Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes

While waiting…
-
I don't think he owes anyone an explanation why he is on Hiatus, especially if it something as personal as health. And I'm also not saying he should throw off his health and continue working.
But this does not change the fact that I am pissed that he seems not able to meet any kind of schedule in releasing HxH. I am supposed to believe that he has health problems? Ok, I believe it but what I don't believe is why no one who is in charge doesn't adapt to it. Why don't they just turn it into a monthly series? Or just end it giving him time to continue the story and releasing it afterwards. I don't know because I never really cared how things at WSJ worked but you can't tell ne there are no solutions for stuff like this.
For what I see the WSJ guys are being hypocrite because they don't seem to be interested at all into adapting to his health.
But what do I know I'm just a dumbass selfish fan. Or just a douchebag, right Robby?
-
He has a serious explanation and reason for his health problems this time and you guys still joke about it and complain he's not coming out with any issues when he has a serious reason for it now.
The man and his wife are rich he doesn't write HxH because he has to at this point especially because he has provided a good stopping point it continues because he wants to finish a story he himself has gotten invested in completing. I get upset as much as you guys do and the 2 year break was awfully annoying and I know you guys are still bitter about it but when we get a legit reason why he's on break you shouldn't get as angry about it.
Is it really hard to find something else to take up your time during the wait? I've been rereading the original Dragon Ball Series, Nisekoi, and watching The Simpsons Marathon (Like 3 episodes a day though) to pass the time. Can't you guys find another thing to get into while you wait? Its an amazing series but not the only one that's good that exists.
-
Regardless of how good your point may be, I would have trouble taking you seriously if those three series are the examples you would choose. Though I suspect you probably meant you were just watching those at the moment and it's completely unrelated to your point.

Yeah I could have probably provided better series examples but I just gave three I was into right now. It doesn't have to be another TV Series or Manga that takes your interest though. Video Games are another good one in hindsight or even more importantly work and study (work and study are the real reason I've only had time for 3 Simpsons a day to be honest). There's just so much more to life and to do other than complaining about a manga being on break because the writer has legitamite back problems though.

Lol, where did I say I may be pissed because I have nothing else to do? It's not about “herp derp, dunno what to do“ it's just about how the story, the readers and about how the mangaka are treated. That's what makes me nuts. Not Togashi health.
-
Or just read some Molester Man instead.
-
Or just read anything by YOKO instead
-
And stuff by ONE!
And something from FKMT for good measure!
-
There's "Togashi will be taking an extended break for health reasons"
and then there's
"Togashi will be taking an extended break."
(to play video games…?)
We don't need details or proof or anything. Don't need to be told mental health or physical condition or anything. Just two words of courtesy. Makes all the difference in the world and keeps us from blindly guessing at happenstance for two years at a time. And this time, for this short break, we've gotten it.
For what I see the WSJ guys are being hypocrite because they don't seem to be interested at all into adapting to his health.
They've got him using assistants now and taking scheduled breaks rather than a marathon. What more do you want?
But what do I know I'm just a dumbass selfish fan. Or just a douchebag, right Robby?
"Beng a douchebag" is a default infraction actually, not a unique insult crafted towards an individual.
But the more you keep pressing the point, after being given explanation, the more that's apparent, yes.

U know what, I would like seeing Kubo help Togashi with HxH once Bleach is done(rumored to be in 2015), Kubo does the drawings while Togashi does the script. The perfect combo.
-
16 characters of Please no
-
Then there wouldn't be any backgrounds…
-
That is in no way the perfect combo. Keep Kubo far away from HxH.
-
Or just read some Molester Man instead.
Man, that manga was the shit. Read it two (?) years ago and if I think about it I still start laughing.

For all the readers who like HXH, the author Yoshihiro Togashi is suffering severe backache making it painful for him to work. Therefore, we decide HXH will be on break in WSJ Issue #39&40 (this week and next week). In order to be back in issue #41, Togashi is under treatment now. We hope everyone continues supporting HXH in the futureLooks like the break has been extended another week.
Thanks, it sucks but I hope he gets better, at the very least there's an actual reason for the hiatus this time.

Does adding a 0 to something really count as a combo?
-
@Monkey:

You rate Kubo as a 0 how generous.
In my mind this would actually take away. -
May as well change the title back to Hiatus x Hiatus.
-
Can't he just draw in bed goddammit?
Im aware this has been replied to, and more has been said, but honestly, as someones who's spent 12+ hours everyday for the last year working on a comic, and as a human being, i find this comment disgusting, honestly grow up.

I envy you, I wish I had time for such creative work but sadly I don't.
-
The breaks are extremely annoying.
However, assuming the back stuff is true and he literally can't work without being in pain _then I guess its okay. Annoying, but we just have to deal with it. I've been hearing he's been having health issues for years, don't expect this back surgery of his to fix his problems permanently. There will probably be something else wrong with eventually.
The most annoying aspect of all this is that there's other manga out there that is not even half as good in the writing department and they hardly miss a week.
Oh well… hopefully he gets better and HxH actually gets finished in my life time... or his_
-
The most annoying aspect of all this is that there's other manga out there that is not even half as good in the writing department and they hardly miss a week.
I think it speaks to a problem with the manga industry as a whole, mainly the fact that so many manga are one-man shows and not collaborative efforts. There are few other mediums out there that demand both writing and artistic skills from a single individual. Imagine the movie industry if all actors also had to write screenplays, or if video game creative directors needed programming skills.
In most cases, people should be expected to do the one thing they do best and leave the rest to someone else. Let Togashi write, and let Kubo, Kishi or whoever draw. I love Togashi's style, but the art isn't what makes this series special.
-
While the overall art definitely isn't the standout for this series, I do believe Togashi has a knack for drawing action scenes extremely well, in a way that is both visceral and easy to understand. For that part I wouldn't want anyone else, cause that's another thing that makes this series great for me.

this is also in some ways, the magic of manga, and a lot of comic books, it allows a uniform creative direction. though that being said, in allot of cases one side is lacking, and it would be nice to have team working on the project. Of course Tagashi probably would never let someone else draw his manga, the guy doesn't even really like using assistants, and if he were to get some one to draw it, it would have to be someone who could blend well into his established art style, not just some one who happens to be free and can draw well. and kubos a terrible example, every aspect of his art outside colour spreads, from design to layout, is entirely bland and uninteresting,
-
In which week it will be back? The next one or in the other?
-
Next week unless he needs more time to rest up I suppose
-
Next week unless another Dragon quest comes out…
-
-
Some of you need to read about Togashi's medical problems as a whole. Try wikipedia.

Seriously.
The next time someone makes a lame dragonquest hiatus joke, I'm just going to thread ban them.
Shit is OLD.
It was sort of funny three YEARS ago. Then it got drilled into the ground.
Don't make hiatus jokes when he has legitimate reported health issues, and if you absolutely MUST act like an ass, at least come up with fresh material.
This also applies to Sonic the Hedgehog and Naruto threads.

What do you mean about the Sonic and Naruto threads sorry? O.o
I actually hope he goes back to playing Dragon Quest. Nothing funnier then seeing people get mad at someone they've never seen before. And it's a damn good game too.
-

They're both threads that take the same joke and recycle it over and over and over again with no creativity. Yes, the franchises are crap, but hearing a joke made years ago for the thousandths time is just stupid and it gets OLD.

Really? Not even ONE POST after I say don't make that awful joke anymore? After pretty much a solid week of this? You couldn't at least wait till the next page and pretend you didn't see the warning?
Screw it. Thread's closed till the next chapter comes out. Which is delayed due to the author's health.
-
Togashi's back problems and treatment persist…and the series is officially on hiatus until further notice with no announced return date.
Hopefully it will be sooner, rather than later.
I'll reopen the thread for the last episode of the anime if the manga has not resumed by then.
-
Last episode of the anime has aired. Discuss.
Thread closes immediately though if anyone bitches about the hiatus or makes a Dragon Quest joke.
-
Hunter X Hunter's final episode. :')
It actually made me tear up a little.
But it rather firmly solidified my personal theory that Ging is basically Togashi himself.
I have a lot of feelings I might talk about a little later.
-
Amazing episode to end this fantastic adaptation. It's a shame that a few episodes at the beginning had to be censored because of the old timeslot. It would have been perfect otherwise.
They ended it at the perfect spot. Nice touch about the West and East books.
Also, I finally understood the "Not Gotoh" scene.
-
When does an anime die ? NEVER!!! I'M GONNA MARATHON THIS SHIT EVERY YEAR UNTIL IT COMES BACK.
Though I have to admit! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ?
-
I haven't seen the episode yet but I wanted to post and say I've accepted that I've lost the bet and will take whatever the wager punishment was.
-
Amazing. 10/10 Would YEPYEPYEPYEP again.
My only gripe with the episode was that there wasn't enough Pariston
-

We have to wear some Aku no Hana vatars from the anime adaption.
I have to search though my files to find a good one, though. In any case, this was a great final episode and it ended in the exact way I hoped it would. I really hope Madhouse and Togashi make it possible to watch "HxH: Dark Continent" in a few years. I crave an animation of the DC doublespreads.
And did you notice the cameos during the scene where Gon talks to the keeper of the tree? Both Togashi's avatar (the dog) and Migi from Parasyte (on the "Next" magazine) are present. -

Sweet, I was going to ask you to open it, but I knew you would anyways =P
I'll have to watch it tomorrow, sadly. Can't wait, though it'll be sad to watch it end.
-
That ending was really good. No gyro tease but that's fine. Would been a mean little tease otherwise. The music though. My god it was great :D
-
Pretty sad to see it end! Hopefully restarts/continues in a few years when the Manga gets far enough.
-
They even made an orchestral arrangement of all the endings, damn so many feels. And all the best tracks were here… I think I teared up. Time to marathon with my friends, they're just about to start the greed island arc.
-
This was a really great adaptation. I probably would have heard about this series much later if it wasn't for the anime.
It's been a long time coming.
!
-
Interview with Takahiko Abiru, animation director for Hunter x Hunter. It's pretty interesting and gives us a little more solidified hope for the future.
"I believe they’re going to make more episodes of the show once the original comic starts up again, and I definitely want to be involved with that"
-
Just watched the last episode and I think it was perfect. Love the added scenes and everything about the finale. Also so glad I was right about 339 being animated to the full version of the opening. I called that months ago.
Just in general this adaptation was wonderful and I'm so glad I was able to experience it. Just 10/10 all around.
-
Great ending to a fantastic series. There is nothing better than a series you love getting a phenomenal adaptation that's full of heart. The 2011 anime really did rejuvenate my love for this series and I hope that in the future we get another adaptation that covers the Dark continent arc, though I don't think that will be for a long while. Space Bros & HunterxHunter Sundays got me through a lot over these past few years and just like with Space Bros episode 99 I was sad to say goodbye to these characters but my face had a big old grin plastered on it. Now the real question here is when the fuck are we getting blu-rays of this series in the west, it's criminal that we've heard nothing so far.
-
Oh man. The last 3 episodes. Right in the feels. I'm definitely going to try and purchase the series in it's entirety.
146 I had forgotten about the exchange with Something.
147 While I hated that overly long exposition about existence from a character who basically hardly had anything to do with the plot the rest was great with Gon and Killua's goodbye.
148 I really liked how it got wrapped up. Just what I wanted. Although a tad more Hisoka would have been welcome lol.
