I always say Negima is the better version of My hero. Although much more echhi?
Also more crushingly disappointing.

My favourite Negima arc was where they got stuck in the magical world and every seperated group in the class had their own story thread and way of surviving until they re-united with others…
That was so awesome and different, I remember loving it a lot. A lot of the characters grew and developed, and a lot of them got nice moments to shine.
And of course, we also got the legendary meathead Jack Rakan.
He was an absolute hoot.
As for being on topic with Hero,
I can't say that I share Robby's problem of not remembering many names.
If anything, that seems weird to me. Dunno if it's because I retain a lot of compartmental information due to autism,
but I can list off quite a large number of the cast without putting in much effort.
I honestly think it feels strange to see you guys mention genuinely forgetting the names of secondaries.
For me it's something that just comes on board as knowledge in the brain that.... stays there.
Like how you remember the name of everyday objects in real life. You likely never use a jackhammer, but you still know what it's called. That kind of logic.
To be fair the names of the characters must be easier to remember for Japanese speakers since they are puns. On the other hand i remember more names from the Bleach and Naruto cast then i do for My Hero Academia.
Most likely because as flawed as those series are, they do not have random characters like guy with a tail and dude that is powered by sugar in the cast. Bloat like that is unneeded.
But that's the thing, I genuinely struggle to comprehend the idea of not being able to name most of the characters,
since that kind of thing for a series is usually firmly compartmented in my brain.
Like how back in school, I never directly spoke to many people outside of my small friend group,
but I could still tell you the first/last name of 100+ students in my school if you pointed to them.
@MDL:

That is incredibly unusual and your special quirk.
Teachers have to be able to do that, but that's part of their job.
I can name about 3/4 of the class (though half of that is family name only), the rest I remember through what their Quirk is.
I refuse to learn Sugar Man's actual name. Fuck him. Most redundant member of the class.
Most redundant is the invisible traitor that only serves as ship bait for tailboy, also a useless character. Why Kendo, Monoma and Tetsux4 weren't on 1-A?
@Cyan:

Funnily enough, his name means sugar in japanese.
I can name most names due to reading fanfics. 1-B is a bit harder.
Anyone else catch the new OVA on Crunchyroll? It was 2 episodes that were supposed to be taking place before they got their licenses.
I gotta say. It's either a cover up or a miracle that no students have died during training before.
Also funnily enough it only focused on half the class. The usual suspects. Deku, Iida, Momo, Uraraka, Denki, Kirishima, Bakugo, Tsuyu, Todoroki and Tokyami.
Monoma by definition needs to be in a different class or else the whole thing of his inferiority complex is just bakugo redux light
I have a hard time with Tetsu since I dont like copy characters. And he was introduced saying the same thing as Kirishima. Then they proceeded to have a draw because of course they couldn't have different level of strength or fighting style based on their training ,smarts or life experience.

They even have the same birthday lol.
is being summed up here but this was retweeted by Yonkou so I'm sure it's good. Anyway, it looks like the quality of the animated series should stabilize for Season Five. I remember being really put down by how lifeless the first two-thirds of Season Four was so I'm glad to see that production might be tightening up.
My Hero Vigilantes volume 10 cover

Step your game up, Deku. Koichi's looking great in that All Might hoodie.
All Might hoodies >>> Bunny ears mask that's never worn
! Press F for the heroes. But it will be concluded with the middle ground as Shigi is "All don't feel so well Dr. Ujiko.", next two chapter is the make or break of the longest blue ball in the manga: Dabi = Touya.
Volume 28 cover:
!
Pretty nice, the later covers have been pretty good.
! It's hard, because I don't disagree with what Facepalm is saying. Complacency is a bitch.
! It had to be a terrible decision, and seeing Nana break down like that was heartbreaking. Did we finally get a confirmation that Grand Torino is Shigi's grandfather?
! Also, Aizawa may not die, but I feel that bullet is aimed right at him. All in all. This is the beginning of the huge losses.
Vigilantes 84
! Midnight for the clutch. After him,Koichi.

Oof that's a quality cover. Deeply ominous, and the reversal of Shigaraki's eyes on Aizawa is neat.
! Wow, this series is incredible.
! I love how Shigaraki calls heroes “role-players” — because he’s exactly right. They’re the army of the state and enforce its will.
! How sad that it seems Gran Torino may have been Shigaraki’s paternal grandfather. But he’s a flawed mentor who abandoned his son. AFO exploited all of this to absolutely destroy his enemy.
! It’s clear that this is Shigaraki’s last stand. Deku + crew will defeat him after losing their mentors. But AFO will have the last laugh and absorb his power (+regen will reveal his face for the first time — Deck’s dad).
! As the “hero” that destroyed Japan’s worst villain, AFO can quickly seize power in a society where the top heroes have all been decimated. He’ll disband the hero society and the public will love him —*leaving no one around to contest his will.
! Deck has to leave the country for training. Goes to England instead of America because he has to do things differently from All Might. Cue My Hero.
Good Vigilantes chapter this week.
Of all the heroes Pop and Koichi met, Midnight was nowhere near on my radar. What a great surprise.
We're finally getting more info on No. 6's motivation. I'm hoping we get his flashback soon. If it wasn't established before, No. 6 threw down the gauntlet and made it clear he's the Big Bad that must be stopped. I couldn't help but laugh at No. 6's Full Sociopath Speech all the while Koichi was worried about the burnt chicken nugget ranting at him.
Still not sure how the fight will go down but with No. 6 needing to heal I'm guessing the story will focus on Pop's recovery and Makoto helping to clear Pop and Koichi's names.
Oh, and I totally didn't notice until someone mentioned it on Discord, but No. 6's burnt face looks a lot like Two Face.

Aizawa's color scheme keeps throwing me off. I keep thinking he's Deku.

CubedC's twitter post, Nomura went from Dick Grayson to Harvey Dent.

! Red Flags stated being collected. And how does damage translate from dragon size body to human size body?
Well, rest in peace old man, looking backwards I kinda expected him to die back at AFO´s fight. Also, I think that Shigaraki will success and destroy Eraser´s quirk, but unless one of his quirks gives him stamina he shouldn´t be able to move for much longer.
! I still wonder whom Nana slept with…
Stop teasing and give us the full Nana backstory already! There's so much I want to know.
Gotta say, this is one intense fight. I'm not sure exactly how it will end but it's gonna be crazy.
Aizawa's about to get Mirio'd. Interesing how Hori chose to show Eri during Xmas and not her current status. Don't think she's in danger or anything now but it's strange.

Once Eraser is done he will regenerate and can bitchslap everyone.

I am expecting few more quirks will spontaneously show up within Deku to save the total annihilation. Endavour's fate is still a toss up.

Yeah considering Nana's Float quirk was brought up in the arc before this (I think) it would be an opportune time for it to manifest. Although I'm not sure exactly how much use it would be right now, especially if Deku should presumably not be able to use it to a useful standard.
Once Eraser is done he will regenerate and can bitchslap everyone.
I mean, I can see Shiggy having to retreat because he is exhauted and his body wasn´t ready for all those quirks (the whole 75% thing) Those black scars all over his body may be related to that, that said, only Machia can help him to get away. Unless AFO gave him a copy of Kurogiri´s quirk, but that one would fall in the "hard to use category"

Null Aizawa, release decay, heroes have to retreat and wait Machia.
Only way that this won’t end today is that Shiggy doesn’t have unlimited stamina with all the quirk cocktail, or that he does have it but it is “my stamina stays like this” unlimited and no “max stamina” kinda deal.
! So did I got this right? The bullet Chisaki had worked instantly but the on Ujiko got to thinker and synthesize form months takes time to spread?
Or Mirio could have been ok had he clawed a piece of his skin where the bullet hit? To convenient.
At least I'm happy that Momo failed once again.

! Eraser cut off his leg in about a second; you can see that Rock Lock and Manual are in the exact same position they were in when trying to move him away.
! Shigaraki is talking like a hero. Gigantomachia is despair. What happened to all of the heroes? I wonder what Eraserhead’s quirk would do to Machia.
! Oh, and the Todoroki family is coming together again.
! Momo you're fired.

! Oh, and the Todoroki family is coming together again.
! The point still holds, I'm supposed to believe that the yakuza bullet is more efficient than the one cocooned by Ujiko?
! Yes, they were working directly with Eiri, more pure materials, than a synthetic prototype oriented for mass production.
! Specially if he turned 6 bullets into 20 with the same final effect but slower? Did shiggy get the research notes or just the bullets?
! The yakuza got to what they had, by torturing a child for years, and had overhauls quirk for cheating a lot of the process, The Doctor got a synthetic duplicate that works slower and should be mass production ready with 6 samples, and no room to spare tests. And did it as a side project, and probably is not his field of expertise depending on how much chemistry is in there over quirk biology.
! The guy that clones quirks and create living deads can't do it properly?
Albeit fair point, I find hard to swallow.
But yeah the arc ends once Machia hit the scenes, Shigi is not in the best conditions to keep berserking his way. The only thing I could see fitting is the Dabi revel, transmitted to Japan via Skeptic.
https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/1007488
! Patiently waiting for the Touya revel now that Shoto is on the scene.
So does Horikoshi chooses the moves named after states of US at random or what?
Shiggy looking like a chewed up dog toy.
I cringed when he busted up his teeth biting into Deku's arm.
I don't care that he can heal, that shit went right through me.
This back and forth with the climax, but not really but there's another climax but not really can become a little exhausting.
This is the best possible matchup. The trio + #1 Hero Endeavor vs. Shigaraki. We’ve been waiting for this since USJ.
Gigantomachia looming but they have to take him down this time around. Who do y’all think will do it? Do Ingenium and Uravity have the stones? Ochaco’s power might actually be perfect for Machia — just send him to space or crush him with the power of gravity.
Eraser lost an eye but continues to be a badass. No hesitation amputation. What a fucking chad.
This might be the best place to take a break tbh. I may have to pause on this + One Piece until the end of the year.
I'm confused, why I see Bakugou bursting the flask but then 4 panels later Shigaraki is throwing it anyways?
As for Machia, it wouldn't displease me to see Momo's drug fail, but I am sure that's not the case. She mentioned the drug would spread faster the more Machia moved, so it's probably gonna take a while to take effect. Maybe it won't even be able to put him to sleep, but dull him enough to allow him to be taken down/save someone's life.
It would also be bad if that wasn't the case. It is one thing to mobilize the good guys on a mission and have them fail, another is to have them succeed but then disregard it. One is subverting our expectations, the other is just meh.
And of course Todoroki is there (and of course the Ochatsuida Trio didn't followed him), but I didn't mind it. If anything, his presence raised my hopes for Endeavor dying. I don't know what it is, but seeing Shigaraki struggle with 10 heroes against him and not a single one dropping for good is giving me like blue reader balls (?). Every page my only feeling is "omg can a hero just die ffs??"
@.access:
I'm confused, why I see Bakugou bursting the flask but then 4 panels later Shigaraki is throwing it anyways?
Because he had 2 bullets. One in each hand. People pointed out last chapter.
Yeah, I sorta thought so because the position of the hand holding the flask seemed to be continuously changing (at a moment pierced through Ryukyu, then hanging, then on Ryukyu again), but that damn as a hell wasn't made clear enough to give the feeling of "one down, one more to go".
That's the sort of thing that needs to be clearly shown to be grasped immediately instead of something you need to go stop the flow of the reading (or even go back) to figure out.
Or maybe I just wasn't paying attention and most readers already knew that.
Well, that was tense as hell, one gotta admire Aizawa, even with Shiggy grabbing his face he didn´t blink. The last spread with Machia was nice too, now the whole thing about civilians having the right to use their quirks in self-defense may work, even if the MLA can´t put themselves as the saviors. Hell, even if Machia wasn´t here, they let ton of people without protection about regular villains.
Only thing I didn´t like is that the whole mansion battle seems to have happened off-panel, presenting all those mla divisions members and then not seeing them fight seems like a waste. Then again, if the villains win now, maybe the kids will have to fight them eventually. Hori could also come up with new villains for the league, but it would be weird for him to create so many designs and then not using them.
So does Horikoshi chooses the moves named after states of US at random or what?
Most likely, so far the only smash move that could be a reference is the oklahoma one, where All Might spins and looks like a tornado.

Ohako has a weight limit, the max they can due is safe people is Machia's path.
