Any word on the new anime getting licensed for an English dub any time soon?
Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes

Kurapika is surprisingly doing a good job. I wonder why didn't he use the downing chain to detect the mole in the Zodiac?
It's possible he already knows who it is, which is why he mentioned it in the first place. If he heard from some outside source that it's Mizaistom, and Kurapika wanted to confirm that, then the Ox basically telling him to keep quiet about it is pretty incriminating.
-
Togashi really seems to be throwing in every possible subplot he can think of to make this more complex. Now we've got a traitor to watch out for? Mizaistom's desire to keep Kurpika's suspicions between the two of them makes him seem a bit shady, but it could also just be for the sake of keeping the team cohesive.
Either way, Togashi has just given us yet another reason to go over every line of dialogue with a fine-toothed comb. As if we weren't doing so already!
Also, Pariston for main arc villain over Beyond? Ging certainly seems more concerned with him than he is with Beyond.
The 'Ain't nobody got time for that' guy will dispose of Ging and Pariston like the Meruem disposed of Peggy and Turtle, then they will all follow him into the Dark Continent.
-
I don't consider Beyond a villain. And Pariston's getting really nasty…
Finally Togashi explains why Kurapica became a Zodiac.

I guess keeping quiet about who the mole is make sense.
I think Mizai is a red herring. Him pulling kurapika away and asking him to keep quiet is definitely suspicious. But the culprit is the usually the one you never expected. On the side note, those random fodders at the end really want to die.

GOD DANG IT I LOVE HUNTER X HUNTER!!!! The agony of knowing I'm a week closer to a three year hiatus is the only thing that keeps me from complete peace of mind.
-
For the mole, I'm guessing it's either monkey or horse. Long shot rabbit.

Hopefully it's not cow. He's one of the few truly bright spots in the Zodiacs (I hate Cheadle) given his competence, integrity and sense of justice (or so it seems).
If it turns out to be him it'll be unexpected, sure, but in a bad way.
Edit: We've also read cow monologue about how he wants to stop Pariston.
-

I know, right? I loved him and monkey since their first appearance but while monkey kept a low profile so far, cow's gone places, has done stuff. He's been shaped a little more, along with dog, Pariston and tiger, imho.
I think among the Zodiacs the chicks are the most bland so far. -
cheadle is the mole.
-
Watching 137, we've actually read Horse's thoughts during the elections. He was thinking how to put Pariston at a disadvantage. Weakens the possibility that he's a mole, but still can't be entirely ruled-out.
The enigmas are monkey, rooster, rabbit and maybe dragon. Come think of it, we haven't seen Dragon's thought process yet (or maybe I just don't remember), which is odd considering he's one of the most important zodiacs.
-
I think the mole is Geru because knowing Netero her "assets" could have blinded him
-
Something to consider, and sorry if already posted…
The one guarding Beyond, and who volunteered to do so: Saccho Kobayakawa
-
^ The Kobayakawa link does make Saccho very suspicious, also when he got knocked out of the election he said that he was going to support the association from the shadows and was rooting for someone to win but wouldn't say who, so it doesn't really look like he's definitely on team Cheadle.
!
-
Not wanting to be mean but a lot of people noticed that.
So, Mario is part of HunterXHunter canon now?As well as judas and jesus, apparenty. That part always bugged me.
-
I thought it was way more weird that Kant, Hegel, Higgs, etc were part of the canon.
Mario compared to that isn't that weird anymore. -
I find it weird that out of all the infinite possible alternate universes, this one by chance has human beings as a dominant sentient species that speaks in perfect Japanese.
-

That is pretty sketchy, almost a bit too sketchy. Like Togashi would end up going "Just because he shares his name with a traitor from hundreds of years ago, that makes him suspicious?"
I think it's also good to point out that traitor does not equal evil in this case. Most of the members of Beyond's group seem just as quirky and mellow as the Zodiacs, and there's really no indication that any of these people are downright villainous outside of Pariston. With this in mind, even the morally upstanding Zodiacs are still likely candidates for the traitor.

Despite his horse face, he also gives off some vibes of being pretty powerfull. Or maybe its just because of the swords and the calm demeanor.
Also, can we add a poll to the thread, who will be the traitor?
-
"Which one of these animals is actually a mole?"
-
I can't decide, so I'm going to vote there is no traitor(for now, since I think this is currently speculation on kurapika, cow, and Cheadle's part, and no signs of a traitor have come up yet.
-
I don´t really like this mole stuff.
Reminds me when the same thing was done with Toriko. "Which of these underdeveloped characters whose name you barely remember is actually a traitor?"
Do we really care?Anyway:
Tiger: Nope. Togashi is too good to pull the "AHAH, this character that sounded too dumb is actually an eveil genious mastermind that could fool the world´s smartest hunters!".
Sheep: It was actually the first name that poped in my head. The kind fat clutz is a decent choice for this kind of moments.
Chicken: Not developed enough. I don´t think anyone would care if she was it.
Dragon: Maybe he pulls a cliché "I want everything to return to it´s roots and only Beyond can do it"…
Cow: Please, no  and please don´t die
Dog: Na, she kind of represents the association in the middle of this. She´s Jesus, not Judas.
Rabbit: She seems supicious for some reason.
Horse: His thoughts during the votation make me think he isn´t. Seems like a decent character.
Monkey: Maybe the strongest possibility. He had some moments, but we don´t really know that much about him. He wanted to go to the DC, but without interfering with Netero´s expedition. Seems like a guy with thirst for adventure that could identify himself with Netero.
Snake: Boobs are real, always trust the boobs. So Dragon, Rabbit, Monkey and Sheep?
-
I was sure that there was a traitor within the zodiac, I don't know why I thought about this, generally when there is an influential group there is probably a traitor.
And I like it.For me the only two I can see right now are
Batobai : Despite being a 3 stars hunter he didn't show anything, It's like he does not exist in the zodiac at all, First time I saw the zodiac I remembered them all beside the dragon, he seemed to me like a fodder.
But after his introduction in this chapter I hope he is not the traitor, I always loved tactician specialized in defense character…
Snake : Yes this woman is until proven otherwise the traitor.Reading past posts I can include the horse dude he seems suspicious.
PS : the cow being a mole would be totally unexpected and awesome, but I don't think it's probable.
Anyway as long as the tiger (my favorite) is not the mole I'm happy.
PS 2 : It would be awesome if there was a vote. -
I don't want Mizaistom to be the traitor, but only because I like him. With my luck though… sigh Actually, I would take a guess at it being Piyon only basing that the stereotypical "bunny girl" tends to be super-perky and such. She's already been shown to be good with technology though, so she's not a ditz, but that image would help with getting away with a lot comparatively.
-
Snake…snake.....ssssss......ssssnake....will always b associated with being a traitor
-
I think it's Snake too but I really wouldn't care who it was it's not like the zodiac's have really done anything for me to be attached to any of them expect the obvious 2 and Pariston I love that wierd bastard, but the rest can be killed on the journey for all I care.
-
It will turn out that both Kurapika and Leorio are the moles and that they have actually been playing the long con with Beyond
-
While reading this chapter, it really hit me how much I don't like Ging.
-
Ging is Mary Suing pretty hard. The dude just happens to be the best at everything.
Except fatherhood.
Actually, though, if you consider that Gon turned out pretty alright (minus the occasional sociopathic tendencies), you could even say that Ging is the best at parenting. He's so good at it that he abandoned his child and the child still ended up fine.
-
Idk I attribute most of that to Mito and the granny. Although Ging did inspire Gon in a really huge, life changing way, so there's that.
-

And then technically you could attribute that to Kite.
On the other hand, Ging built an entire video game just for his son.

This is what makes me afraid that Togashi is going to kill him off, or have him suffer a horrible fate.
–------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: Sidenote - So when are the Zoldycks gonna deal with Hisoka, Illumi has to know that Killua is on his menu, and we know the Zoldycks aren't above ganging up on someone.
-
Guys, your missing the point. It's not that Ging is a bad father, it's that he's not a father at all (biologically-speaking aside). Can't judge him for something he's never done.
And before you get on my case, Gon already pretty much acknowledged as much.
-

The French existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre was sitting at a café table working.
A waiter approached him. "Can I get you something to drink, Monsieur Sartre?" he asked.
"Yes, I’d like a cup of coffee with sugar, but no cream", the philosopher replied.
A few minutes later, however, the water returned and said, "I’m sorry, Monsieur Sartre, we are all out of cream — how about with no milk?"
-
There is no mole, just a Zodiac already dead and someone Brutally powerful impersonating him. That or it is that green bean guy whose name i never seem to recall.
-

His name is Beans.
-
His name is Beans.
My mind is not ready to deal with that kind of meta name. Thanks for answering my doubt, tho.
-
Ging having multiple talents/skills is fine considering the Zodiac themselves have multiple skills. But being number 1 at everything he does to the point of demoralizing everyone else is simply obnoxious. Also, being condescending about his talents irk me.
But considering he's supposed to be an unlikeable jerk, I guess hating him make sense.
I'm pretty sure he's going to get killed when they entered DC.Regarding the mole, I wouldn't be surprised if Togashi never bring it up again.
-
my theory for the mole is that Togashi will keep laying subtle hints that its milk tank….. i mean cow, but it will end up being monkey, why monkey you ask? well maybe Beyonds a banana hunter, and has promised monkey all the bananas he can eat, or you know, a hunch or something.
I hope it doesn't end up being Cheadle, that would be stupid, plus she seems to have the loyalty that matches her motif, plus max would be devastated. Snake, eh, a traitorous snake, its a bit of an over done cliche, hell even the bible did it. Cow i also think would be to obvious a pick, since I immediately fell to that conclusion, I'm hoping Togashi will be more subversive than that. -

And the bolded text is amusing to me. -

Darth, is that you?
I do agree though, it's a little bit infuriating at times. But somehow I still like him quite a lot.
As for who the mole is, I'd hazard a guess and say Dragon. Just screams suspicious to me.
-
Sorry guys, you are wrong. The mole is me.
Ging is supposed to be a level 99 hunter, I'm ok with him being the way he is.
-
No, I am the third strongest mole!
Anyway I think I'm fine with Ging being good at everything as it stands. He's a guy who has the qualifications to be a triple star hunter and has been preparing for years presumably to enter the dark continent, so he's gotta have at least a few tricks up his sleeve. Right now, he needs to demonstrate his capacity in that form and show his value. It can get stale later on, but for now it's fine.
-
Ging is a lot more book smart than I thought, but otherwise everything he has shown so far was not a suprise.
I've mentioned this before but Ging's match isn't in the "inside". There's a good chance that they'll meet humans on the Outside and I think that's where he'll find someone who'll give him a run for his money. Ging will also serve as an additional plot armor for the DC crew since there's no way the expedition will be defeated that easily under his watch (Beyond himself and the expertise of the rest of team notwithstanding).
That being said I still feel he's going to die and Pariston will have a hand in it.
-
Ging has been built up for years as this top of the line badass Hunter mofo, so that's expected. It balances itself out by him also being a gigantic selfish assfuck, which other characters even acknowledge. Leorio nearly got elected for President just by publicly punching him in the mug.
-
Despite ging being a shitty father, I have to say I like him much more then the meh gon. He is a way more enjoyable character to follow.
-
Lol what if Beyond was a dog biscuit hunter instead of bananas? hmm..
And the bolded text is amusing to me.Ah but cheadles loyalty can't be bought so easily, now maybe if he threw in a tennis ball.

I don't know to what extend do the 12 HxH Zodiacs stick to the personalities related in real life to the 12 Chinese zodiac signs, because if the link was that strong we could use this as a clue as to who may or may not be the mole.
*** * ***
Here are the personality traits according the the Chinese astrology:
Rat - Ambitious, intelligent, persuasive, sociable, charming, god like, charismatic, shrewd, industrious, meticulous, tenacious, artistic, eloquent but also Vindictive, manipulative, selfish, cunning, self-destructive, exploitative, scheming, arrogant, amoral, jealous, suspicious, ruthless, critical, venal, envious, greedy
Snake - Intellectual, quick-witted, passionate and sometimes feared. Females are noted for their brains and beauty. Snake-types are also adept at giving the impression they know far more about a subject than they intend to divulge, and while a strict sense of propriety prevents them from telling lies, they are not averse to double-dealing when it suits them. Their ability to gather up information suggests an aptitude for research, detection or academia, all areas that should satisfy their analytical brain. They regarded as intelligent, but with a tendency to be somewhat unscrupulous.
Horse - very active, tireless in racing towards their own goals on their own timelines, possessed of mental thought processes characterized by lightning-quick speed to the point of faultiness, multitaskers, self-confident, ambitious, fond of exercise, liable to physical and mental exhaustion, side-steppers of issues and others' concerns, and temperamentally impatient to the point of explosiveness.
Ox - Gentle, peace loving, possesses great physical strength that makes it dangerous if angered. Conservative, independent, trusting and accepts others for what they are. They may be unromantic, but there is no lack of affection for a few select friends. In business, they often bring prosperity - not through entrepreneurial imagination and risk, but as a result of logical thought, resolute practicality and honest endurance.
Tiger - Strong, noble, aggressive, independent and courageous. Also tends to be selfish and short tempered. Tiger characteristics are considered unfeminine. Aggressive business will bring more favorable returns. Tigers are likely to succeed in sales, personnel management and uniformed careers.
Rabbit - Uncomplicated, affectionate, attractive to the opposite sex, talented and ambitious. Realistic about its characteristics it leaves leadership roles to the stronger. Traditionally associated with clear-sightedness and is an excellent judge of character, with an instinct for recognizing sincerity in others and an almost uncanny ability for sensing falsehood. In personal relationships, even the most innocent deceptions will be identified almost at the moment they are perpetrated.
Dragon - Powerful, gifted, full of vitality, possesses outstanding leadership capabilities, quick-tempered, prone to worry, and is perhaps too fastidious. Strong and decisively resolute in a determination to follow interesting tracks which may lead nowhere. Dragons could become wealthy were it not for the fact that spectacular gains are as often as not offset by money wasted elsewhere.
Horse - The Horse loves life, has plenty of sex appeal, charming, smart, popular and moody. On the serious side, they are hardworking, tenacious, and loyal. Horse-types are good talkers, never short of conversation, though less quick with ready ideas. The latest news is always a good opening gambit, and the Horse is always keen to hear other peoples' opinions. Deep-seated prejudices however are hard to dislodge. Love of social contact remains the most important force in the Horse's life, and whatever career is chosen, ideally it will involve close liaison with others.
Goat/Sheep - The Goat (Sheep) with its strong forehead and horns represents strength and fortitude. It is confident, persevering, and protective of the weak. Non-judgmental of others, it is comfortable to be with the Goat and its cousin, the sheep. Their nature is best seen in its artistic talent. They can also be a touch too fastidious, which in many respects explains why their creative natures are not normally fully explored. The Goat may be involved, either professionally or voluntarily, in social work of some description, while a sensitivity for the arts may well lead to a career in music or a craft.
Monkey - The Monkey is intelligent with a sense of humor, original thinker, practical, carries out plans successfully, curious, observant, friendly and introvert. In general, they are extremely versatile and can do well at almost anything. Success however can easily go to their head, bringing out a latent arrogance that often alienates friends. But it is rarely long before the Monkey's agreeable humor and other engaging sociable qualities win them back. Older and wiser Monkeys are able to channel their energetic and fertile imaginations into the solving of extremely complex problems.
Rooster - The Rooster carries out the assignments conscientiously and when faced with an adversary it fights boldly. Always busy, seemingly self-centered, sensitive and attentive to its friends. The Rooster is alert, joining a fundamental punctiliousness with precise attention to detail. The problems arrive when so many projects are taken on that, inevitably, the less troublesome get lost in the sheer volume. In business and personal relationships the quieter more reserved members of the Rooster's social circle or family may be neglected or forgotten.
Dog - Loyal, trusted, compassionate, protector and is always ready to give aid. Intensely defensive where friends and family are concerned, they will not stand by while others are maligned, but sometimes a refusal to listen to warnings regarding the behavior of children or other loved ones can lead to severe domestic problems. They have a sympathetic ear for other people's woes and are always ready with a shoulder to cry on. Rare displays of violent anger are almost always justified, but wrongs are quickly forgotten, and resentment only borne against those outside the intimate circle of family and friends.
Pig - They are courageous, independent, quick-tempered, do not like to compromise, loners and have few friends that will keep for life. They possess great inner strength and fortitude. In business, they are the finishers who put the last necessary touches to a project, and in this respect they may become extremely successful financially. On the debit side, they are naive and trusting, falling easy prey to the confidence trickster. For a career, caring professions such as nursing or counseling. Otherwise the Pig's genuine concern for others will become apparent through voluntary work and being a good neighbor.
These signs can be divided into 4 trines:
The first trine consists of the Rat, Dragon and Monkey. These three signs are said to be intense and powerful individuals capable of great good, who make great leaders but are rather unpredictable. The three are said to be intelligent, magnanimous, charismatic, charming, authoritative, confident, eloquent and artistic, but can be manipulative, jealous, selfish, aggressive, vindictive or deceitful.
The second trine consists of the Ox, Snake and Rooster. These three signs are said to possess endurance and application, with slow accumulation of energy, meticulous at planning but tending to hold fixed opinions. The three are said to be hard-working, modest, industrious, loyal, philosophical, patient, good-hearted and morally upright, but can also be self-righteous, egotistical, vain, judgmental, narrow-minded or petty.
The third trine consists of the Tiger, Horse and Dog. These three signs are said to seek true love, to pursue humanitarian causes, to be idealistic and independent but tending to be impulsive. The three are said to be productive, enthusiastic, independent, engaging, dynamic, honourable, loyal and protective, but can also be rash, rebellious, quarrelsome, anxious, disagreeable or stubborn.
The fourth trine consists of the Rabbit, Goat and Pig. These three signs are said to have a calm nature and an intellectual approach; they seek aesthetic beauty and are artistic, well-mannered and compassionate, yet detached and resigned to their condition. The three are said to be caring, self-sacrificing, obliging, sensible, creative, empathetic, tactful and prudent, but can also be naïve, pedantic, insecure, cunning, indecisive or pessimistic.

So, as you can see, some of these do fit (Rat, Tiger, Dog) but others don't (Pig, Horse, Dragon). I guess if Togashi wanted to base the 12 on the real zodiac signs he would have to stick to at least some of these traits, the most accepted ones.
Monkey is always the one depicted as one with an uneven temper. If I were to point my finger at a possible mole, I'd chose him.
