Time to pretend that HxH has ended years ago and simply forget it completely and let it fall completely to subconcious of our minds. Then and only then when new chapters will be announced after months, years or even decades we can be mildly surprised positively and enjoy those few handful chapters before next hiatus.
This is the only way you can deal with HxH and Berserk release rate and still be invested in series.

And this was just after another slight art shift with his set of chapters in 2014 which were more detailed in a lot of ways than ever before.

2 years ago editors hinted at "shocking moment" incomming - possibly meaning that Hisoka vs Chr fight. So I guess he had bunch of arena chapters almost ready 2 years ago. So he polished them and drawn few more. Newest chapters are probably less detailed because those were recently drawn and Togashi didnt put "second effort" into them, thats my guess.
All in all bunch of chapters we got was pretty good and we should not waste our energy on complaining, it changes nothing really so why to bother. We should be thankful for anything we get on HxH even as rare as we get anything.

I agree with you on that. When I saw Chrollo and Hisoka's faces in the first of the new chapters, I thought exactly the same. Maybe he's kinda loosing his touch with all of this hiatuses?

No, if they knew it was going to be a short period they'd announce in advance "taking a break for X weeks", the way they did when OP, Naruto and Bleach took months off along the way.
If they're just announcing hiatus, they have no idea when he'll be ready again.

He had assistants doing the majority of the work for the last 20 chapters. Backgrounds, background characters, and probably a chunk of the inking even on the main characters. The first four pages of the last chapter were entirely assistant work, for instance.
That the art was getting scratchier and messier in spots last week was probably a sign of the break to come.

Would have made a lot more sense to go on Hiatus after the Chrollo/Hisoka fight, rather than 2 chapters into the boat arc.

This is my first Hiatus end since actually getting caught up with the series…. so I'm gonna get in on the vote and say we'll make it to 8 chapters before the next Hiatus.

Martin is writing at a perfectly fine pace. Those crazy 1,200 page super dense giant cast huge world million plot thread fantasy novels take the time they take. Tolkien took 17 years to write Lord of the Rings.
It's pretty normal for comparable novels to take 4 or 5 years to write. The Kingkiller Chronicles is on a similar schedule where its been five years since the last book. Wheel of Time started out as an annual release and then as it got more complicated started to take three years per book, and the last one took nearly 8 and had to be broken up to lessen the wait time. The Sword of Shannara series initially took 19 years for the first three books. (though once he started cutting his page count in half and designing every story as a trilogy, he started to manage them pretty regularly, about three books every six years, but only doing the equivilent of one big book). It took James Clavell 9 years to write Shogun. And even the fastest man in the fantasy novel game Brandon Sanderson takes 3 or 4 years to do his BIG novels… though he does get smaller books out in the meantime.
Martin is just given so much crap because the series got so big and so popular that everyone knows about it and is impatient now due to the HBO show catching up and then getting ahead. And because once his years of work comes out, people sit down and devour it in a couple days and then its over. But his pace is perfectly acceptable and industry standard for the level of work that he does.
Togashi meanwhile can't keep any modicum of a pace with whats acceptable in his industry.

Can't say I'm surprised, doesn't it make things any less shitty though. I would honestly sacrifice Togashi penning any of the panels if it meant the series would just run consistently. Hand your assistants a script and some scribbled panels each week and let them take over please.
