope Harley Quinn survives the WB/Discovery merger. Because of the merger, one of the show that watch Snowpiercer (I recommend the show.) is ending with the upcoming 4th season.
It's so sad to see the Arrowverse ending after so many years. I hope The Flash manages to send us off on a nice note. :(
I liked Sandman. I think more adaptations should have the creators as EPs or consultants at least.
Well what a nice surprise, some extra episodes came out for Sandman:
https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/sandman-episode-11-release-date-dream-of-a-thousand-cats-calliope
Maybe I'm sorely out of the loop, but I had no idea they were doing these, so I wasn't expecting that!
I was kind of curious how they'd do the one-off stories, and this seems like a great way to do it - releasing them as specials.
I've enjoyed Watchmen, Preacher, Sandman, Y: The Last Man, Sweet Tooth, Swamp Thing. I need more "Vertigo" series.
Animal Man, Transmetroplitan, Get Jiro, Incognegro, and The Invisibles would make for decent series.
I don’t know if this is the place to post this or not…
I swear if they end up cutting the Blue Beetle film.
Xolo is literally the perfect actor for the role, the suit looks amazing. I really hope they don't screw this up.
Though not likely as the Arrowverse is now torched and done, while they're actively trying to transplant Diggle -an original character to Arrow with 8 seasons of character development- into the new "superverse" for a spinoff. About a Diggle we have never known, but conveniently also worked with Oliver Queen who also conveniently died a martyr in some undisclosed incident that Superman was also conveniently involved.
This company is a mess of smaller companies that are also a mess
I doubt any of the theatrical releases are under threat. This current regime have shown they are after Max projects because they will ultimately fold Max and release the combined service next June. That was the confirmed date anyway. Going forward, it's more about which HBO Max projects survive the purge.
Batgirl and Wonder Twins were Max films and not theatrical. There are a couple other Max films like Black Canary and Zatanna in development. Those are the films that most likely get axed. The only way to save them is if they are flipped to theatrical or series that are aimed at the newer service.
This is the result of constant change at leadership. AT&T came in and many things they didn't sign off on got similar treatment. DC Universe had to go through hell. Now, Zaslav is doing the same to strategies and projects that were the babies of AT&T.
Separating movies into two categories, made for cinemas and only made for the streaming channel, isn't a trend I particularly care for. I guess "streaming only" is the new "direct to dvd" release....
It's so awful to see streaming treated that way. Streaming was a perfect way to phase out theaters during a pandemic and focus on not subjecting us to pandemics and now this weird bullshit idea that 'streaming is for bad quality projects' is just weird to me because they control the quality of the projects. Quality isn't some random thing that happens as a matter of nature.
The problem is, now that cinema's are open again, it just feels weird to me that some films are not "allowed", so to speak, to play on the big screen. Recent Pixar movies have particularly been a victim of this trend. It just makes it seem like the producer's don't have much faith in their quality or something.
Like, why was Batgirl supposed to only be released on HBO Maxx in the first place? I mean, obviously get that the main purpose is to force people to subscribe to your streaming service. But why this film in particular? Because the producers didn't expect it to make much money at the box office? That's the only feasible conclusion I can come up with. And it must suck for the people working on the movie that isn't considered for a release in theaters while other films are, like what kind of message does that send.
Obviously, that's still better than not getting your movie released at all...
I hope in an effort to increase membership’s on there streaming services they don’t unintentionally destroy the movie theater business
It's theatre vs streaming. Theatre has slowly been dying and the pandemic has sped up the process. The problem is that while theatres have been slowly dying, streaming is still not strong enough and proven.
Cineworld (2nd largest theatre chain) is currently considering bankruptcy (ch. 11). AMC (largest theatre chain) has been noted to take many loses as well. Right now, the 5 major film studios are doing all they can to save theatres. That is the agenda.
Films are struggling to recoup (returns are 3x production cost) in their theatre only windows and it almost has to be some comic book adaptation or sequel to save theatres for the year.
Recent example is Nope. Universal and mainly Peele's Monkeypaw came up to 68M in production cost. It would have to hit 204M to recoup and justify putting up that much at the theatre. It is currently at 133M after being out a month. This is partially why studios don't fund newer and more original ideas as much as before.
Theatres are currently waiting on Cameron's Avatar 2, Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam and Wakanda Forever to possibly start up more activity. The focus is on theatre revenue because if the studios have to rely on streaming, merch, and Blu-ray to get what they put in back, theatres start to look like a lost cause.
So, there might be some aggression from certain studios concerning streaming. There are many creatives voicing their displeasure with the treatment of their projects. Especially the animated ones from HBO Max.
Harley Quinn is getting a 4th season.

I love the Crocks so much. They're so silly but also they're played in these super straight scenarios so it's even funnier. I hope we get more characterization for Artemis and her weird personality remains while she also matures as a character. I really don't have it in me for betrayal or heartbreak right now. lol
I'm betting that Mr. Bones killed The Gambler...but for what exact purpose? I'm willing to be that he was involved in Sylvester's resurrection and that the season will end with Sylvester betraying the team (unwittingly or not) and then sacrificing his life for redemption.
I hope we get to see more of Jennie this season! I really vibe with her and I also love her powers! I want to see where her story goes and if we'll get to see Obsidian and Alan on-screen at all.
Harley Quinn show is so good. The way they approach Dick and Bruce. Barbara and Jim's relationship. Clayface is just a beautiful character. Psycho having a pod from prison.
Yeah, S3 was pretty great.
They will be splitting Titans and Doom Patrol's next seasons into 2 parts. Part 1 of Titans begins Nov. 3rd and part 1 of Doom Patrol starts Dec. 8th

10/26 Edit
Outside of the Penguin series, there is an update on the Arkham Asylum show.
Arkham Asylum, which is set in the "Reevesverse", has found it's showrunner. Antonio Campos will be the director of some episodes as well as showrunner.
From Variety:
Although Matt Reeves had previously said that the originally planned Gotham PD series had “kind of evolved” into what is now the Arkham Asylum show, an individual with knowledge of the situation now says that the two are in fact completely separate and that the Gotham PD series remains in development.

This is weird lol. He said the GCPD series was flipped into the AA series, but now it's confirmed that it wasn't and both exist smh
10/31 update
The purge continues. Stargirl cancelled

It's so sad to see Stargirl go. I was hoping that it could continue because the series was really good. Maybe HBO Max can somehow revive it?
Cristin Milioti will play Sofia Falcone, daughter of Carmine Falcone in The Penguin series.

12/2 update
Great twist in the penultimate Stargirl episode.
I kind of hope that they commit to that twist ending. I miss the Crocks dearly but at this point if the series is going to end then they might as well kill off Pat, too.
Really sucks to see the show end after that great penultimate episode.
Joel Mchale really killed it this season.
