In-universe, there is 10days left before entering "untamed waters". This is pretty much when Gon and Kilua will be back I guess. And by then, lots of people will have died. Which means that in our universe, the real world, we will get there in 2 or 4 hiatus (2years if optimistic)
Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
-

-
Alright, it's time to admit it: I'm bored and this arc is far too slow. Even without the hiatuses I would've forgotten who two thirds of the new people are by this point, and I can't even remember the names or ranks of most of the princes.

I can see why the editor cried when he has to edit THAT page.
A while back, there was this fanart "What if One piece was written by Togashi" which makes fun of the huge wall of text.
This chapter certainly prove the point of the fanart. I really don't understand how some people can look at it and actually love & praise that huge wall of text that took out like 80% of the page…
I'm not reading THAT page. lol
I officially despise any of the 1st prince bodyguards. They suck up way too many panel time, kill the pacing of the story, most of them are boring and love internal monologue too much.
Kurapika is one of my favourite character but he got the worst subplot in the succession war arc.
Everytime the bodyguard nen training plot start up, I completely lose my interest. It drags on for too long and ultimately all of the rando are going to drop dead like flies.
Though I kinda figure Kurapika was going to use his ability to 'baptise' them like Wing did for Gon & Killua.-snip-
What would make it greater if someone use this to create a huge wall of text in the same style as this chapter.
-
Ahahahahahahahahahaha.

Yea that page was awful.

Togashi is literally deconstructing what it is to be a manga.
Edit: Also, just so my post has some actual content, I think that it being revealed that you can seemingly easily get nen by being attacked by a nen user is really really stupid. Seems like it defeats the purpose of of some of the stuff earlier in the series and makes nen seem less useful in things outside of battle (or even in battle against non-nen users) since even just touching someone while using nen apparently counts as attacking them and can give nen ability to them.
We've known about this since chapter 48. Gon and Killua awakened their nen by the same method.

Tell me if the image is messed up or somethingThis is absolutely fantastic. You capture Togashi essence perfectly.
You just make maxtexdexter's post better .lol -
Yeah yeah a total failure and disservice of the medium.
Can we get it out of our system.
_But maybe if I keep the peace here something will click and make sense, like fixing a flower vase in a sinking ship, only to realize that the base is made of super floaty wood. Of course these kind of things don't happen on real life.
So maybe this wall of text will take the thread into a slatemate? I mean I'm trying very hard to write it in my phone, and it keeps slipping into Spanish and having to correct words on the fly, when the word count is the only thing that matters.I do wonder if they will read this, I mean I am not togashi, I only played one dragon quest and didn't finished it, not counting dragon quest monsters or some random old spinoff that might have slipped through my defenses.
Now, should I keep on writting, or should I let go to see if anyone else is writting.
But!!!? What if someone else had the same idea? What if I press post and there is another needesly wordy wall of text? Then will it have been for naught? Should I find scribble gon? Taking in more memes would dilute this one, but you can't go wrong with hyper realistic turkey. I mean I already talked about dragon quest, it is already a meme post.
Then again will someone ever read this? It doesn't actually matter as there are two scenarios
They skip over this, and it was all for nothing
Or they read it and start writting in excruciating detail about nothing, devolving into scenarios descriptions that won't have any impact on the discussion at hand. That leads me to. I'm running out of battery>_

Tell me if the image is messed up or somethingBeautiful and beautifuler. Can we vote for an ex-aequo Post of the Year?
Everything's been said already, but this was histerical. I mean, the chapter is so insanely wordy and, I'll be honest, I'm so not interested in the intricacies of what goes through Irrelevantguy1 and Irrelevantguy2's minds during a particularly boring detour (one of many in this arc) that will ultimately amount to nothing as they're blown to smithereens by Pervy Psycho guy or whatever that I didn't read any of that, but then I got to THAT page and I literally burst out laughing like a maniac. This is precious.
Please, someone track down That Editor
and ask him if this was the fabled Legendary Manga Chapter to End All Manga Chapters Forever and Ever. Please, please tell me this chapter was in fact the One to Change the Course of Comic Book History as we know it, please._

ok this needs a breakdown:
The point here is that Kurapika wants to stall the game, and he succeeds, but his enemies are extremely competent and watching his every move, just one misstep and he, bill and the baby are done for.
Ok, We get it. We got it a while ago actually. But now we get it by proxy,at a subconcious level at this point: whenever Kurapika hits the scene, the plot freezes and we feel all the frustration the evil bodyguards are feeling. This manga turned us all into some sort of Pavlov's dog, using a blondie bishonen instead of chimes that leave us longing and salivating for plot progression instead of food. This is a whole new level of experiencing manga. Frankly at this point who would care if it gets more and more likely, as weeks go by and we approach the 10 chapter mark, that any other subplot one could care more about won't get any progression before april?
We're making history here. This is what the editor was talking about-.Yeah the chapter was pretty terrible.
-
This is slowly becoming a meme.
-
Lmao. I love how all of Togashi's characters overblown internal dialogue makes them all seem like they're on the spectrum. Especially in these little spoofs.
-
Well I think the biggest thing we learned this chapter was the method by which Kurapika was unlocking Nen for everyone.
By using the dolphin, the possibility of someone not using the injected power is introduced, which in itself could be used as a threat or to kill Kurapika.
Another setup chapter, which admittedly slows down the pace, but I still think it's interesting.
Definitely not the worst chapter this arc, but a step down from the recent string of hits this 10-chapter run.
-
I guess it would have to be an emergency. Because knowing this detail of the ability it seems impossible

The whole arc is a setup arc, though. We have no prior reason to care about the succession war, and the hook that kicked off the arc (the revelation of the Dark Continent) has been entirely ignored since the beginning.
Ideally the princes and their conflict should stay in the background while the main story focuses on the Phantom Troupe and their conflicts with Hisoka and the hunters.
-
The arc prior to GreedIsland was also a setup arc but lots of boys loved it anyway.
And I personally care more about the succession arc than anything concerning the mobsters from the phantom troupe and Hisoka the weirdoOn the other hand, it's true that the stuff about the dark continent is being ignored but this isn't only a hunter expedition. Everything concerning those assassinations will pr0b4bly be relevant once we will reach the DC. I don't think that this is the Davy Back Fight of HxH. (or, is it ??)
-

Yorknew arc? That arc was set up at the end of the Zoldyck arc. The reason why the group decided to reunite in Yorknew on 1st September was because of what Hisoka told Kurapika regarding the spiders.
-
Oh yes, forgot about that. The Kurapika plotline, but there was also the plot about the greedisland game Gon was looking for right ?

In a bigger version of that image, you can see it was taken on a bus seat. Wonder what kind of a bus it was. Where was it going? What was going through the mind of the person who took that pic? Did anyone see them and notice what they were doing? Does the possibility of being discovered during a commute excite them?

You have to consider two scenarios, wether that bus was real or not.
Might be some weird living room or a training facility for bus drivers.
And even if it was a real bus, was it moving? Was it functional? All of these alternative scenarios lead to an answer that might surprise you, the bus was going nowhere!!!?!

This was much better than the last few chapters in my opinion. For as much text as there was it was at least interesting. We got more info about postmortem nen and the whole thing about curse nen was great. And Camilla having an entire group of curse specialists who are assigned to each prince was really nice. I'm still kind of confused about if you actually need to kill yourself to activate a curse though, since at times when they were talking about it, it seemed like they could do it without killing themselves. I'm not even bothering remembering most characters' names though. I had a similar issue with LotGH where tons of names characters were being introduced but just like that series, if a character does enough to deserve being remembered, I'll remember their name. No point in remembering the names of fodder that will never do anything.

They have to. One of the ability condition is that they have to killed themselves in front of their target to activate the curse to kill the prince.
In a way, they are serving the intended role of a 'companion' to accompany the dead prince on the journey to the afterlife. -
He is fucking with shueisha and his editor right now. I hope that this volume sells as well as it should.
I've gotta admit, it's kinda cool. He's one of the very few mangaka who has his publisher by the balls, to a hilarious extent. Want me to work myself to death? Nah screw you, 10 chapters a year (usually). Want me to include the main characters to make the series more reader-friendly? Nah screw you, we'll have only one and and an overload of obscure-looking characters. Want me to always put 100% into drawing? Screw that, I'm already rich, what my pen puts down on that paper is what you get, take it or leave it.
It's him being super lazy or holding a grudge against SJ or both, but man, that's the life. If I could work like this, sign me up.
While he seems to have barely any respect for SJ, he does at least respect his readers' intelligence. It's not even debatable that HxH is dangerously verbose for a manga, but his manga as about as non-simple as you can get with no hand-holding, and I like that. All that said it's still way too much in recent chapters.
-
Ask and ye shall receive:
I'd thank you but I have mixed feelings.
Well that took good 15 minutes to power through. This is what I felt like after a couple of pages:
!
It feels silly reading how those guys are trying to wrap their minds around the puzzle that is Halkenburg's ability and Shikaku's death, when you as a reader know exactly what happened. It's also a little silly how we don't see any action, but it's conveyed to us through a fucking radio station. Granted, we've seen how Halkenburg's ability works, so I can give it a pass. Even though drawing Benjamin and his #1 standing still with some text is easier than drawing an action scene.
Idk, I appreciate how Togashi can take so many things into consideration without hitting more plot hole check boxes, but it's just too convulted and random. There's no flow. Just when you think things are going to get simpler and will start to move faster it gets more and more convulted and complicated.
-
sigh I hope this gets the sales it deserves…
Looking back, I think the last time I liked anything about Texty x Wordy was the Hisoka vs Spiders battles. I remember them as having a decent flow, or at least there was enough action to skip the text and still understand what was going on. With chapters like today's there's barely anything left to look at when you skip the text, most panels are just shots of some guy's face or a couple dudes standing still, or more people strolling down corridors. I honestly have no idea what I just read, or why I am still trying at all.
-
Love this arc. Absolutely everyone is playing 4-dimensional chess! lol.
Seems like something is going to give within the next few chapters and either Benjamin, Camilla or Halkenburg are going to bite the dust.
-
This series is a fucking comedy at this point. The mangaka refuses to actually do his job and is just jerking around his editor and fanbase without a care in the world and that's where the true entertainment is. The most hilarious part is the people who think this word salad is part of a masterfully crafted plot and not a bunch of inane nonsense Togashi pulls out his ass week after week.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
sigh I hope this gets the sales it deserves…
The volume will sell gangbusters because the Japanese fanbase is absurdly loyal and have deluded themselves that they're reading high art that only they can understand.
-
Glad Galsses-kun got a name, and oh boy those Benjamin's guards sure monologue a lot. A. LOT.

I guess it's easier to read in japanese, I think?

Also, not handholding? While explaining Nen to stupid details, again, and having the characters analize abilities that we the audience already know how they work for pages? That is not respect, that is stalling, page filling.
