Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...

Nah, we've got Redestro plus at least three more named MLA guys to contend with, Gigantomachia, Hawks fallout, and the "end" of the LoV to cover. Probably 10 more chapters.

! I generally dislike this sort of "character progression" because it permeates the idea that mental issues are simple to solve if you get to the source. It's also unrealistic so it breaks my suspension of disbelief.
! This is a special case and makes sense since his trauma was that he never knew whether he was a clone or not and if he got hurt he'd disappear forever. He overcame this because he was forced to feel pain and found out that he still existed after the fact and given the circumstance of his crush being in danger this snapped him out of his fear over the matter. The underlying problem however, of the clones thinking they're real, might cause trouble in the future but only if a traumatic experience like before resurfaces. Until then, he's pretty much a free man and it made for a great character moment to show how powerful his quirk really is.

! And that's exactly how it doesn't work, which has been my gripe with the issue. It's a very common character arc in a lot of media: an event occurs, a troubled caracter is forced to do something he avoids or learns that he can do what he thought he couldn't do and then realizes that "everything was in his head" and it's perfectly fine. The past problem is then often played for laughs like in this chapter with the clones thinking all the other are clones except themselves. This is a subject that is widely missrepresented and not a particular issue with this manga (altough MHA does try to be more realistic about the themes it covers) and I don't want to derait the thread, so better leave it at that.

My Hero Academia Season 4 teaser.
-
^ Looking good. Nighteye's Foresight eye looks cool in color. lol at the obligatory Bakugo and Todoroki shots, their anime only fans are gonna be disappointed.

Well you gotta at least show them since they're top 3. The season looks nice. But it wasn't my favorite. I'm basically just excited for the seasons after lol.
-
I'm excited for the moments that anime-only viewers are going to flip out over.
Magne's death, Kirishima's new move, the Mirio/Nighteye stuff,
the revelation of the extent of Eri's abuse, Toga & Twice screwing over the Yakuza,
Mirio losing his quirk, the Deku/Eri buffing cheat code,
Shigaraki brutalizing Chisaki, Nighteye's death, etcI can't wait to watch people's reactions to the craziness.
-
Oh the Mirio fight was sometimes busy in the anime but I have full faith Bones will make it easier to understand
Also the Deku fight should be a lot more clear to see too -
It's Father's Day and all I see is Endeavor slander on social media smh

A decent chunk of MHA fans are really annoying. They imagine Endeavor doing worse stuff even though they have no evidence to it. And if they're anime viewers they haven't seen him slight development. But some manga readers are pissed that Horikoshi dares to redeem him in anyway. It's the same with people who hate Bakugo. People shout abuse to the hills. But the main character is aware of his behavior and still doesn't harbor ill will towards him.
I dunno what it is about this series. Maybe the world setting is a bit too much like ours. But traits that other shonen series have are forgivable in this. Like Vegeta/Sasuke/Sesshoumaru didn't try to murder everyone and backstab more than once. Or that in so many series the rival was a flat out villain that did horrible things and then did a heel turn often out of convenience rarely seem to be as heavily scrutinized.
-
I doubt Bones will change anything in their adaptation (some of the story flaws would require some modifications, especially the ending) and even great animation won't be enough to salvage that arc for me but I'm at least looking forward to the 2 decent fights in that arc (Kiri&Fat Gum's & Suneater's).
Those fights have potential to turn out great if the animators take some freedom and turn those poorly executed action scenes into well animated battles. If they stick to the manga's panels, it will be a messy arc.
At the very least, I hope they re-order a lot of this arc's many flashbacks.
-
It's Father's Day and all I see is Endeavor slander on social media smh
He's not the worst but he's not good dad.
Maybe he'll become one but he currently isn't.
-
The way this arc is structured, I think I'll be great animated. There's a lot going on with lots of different people. The only things I remember I didn't like was the female characters barely getting anything to do and Kirishima's flashback feeling a little out of place. But, it has Giganto so it's worth it. Oh, and Overhaul's goons being lackluster except for the earthbender.
-
They could add to the girls fight.
Also, on Endeavor, ask them how they feel about Snape, to try to get them to contradict themselves on abuse and bullies.
-
Reading the official translation, I realized the real Shigaraki destroyed the tower because he saw himself (and by extension Twice) losing to the big boss.
Late to the party, but I thought this was nice.

I need to re-read the chapter cause I didn't realize that's what happened lol.
That tik tok was cute.
Also side note. Looks like Bakugo is gonna be part of the next dlc for Jump Force.

That song is from Bo Burnham's stand up. Check him up if you didn't, he's awesome. Has 2 Netflix specials.

New chapter out.
! Shiggy is getting f'ed up. Twice is still the best. Spinner still bottom tier. But not everyone can be the top. The politician has a power pretty similar to Love's. Actually is there a difference? Feels like it's been forever so I don't remember her abilities fully.
-
! Cool chapter, I really like Spinner character development, from being the guy that didn´t trust his boss to the most loyal member. I also like his quirk, he is the most average member of the league, but I don´t think the sticking to wall is everything about it, since we didn´t get the usual square.
! Twice keeps being great, but I think Hori forgot that in the yakuza arc Toga used a clone to bait Lockrock, it may be something that he will have to correct in the volume version, but it´s not that much of a problem.
! About Shigaraki, the guy really needs some help right now, it´s Deku all over again, but with more severe injuries and without RecoveryLady. -
! So Re-Destro is basically the Hulk.
! -
! Twice is the best. Giganto has arrived. The MLA is Doomed. I'm only worried if the Doctor can give Shiggy a new hand or not.
-
! Damn, Shiggy! Somewhere in Tartarus, Overhaul is smiling. Looks like either his feet can unleash Decay or the power from his hands spread to his shoes. Hm.
! I was thinking Apocalypse but Re-Destro's CEO Hulk. Well Nintendo's got CEO Bowser so I guess everyone's jumping on the bandwagon.
! Found it interesting Skeptic's puppets didn't transform back into objects after "dying". Still waiting for Mr. Compress to swoop in and save Toga & OG Twice. Oh, boy, Gigantomachia is knockiing. I'll just put a nice big 'ole death flag right next to Slidin' N Go and start the countdown. Well, at least I'll get to see him fight…for one or two panels before the end.New chapter out.

! I don't remember except she can only use her power once a day and has to love the target.

I also like his quirk, he is the most average member of the league, but I don´t think the sticking to wall is everything about it, since we didn´t get the usual square.
! I agree. His quirk being called Gecko applies Spinner will unlock something more, similar to Froppy's Frog quirk.
-
! Joker has the kind of quirk I like in My hero. Simple explanation and aplication that you have to work from. I've been missing those.
! The bickering between the Twices has me wondering how things will play out once the threat has passed. Will they try to attack each other?
! Spinner is now a fanatic of Facepalm. Yup I continue to feel his "development" and alignement don't match the character and are forced.
! Since Joker is big and Giganto is big. Maybe I'll finally see a cool giant fight(aside from deadly sins). -
New Vigilantes out.
! Damn Mr. Oguro don't kid around. He is like Frank Castle, but with you know, a moral compass.
-
Good Vigilantes chapter (chapter 56)
One more Vig spoiler tag for good measure.
! At first I was thinking that animal version of No. 6 was some type of metaphor but I guess that was really him. What a tease tho! I wanna see what happened to O' Clock.
! Last chapter it was the contrast between Knuckleduster and All Might dealing with a crisis. Now, we got this twisted version of Hero succession between Knuckleduster and No. 6, complete with the "You're Next!" I like that No. 6 really wants to follow in O'Clock's footsteps, but in his own insane way. It gives him more depth as a character.
! We see how important it is to fully understand your quirk with Knuckleduster literally overclocking No. 6's brain. What a smart move! Still, I don't think No. 6 is going down this easily. He and Koichi are gonna lock horns at some point, and now we got a personal reason for No. 6 to want him dead. I've been iffy about him, but after this chapter I'm all on board with No. 6. -
! I really don't know if that was an actual metaphor or if the doctor was actually growing people on jars for the nomufication project.
-
! Fun chapter. I bet Overhaul would laugh at Shigi, then get really pissed when he trolls him that he can Decay things without touching them now. "Stressing out gives me power" is pretty fun for a business CEO villain's power.
! Reading Spinner's stuff felt to me almost like the author was breaking the fourth wall. "You think I don't belong with the rest of the League? Well, you're right, but I'm here and sticking with them. Deal with it."
! I'm gonna guess Compress is gonna pop in to help Real-Twice and Toga. Not that I don't think Twice could handle him, but he's gotta focus on helping Toga right now and his clones might not be able to do much against Skeptic and his gorilla-guys. Feel like Spinner's gotta show off solo, and not sure Dabi's gonna need the help, so this is probably the best choice to give Compress his moment in the arc. -
! how the hell is Shigi going to game from now on with half a hand, CEO can't get away with this

Caleb´s weekly thread for MHA made me curious about something, both Curious and Trumpet had supports gadgets, the thing is that they seem a lot more advanced than everything the heroes and villains had so far. They are kinda lika Iron-man´s suit in the latest movies, considering how MHA´s universe technology stagnated during the birth of quirks, it makes me wonder who created those (maybe Skeptic)
AFO´s doctor is kinda like Dr Hogback from One Piece, so I was wondering if the Mha´s universe would have a Vegapunk. That said, the MLA´s gadgets are still weapons that depend of the user quirk, so they are useless in the hands of a person without the right quirk.
-
That stress quirk really sets your direction in life. Don't see how, say, a snorkeling instructor could utilize the ability to any kind of potential.
My boss would really be OP with it, great guy but stressing over every little thing.
-
This can't be stated enough but I love how Horikoshi draws his crowd shots. Everyone has a unique design and a unique quirk, it's so much fun just looking at them.
I spotted a guy whose quirk is telekinetically controlling fish.

Hori apologizes for forgetting that Twice had already measured Toga. -
I wonder if it will be retconned in the volume version, or "just go on with it" kinda solution.
-
He only has to leave the never part out. Using the latest version of people seems to be how his quirk works. He did it with the Tower League Clones.

Well, Re-Destro's company is good at making quirk specific tools, he only needs battle data to turn them into the perfect weapons. But, yeah, technology is all over the place in the series. I chalk it up to Hori wanting us to understand this is a future world, but in-universe I see it as the advancement of certain technology during wars/the emergence of quirks. Advanced quirk tools coming from a need to adjust to the new world order and robots first developed to fight quirk users. There's a bit of irony using them in school enrollments and festivals if that's really true.
I love the idea of a Vegapunk and Caesar Clown in MHA. Someone has to be making Re-Destro's stuff. Hope Caesar's a twisted version of Hatsume. Don't think Re-Destro's interested in using robots over quirk users, but we have to have killer robots eventually. I could see MHA's Vegapunk making them for the Justice/Police department with unforeseen consequences.

Oh yeah, there is that plotline with the police wanting to change their ways, that has the potential to be a problem if they go to far. I could see a possible police Vegapunk being the creator of the Iron-Maiden and the special hand-cuffs, but they may also be creations from when people with quirks were a minority.
And I completely forgot U.A. giant robots, since Todoroki and Momo could destroy them without much trouble, but maybe sturdier versions can be made. There is also the fact that the little ones seem to be sentient, but that is most likely just a joke or aside from Shigaraki, Deku and his friends will also have to fight against the revolution of the machines.
-
This particular incident, plus the next funny business of the league will turn the government into a more control oriented adversary.
Specially how well conected are this set of assholes of destro, they might be keeping tabs or control over the more regulation oriented sides of politics. Hell, the kk-friends of humanity could be the other half of the incident.

I'm caught up on the anime. I wanted to start reading the manga after S3 ended, but got lazy. Started reading it during the middle of June. I think S3 ends around chapter 128-132. I'm at chapter 85 and i'm going back and forth on if I should go past 128 or wait til after S4 ends. I'm leaning towards the former because I don't think going ahead will ruin S4.

I'd say stop and wait until S4. But, you can always read a few chapters ahead, get a feel of where the season is going.

Hot Diggity Damn
! Shigi got his memories back. Game over Monarch. We will finally witness the Destruction Giganto and Awakened Shigi are about to unleash.
And with each flashback Tenko’s past gets more depressing.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

! Hori can´t fool me, at first glance Shigaraki losing his family hands seems to be for the sake of character development, but in fact he is just tired of having to draw them all the time. Jokes aside, cool chapter, seeing how kind and nice Shigaraki family was just makes his actual person more sad, even more so if young Tenko wanted to be a hero.
! About him being able to decay things without all his fingers, I always thought that for someone like Uraraka and Shigaraki losing a finger wouldn´t make them lost their quirks, that the "five fingers" thing meant all the "current fingers", but Re-Destro being surprised about it means that I was wrong. I don´t think this will apply to his sane hand, if so the poor guy will never be able of playing a videogame. -
I wonder if Overhaul can awaken his power to be able to use it without hands :ninja:
-
! Wasn't expecting Shiggy to get his memories back. Cool seeing his family. Looks like Hori's saving the drama between Shigaraki and his dad for last. No doubt in my mind Tenko and Hana wanted to be heroes but daddy wasn't having it.
! Damn, Slidin' Go. Thought you'd last at least one page. lol Hope he did the smart thing and got outta there.
! I thought Skeptic's obsession might get him killed, but Gigantomachia's gave him the ultimate wake up call. He might just live through this.! Hori can´t fool me, at first glance Shigaraki losing his family hands seems to be for the sake of character development, but in fact he is just tired of having to draw them all the time. Maybe only keep his dad to cover his face. And, since I'm guessing The Doctor will fix Shggy's hand, I think he'll be able to decay with one finger. But, maybe the less fingers he uses the slower it'll decay.
@Watch-man:I wonder if Overhaul can awaken his power to be able to use it without hands :ninja:
Deku can teach him shoot style. :ninja:

What was that thing about being a housewife?
-
What was that thing about being a housewife?
! It seems that Shigaraki´s real father was against his dream, so his sister told him to keep it a secret, like she did telling their father that she wanted to be a housewife. So Shiggy and his sister must have shared the same dream, most likely becoming heroes.
-

Are you saying that:
! His father compared a hero's work to a housewife?
-
The chapter felt really short but it was focused so it's fine. Shigaraki Tomura is growing on me so fast, I will happily have as many chapters centered on him as possible.
And Horikoshi did let himself go in some panels here. I approve.
-
Are you saying that:
! His father compared a hero's work to a housewife?
No, not really.
! In short:
-Shigaraki´s father is against his children being heroes, most likely because of his mother giving him away.
-Shigaraki himself tells him that he wants to be a hero anyway, getting scolded because of that.
-Hana also wants to be a hero, but decides to lie about it for now to avoid conflict, being a housewife is most likely what she thought it would humour his father.
! The wording in the chapter made it sound more complicated than it really is. -
! I feel really really really bad for Shigaraki.
Ever since first learning about his past I can't help wondering how much it would suck to accidentally kill your family.
That part about holding hands with his sister almost made me tear up.
! I think if we actually get to see the graphic moment he destroyed his sister, that will tip me over the edge.
! It also makes me feel bad for him in the sense of "this guy has been warped by a horrific experience, then he was groomed by All For One"…
The heroes are out to catch him, but I can't help but feel like he should be helped somehow.
Tragic cases like him exist in real life all the time, where they were completely normal before traumatic experiences influenced them towards crime,
and then the book was thrown at them without sympathy because "the law is the law".
! MHA raises important nuances that deeply speak to me when it comes to good vs evil.
