SMT 5 is easily a day one purchase.
I might give Fatal Frame, Advanced wars and Metroid a try. I feel like Nintendo usually does a good job with their glow up.
Except uh maybe skyward sword but we'll see.
The New Nintendo Thread™

Pokemon MOBA coming to Switch and mobile. I like the idea, but Pokemon tends to be held back from its full potential lately.
-
All these years I thought that the name Metroid Dread was just one of those widely-circulated-but-not-actually-factual rumors that penetrated its way into the subconscious meme-sphere. Metroidvanias aren't really my wheelhouse but it looks quite slick!
Metroid Prime 3 had a teaser for it that implied that it would be coming out soon, I'm not sure why.
-
Yet another thread title that aged well (sarcasm). Can you please stop embarassing yourselves… No, changing the year won't be saving you from further embarassment.
-
Metroid Dread looking now better and better to me, can´t wait to get my hands on it, lol.
Botw2 i think more and more that Link will get a grapling hook hand, after seeing a flame thrower and you have to have a unique way of travelling between the floating islands.

The long rumored Switch Pro is kinda real but not really:
TLDR: Bigger OLED screen, no 4k output, handheld still 720p max, wider kickstand, better audio, 64GB internal storage, dock has separate ethernet port, marketed as a third option next to the base Switch and the Switch Lite for 350$
-
I'll avoid reading videogames website comments because it's going to be ridiculous for sure.
Bashing Nintendo for a "Pro" model that never existed outside of some "insiders" news.
It's what I expected from the beginning so I don't see the problem. It never made sense to me that Nintendo would release a much more powerful version now.
A "premium" version ? Sure. But basically a V2 if you believed the leaks, there was no way IMO.
Anyway, I'm fine with my Switch so unless something bad to it or if I feel like owning a 2nd one to play in multiple TVs in my home, I won't upgrade anytime soon.
-

Nintendo set a precedent to release a more powerful version with its own exclusive games when the New Nintendo 3DS was announced but it wasn't nowhere near the rumored jump from barely 1080p to some form of 4k, yeah.
-
I don't know if actual hardware specs have been posted anywhere, but if literally nothing was improved other than the slightly bigger internal memory then what a joke. Sure the ethernet port, which should have been a launch feature, is nice. But otherwise it's really bizarre to me for Nintendo to go "hmmm, what's really holding the Switch back… ahh! The fact that it has an LCD screen instead of OLED! Definitely that!"
-
4k is one thing, but kinda figured they'd at least boost it enough to get decent framerates on their own existing games.
-
No 4K upscaling? And only 64 gigs of of storage
Ouch.
At the very least I hoped they redesigned the dock so that it makes it near impossible to scratch the screen. Has a battery life that’s not shit, and doesn’t have drift issues.
-

Yeah, I thought it was just going to be "the system you need to get so BoTW2 doesn't run like garbage".
The Switch still has many years of life left and now isn't the greatest time to launch a new model so I don't think the Switch Pro dream is dead yet.
Edit: spoke too soon, heh.
Now I can definitely see Nintendo releasing a new system in 2023, with Breath of The Wild 2 releasing on both it and the Switch.

Zelda hacker arrested by police in Japan for selling modified Breath of the Wild save data:
https://soranews24.com/2021/07/10/zelda-hacker-arrested-by-police-in-japan-for-selling-modified-breath-of-the-wild-save-data/amp/Thoughts about this? Should have he gotten arrested for such a thing, even though it was single player? Curious on other's opinions about this.
-
Nothing new Japan has had this really dumb law on the book for years.

I actually read on the IGN preview that they redesigned the dock, to make it's corners smoother and doesn't scratch the screens. Nothing about the drift though.
I've been thinking of investing on a Switch for the past year or so, and I actually had some hopes for the rumors about the Switch Pro but after Nintendo said they wouldn't show anything during E3 my hope went away and I started thinking about the regular Switch again. But then they announce this new model so I'm thinking about getting it, either on release or Christmas.
I guess Nintendo was trying to avoid the hype, they just wanted to put out a new model of the existing console but rumors got out so they maybe changed their plans of showing it during E3 and showed it a month later.
Maybe if they had announced it a couple of weeks before E3 that would deal with the hype. Fans would still get a surprise and they would know not to expect anything more, before rumors got out of control. -
I think this is meant to be something like a DS Lite style of upgrade.
-
And for those complaining about the current dock, it seems the new improved one is also gonna be sold separately, so people have the option to "upgrade" their system a bit.

I've been playing Super Mario 3D all stars and…I now this is sacrilege, but I bailed hard on Super Mario 64. The aged visuals are one thing, but the controls, and the controls in the context of the level design did a number on me (No stop SLIDING Mario goddammit that slope was MINISCULE AAARGH ok lets do a midair kick to cancel the momentum NO DON'T DO A DIVE). By the time I had to look up how to get the giant eel to move (swim close to its face...then up to the surface...then down again???) I pretty much gave up. An important game, but not one I enjoyed playing.
But to be even more sacriligious, I've moved on to Mario Sunshine and…I'm enjoying myself a quite fair bit? I't reminds me a lot of Odyssey in its construction, and much like with Cappy, I'm having a blast doing flips and using fludd to platform all over the dang place. And cleaning stuff up provides an Okami-like sense of Zen satisfaction for me. I cleaned up the goop and now a lighthouse reappeared! How nice! Good for them!

You think that's bad, try playing the DS version. Actually it has been a while since I played 64 so maybe the controls really don't hold up.But to be even more sacriligious, I've moved on to Mario Sunshine and…I'm enjoying myself a quite fair bit? Hell yeah man. Sunshine is awesome. People just rag on it I guess cause it's not as good as the other Mario games.
Well, that and the pachinko puzzle.
-
Try getting all blue coins and your feelings on Sunshine might change. Outside of that, I would agree it is a very solid game and was probably my favorite of the 3D marios until Odyssey came about.
That said I'm also the type of person who had a PS1 and then moved from that to Gamecube and skipped most early N64 games altogether. So for me Mario 64 has always been a pain and a half to revisit and I've never bothered completing it. Sunshine was my first real go at 3D Mario games, so even the painful moments are covered by nostalgia.
-
Mario 64 is generally praised by the community (especially speed runners) for having incredibly tight and responsive controls, and being fast-paced with the movement while remaining precise. More so in all these aspects than pretty much any other 3D Mario. That said I agree about the slope physics, but otherwise I think the actual experience and camera holds up super well. I had more issues with the camera in Sunshine lol. Sunshine is great though; people just rag on it for, well, probably what I said. It’s generally slower and less about precision platforming than FLUDD gimmicks.
-
I'm one of the few people who will openly admit to not liking Super Mario 64 I tried with the original and the 64 port and just couldn't really get all that much into it. Whereas Sunshine I can fucks with (don't know if it'll hold up especially after plowing through Odyssey).
-
New direct coming up within minutes. Hope there is something about BotW2
-
Super Smash final fighter news is coming October 5th.
New 3D Kirby game: Kirby and the Forgotten Land. I can already tell that we'll be getting it at my house. It's coming Spring 2022.
-
Holy shit a new Kirby game!
-
Animal Crossing direct coming next month. Looks like they're adding something called "the roost," a coffee shop. It's coming in November. I've been over Animal Crossing since last July, but I'm sure fans are going to be pretty happy since I've been eharing about the Roost for a while.
KOTOR is coming to the Switch!
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Nintendo Switch Online is getting a new Membership tier that comes with N64 games. Makes sense, but I'm not interested in any of the games.
edit: They have wireless N64 and Sega controllers for sale and other games are coming including Pokemon Snap and Majora's Mask, which makes it more attractive to me.holy shit! They have sega games too!! That's more attractive, lmao. I see Sonic, Eco, Streets of Rage. Pretty damn cool. They're calling it an Expansion Pack and it's coming in Late October.
An old game called Actraiser Renaissance is coming and it looks pretty cool. It's an HD remake of an old game.
-
playing Sin and Punishment for the first time. Wow love it
-
Mario movie voice cast is revealed by the GOAT and it's coming Holiday 2022
Chris Pratt is Mario
Jack Black is Bowser
Anya-Taylor Joy is Peach
Charlie Day is Luigi
Keegan-Michael Key is Toad
Seth Rogan is Donkey Kong -
I'm hype for Charlie Day to be Luigi in the new Mario movie.
-
the cast for the mario movie is so genius… and then they ruin it with garbage human being chris pratt playing mario
-
Bayonetta 3 trailer!!!
-
Well damn, no Pokemon or BOTW2. Oh well, ya win some and you lose some.
-
Nothing from MP4 or BotW2 but we got B3. I'm slightly ok with this.
-
Did I miss anything? What the heck did Chris Pratt done again?
-
Bayonetta 3 Hype!
Her new design will take some to get used to (maybe past design as DLC?). New gameplay looks interesting though I fear a little about the framerate issues that might cause on the quite old Switch.
-
Donkey Kong was the role Seth Rogan was born to play. Everything else has been a waste of time until now. I also wonder how high-pitched Keegan-Michael Key's Toad will be. Maybe…a lot?
I love that this list of actors is real. Amazing.
-
-
Kevin Michael Richardson is an awesome choice for any character. For Kamek, I'm picturing something between his Joker and Barney Rubble voices, seen from 1:09-1:30 here:
And they're actually putting Cranky Kong in there. My, was this song prophetic:
-
Well, a complete remake of Actraiser I was not expecting. Neat. THat's a must get.
The Actraiser-Soul Blazer-Actraiser 2-Terranigma set as a solid series of loosely connected games.
-
It looks like Bayonetta is fighting aliens in her new game
Or am I missing something
Seriously no one wants to talk about a new Bayonetta game and the first all 3D Kirby game?
I guess the Mario movie cast is pretty lit
-
Kirby looks awesome, never thought anticipating a Kirby game
Disco Elysium also looks like something worth checking out.
Nothing about Botw2 was okay, they showed it a few months ago, but no Silksong, c´mon that would have made it perfect for me ^^ -
Anyone hear about the NSO upgrade? That price tag is not looking appealing but it certainly seems like the reason they opted with the rental-style approach instead of continuing the Virtual Console style of being able to permanently own the games through purchase.
-
Are they ever going to make a Wario Land game for the Switch? They haven't made a good Wario Land game in ages
I always hoped they would make a Wario Ware Land game, A Wario Land type game but with the Wario Ware characters and locations and micro games to open the hidden chests, but I doubt it will ever happen
-
Don’t think so but I could always be wrong.

Some feedback on The Switch Online Expansion Pak…..looking pretty shaky.
-
Is Bayonetta fighting aliens in her new game or are those angels again?
-
Didn't you literally asked the same thing like 6 posts before?
-
My bad, I totally forgot
-
Good Direct, inject Xenoblade Chronicles 3 directly into my veins please
