I just wish I knew how to read half of Horikoshi's panels and understand the action.
My Hero Academia II - A true Hero

@andre We all do, unfortunately we aren't high enough on mushrooms to follow it.
-
Maybe I'm late to this, but after seeing that scarf cape thing that Shigaraki has, I think he is an Akira reference.
-
I like Shigaraki's will wavering by being unable to break something. It's neat and fits with his brand of villainy. Reminds me of people in real life.
Mirko is badass, though the damage is bordering on too grotesque. I think my favorite part was Lemillion hindering Shigaraki by obscuring his vision with his hands. Simple yet creative and a good use of his power.
But like usual the chapter is hard to follow, both the fight and narrative. Bakugo's predicament feels out of place, and it's hard for the other heroes' emotions to hit home when all but one have zero ties to Bakugo. Why do they care so much about this random student that they're willing to die? The only part here I'm invested in is Jeanist, but he's little more than a commentator. Not a fan of the close-up of a damaged heart either, this isn't the series for that.
I think if these chapters only featured Bakugo and Jeanist they'd feel a lot better, even with the confusing pages.
-
The fighting reminded some Toriko characters dealing with Neo. Its kind of fun.
The bubble from wash feel convenient an uneeded. I'm glad the plan is making surture thing not tturning into an heart. That makes a lot more sense.
Facepalm body making people without it being a power is really pushing the whole "he's not using his quirks guys I promise"
-
I want to care about this fight, but I'm not feeling it. At least Mirko's still being her awesome self. Please, please wrap this fight up, Horikoshi. I'll take anything over this. Give me a couple chapters of Mr. Compress rotting in prison. That's fine.
-
yeah, no emotional beats at ALL from this move. Sorry, Hori!
-
Mirko shows us again why she's so popular. Can Stain come back now?
-
Great chapter. Bakugo is meant to fight someone and Shoto winning early was an indicator. Looks like most of this was a way to shave down the professionals. Shiketsu HS have not popped up yet

That's the only message Hori has.
Gonna take the opportunity to copy a truth bomb about Deku and MHA's writing.
-
Man, Mirio is a significantly better character than Deku and it really shows.
He does not deserve this treatment. -

Reading all of this really puts it into perspective. I really wish Deku had an actual encounter with Stain during the Dark Deku arc because Stain is a really good counter to Deku, as both look up to All Might and both have the same ideals on what it means to be a hero, but go in complete opposite ways to achieve that. It would've been great, but I guess Horikoshi just wanted to begin wrappin up the story.
-
Dang, those are some juicy panels at the end. Horikoshi's always been quite good at close-ups of faces.
Mirio is a beautiful boy and has consistently been one of the best characters since his introduction.
-
Was the butt shot necessary?
-
Wait, no other battles? We are already in Boss Battle territory?
-
Why bother with other battles when you can have Deku to deal with everything?
-
I'm sorry, I might be hallucinating things, was a hero in our series about heroes so ineffective and incompetent in buying 2 seconds of time that his only recourse was to present and slap his ass at the final boss?
And this was our lead up to Deku's epic return?
Lol this manga is a joke
-
I always knew Mirio was a bit cheeky.
-
Remember when he was top 1 in the school and leveled the whole class without breaking a sweat?
And, welp, why a fully clothed moon shining would phase someone, again? lol
-
I'm just speechless!
-
Well, all of the interesting characters are down and done, so it's Deku time.
-
The order of the fights in this arc is weird. Is the Uraraka fight still going ?
-
Well, at least Deku arrived. I like the Mirio butt scene. That's part of his character and if you can't fight 'em, confuse 'em.
@fana
I'm guessing Hori will play the flashback game, showing us how Deku got to U.A. and then switch scenes to the other fights. Which is fine by me. I really want to see Uraraka and the AFO battle. -
Feels like I read 6 pages and it was over. I always wondered what he specifically did to get Nighteye to laugh. Didn't think I would see it, wow. Also Shigaraki looks ridiculous.
-
@Cockycent you don't like his pokemon inspired evolution?
-
This was probably the least inspired chapter of mha. Anime filler padding for time type writing. Also terrible costume/design this chapter, which may seem nitpicky but really took away from the emotion it was meant to convey
-
I feel so disconnected from this fight. Maybe if I was younger this'd be the coolest thing ever, but I dunno. Deku and Shigaraki/AfO don't feel like themselves, it's like I'm reading about completely different people.
-
I read this chapter right after reading the latest One Piece chapter. Big mistake. But, I'm gonna try to be positive. I liked… the color spread. And Deku not raging out again. I dare anyone to complain about Crawler VS Number 6 in My Hero Vigilantes after reading the last several chapters.

The first one the I see complaining about Vigilantes get hit in the jaw. Just like Naruto the spin off is miles better than the main product.

You are a Boruto fan?
-
@desa Bo what? I'm talking Rock Lee's Springtime of Youth.
-
I thought spirits would talk him out of it. I like that it was Mirio. He threw a tantrum and the chapter ended. This feels shorter than those final Bleach chapters.
I'd prefer if they switch to the other situations within the next 2 chapters.
-
Nice last panel. Mirio still remains a great character.

"O my seven quirks was a mistake." - Miyazaki (probably).

That's not the cover page I expected for endgame boss battle.
Maybe Deoxyshiggy will shift to speed form now after that shin shoryuken
-
What a strange place to reveal Hagekure's full face.
Ah, yes, the classic timer put on a battle. I do like Mirio being Deku's wingman but it looks like U.A.'s gonna fall eventually. Oh, and if anyone wants to explain exactly what the Second's quirk does I'd appreciate it. -
Honestly, this final fight is boring the hell out of me. Large part of the reason is probably the fact that I never really cared about Deku - Shoto and Bakugo were always my favorite characters, and Midoriya I only really found interesting when it came to his impact on them. But now you have Deku doing bloody everything, while everybody else is in the background.
Frankly, Mirio was far more interesting than Deku, and was the main reason why I was able to actually read these Deku-focus chapters.
-
I'm hoping this was just a sort of "get rid of the overwhelming strength and then make the final fight between two vulnerable people". That is to say, All For One becomes weak enough for any ol' experienced hero to defeat but considering the circumstances it is Deku who does so.

you know, at least Naruto being broken and Super Saiyan being broken are just massive power pool upgrades and bigger attacks to techniques they already have.
This shit is bullshit and I know this has been repeated multiple times since like 5 years ago, breaks a lot of what the series stood for.
Like he straight up utilize mastery over so many super powers at such a high level this takes chosen one and deus ex machine and power creep to a whole new level of low. -
Things are going too smooth too early, though. So chances are the brokenness will be for naught. Maybe a chance to deprive Deku of his quirks and go back to what it should have been since the beginning: him proving he could be a quirkless hero.
But honestly, whatever. The only reason I still follow MHA is in the hopes Tsuyu appears on a chapter. Her aside, I lost interest in absolutely every aspect of this. Can’t even muster the effort to understand what is going on in half the panels.

Power Creep Plus Ultra
https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/1014544 -
This is somewhere lower than late Naruto and slightly better than post-soul society Bleach.
-
Cool quirk idea, but it was introduced a bit too late to generate any hype, I believe.
I'm not expecting any good twist from Hirokishi by now, so I'm going to assume that somehow the OfA and AfO will interact and give us the flashback that is missing so that we can get an "emotional" resolution to the conflict of the Super bros.
Got a bit lost in the action, but it was a decent read.
