Can someone remind we why Kurapica is determined to merely make it to the next dinner party?
He may have a chance to touch or at least get near Tserriednich or open a line of communication with Halkenburg who is 'close' with Tserriednich.
-
If Tserriednich knew about nen before, he would have asked his bodyguards if they have it during the audition. He wouldn't do the whole investigation thing once in the ship…
-

The eyes of his people.

Why didn't he do that on the first dinner party?
-
"I'll give you info on such and such rooms, and their nen beast, might not include the 4th prince."
"Just give me five years."
"?"
"Five years of your life."
"Sure."
At least Hunters live long lives, he could probably lose 40 years and still live to be an old man.
-
Why didn't he do that on the first dinner party?
Because it's extradinarily difficult for even one of the queens to get near a higher ranked prince, let alone a lowly bodyguard like Kurapika. There wasn't an opportunity during the first banquet. That's what Kurapika's goal is though, to get close enough to touch Tserriednich and the ideal opportunity to do so is at the weekly banquets that all princes must attend since Princes are unlikely to leave the quarters during the week and I doubt Tserriednich will just invite Kurapika over.

I think this is an exampe of why the current art - for the lack of a better word - feels "straining" to me. There are so many objectives and considerations that you lose the feeling for what is important for whom and why because things are just mentioned and not accentuated according to their significance as there is no time to do so.
-
It's really hard to get a sense that kurapika is actually risking anything by using his power for so long because manga characters don't generally die of old age.All this lifespan stuff does imo is make it a "time-limit" based ability but with a soft time limit instead.
Hunter x Hunter probably won't follow Kurapika as far as his late days, but at least it serves as a source of tension for the character and forces him to regulate his powers.

Togashis "spend 90% of the drawing work on random objects" habit is going ham this chapter. If you're talking about the first page, that's assistants doing that. Pretty much any shot of the whale boat and water (or any solid background) is 100% assistants. You can tell from the difference in inking style, line weight, and use of ziptone.
Maybe the closeups of the roach also.

Looks like we're going back into hiatus territory.
-
Looks like i'm not going to be able to frequently post in this thread, for real.
It is confirmed that at Issue #40, Togashi goes to rest again. A pity, this season was awesome xD
-
I'm glad that Togashi says that he will come back again in 2017 according to author's comment next Jump.
-
Sigh well it was a good run. I liked all the chapters. Now we'll have to wait another year/

Agreed. It lacks some Leorio though.
-
Who wants to bet he will not come back 2017
-
! I'm just saddened we get nothing super important/cliffhanger-y before the hiatus. Just more of the same.
-
As usual, he came back to deliver 1 volume and pay his bills for the year.
At least the quality was still there –-except the middle-finger he gave us during the cockroach chapter...
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
We have still a chapter to discuss, so I guess the thread will be locked in 5 to 7days.
-
lol.
Just lol.
At least this puts an end to the back pain myth. Since after all, he was cured this time around and was truly honestly going to go for as long as he could.
Which conveniently is exactly one volume.
-
To think we didn't even get one awesome fight scene

This post is deleted!

How many awesome fight did we get in 370chapters ? Not many.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Reminding everyone that the last DragonQuest was released last month ---->>>> July 29th.
The 4 chapters we got in August were probably already done in July.
-
Well at least he said he will be back later this year. That's something right?

Huh, I was under the impression than bro-beard was the owner of.the doll. Then it wasn't any of the first princes guards?
-
I have no idea at all what just happened. Seems very trivial though
-
So bro-beard is not the owner of the doll, and the effect is very similar to what happen to Woody. So who is the actual culprit ?

Gonna say bill.
Let's break down the doll, the condition is that is invisible, even to nen users, but not to a target who can see it, that is a heavy condition. Did they see the snakes? I'd say conjuration.
-
I thought it was the guy who raised his hand, drawing attention to the doll.
-
-
I believe this might be Babimyna.
The one using the doll is probably a conjurer and according to Hisoka's observations on nen conjurers are typically high-strung or overly serious and stoic. They are often on guard as to be cautious. They are very observant and logical, rarely falling into traps. Being able to analyze things calmly is the strength of Conjurers. Many of the items that conjurers create are often used by them in a very deliberate and practical, logical fashion.
Which fits what we know of Babimyna. Also, it can explain why he removed his en–- because it demands a lot of energy to maintain it and I guess the doll requires a lot of hatsu/stamina/whatever too.
And I don't think it's the same doll/clone that killed Momoze.
-
No, but this is the doll that drains blood, so the first few murders were because it. So would that guy (the other 1st prince bodyguard?) kill all of Wobble's bodyguards?
-
Yes it's true, I was just about to edit my post.
Whoever it is, it seems he is aiming the children.
-
Remember the theory that we had before is that it was Wobble's nen beast itself because they were the other queen's bodyguards, it could be someone using Wobble as a lure for the high ranking princes' guards.

I only read the first few chapters, but for all that wait, were any of these chapters good? Entertaining?

Not really, no. 16 Char.

I have been super bored with this arc so far. I'm not even fully reading all the dialogue anymore lol.

They spent a chapter discussing the fact that they needed a small animal like a hamster.
Then they spent a chapter chasing a cockroach.
Then they spent a chapter using it only to find out it was useless. -
And it costed (ehm how can I have lived all these years and haven't used past tense cost? Conjugate it yourselves)
- like 5 years for kurapika
2 years for togasi
1 year for us, each.
- like 5 years for kurapika

I feel like commenting on the break but we've been there countless times before and it's just not worth it. Till next year, Togashi.
-

Then they spent a chapter using it only to find out it was useless. You clearly don't see the brilliance of the latest batch of chapters.
Joking aside. Since there was almost nothing noteworthy happening this time (just like every time), I hope the hiatus ends sooner rather than later. (just like every time)
Even though I dislike beating a dead horse, with just few chapters coming out every year I wonder if Togashi will live long enough to end the manga, especially considering the fact that he's handling a huge arc with the scale of One Piece in terms of the number of the characters.
I didn't revisit the older chapters, so excuse me if I forget anyone, but here is a list with individuals and Parties involved in the current arc:
-Kurapika
-14 Princes and their bodygaurds
-Leorio and the rest of the Zodiac
-Hisoka
-The Spider
-Ging
-Pariston and the temporary hunters
-Beyond Netero
-And let's not forget the posibility of Gon or Killua joining the scene laterI'm kinda worried about the idea that Togashi might end Hunter x Hunter abruptly, and sadly with every hiatus it looks more and more probable.

Then they spent a chapter using it only to find out it was useless.Wow. None of that sounded in the least bit riveting. I really hope there's some payoff somewhere. But of course as always, that pesky hiatus is here.
Togashi is truly the king of trolls.

At the pace the series has been advancing, it seems increasingly better to have just finished the series with Gon meeting Ging and leaving the ending open for a future sequel, if Jump wanted it (very likely) and Togashi felt like actually doing it. Now it just seems like the series will keep going at a volume per year pace and then slowly fade away from the spotlight until something or someone forcefully puts and end to it. A good chance to end it (or part of it) was wasted back then. Honestly, ever since the current dark continent thingy started with Beyond, I've been having a really hard time remembering what the hell is even supposed to be going on. I stopped considering this cannon, for me. At least until we have actual developments beyond strategising about cockroaches, Hunter x Hunter ended with the Gon & Ging meeting.

I'm enjoying the new chapters (even though nothing's really going on), but the inevitable hiatuses are what's really killing us. It's like if HBO released only one episode of Game of Thrones per year.

The difference is that a lot happens in those one episodes. We've been moving at a glacial pace for quite a bit now.

Unlike in GoT, where the only thing that's been "glacial" is the weather. Everything else seems to be a fiery dragon themed rollercoaster that mostly goes faster than fast, and sometimes magically teleports people and boats without rhyme or reason, with an extra dash of forced romance whenever it stops for a breather.

I was thinking about one of the older episodes, where they'd do nothing but talk for an hour. One of those equals this entire "season" of HXH chapters.
