I just want to mention that Kaminari wrapping his arms around Kirishima and Koda is great. Love the cute comradery there.
I don't think Deku's vestiges will help him snap out of mind control again like last time since Horikoshi did that. But this arc could help provide organic developments for how One for All and the vestiges work by having Deku interact with Shinso again and seeing how Monoma inherits his powers in whatever fashion. I like where this can go. Somebody mentioned that this could even start to threaten the secrecy of One for All, which I like (especially if that ties into the traitor plotline).
Mina might finally get a chance to shine here outside of someone else's flashback. Cool! Actually, Deku's team has very good Quirk compatibility. Uraraka can use gravity on Mineta's sticky balls, Mineta's sticky balls can trap people for Ashido's acid, and Deku is both strong/mobile enough to move one of his teammates across the field while having wind pressure projectile attacks now.
The only other teamups that interest me are Bakugo and Jiro since explosions can make huge sounds and impacts like Jiro's Quirk, and Momo leading a team of light and dark Quirk users. Teams 1 and 3 don't capture my interest much, but maybe Horikoshi can do clever things with Koda and Shinso's voice-based powers and Kirishima's skin maybe withstanding Kaminari's lightning while Todoroki could make ice structures for his mobile-proficient teammates to maneuver in.
I like Shinso's personality already. It's actually refreshing to have a shonen character who recognizes the superficiality of sportsmanship/combat encounters instead of thinking they're a way to understand each other's deepest feelings or whatever like One Piece and Naruto. Not caring about making friends while wanting to save people in a way that isn't in an exaggerated douchy way like Bakugo or pre-entrance exam Iida is a unique duality I hope gets explored.
I don't expect this to happen and I am totally overthinking this a lot, but Uraraka could build an interesting bond with Shinso since he too wants to focus solely on a hero career without getting caught up with having feelings for other students.
Shinso is a pragmatic student with idealistic goals while Uraraka is an idealistic student with pragmatic goals. Shinso has a limited but overpowered Quirk while Uraraka has a very versatile Quirk that causes fatigue.
Uraraka is struggling with catching up to Deku while Shinso knows he is way behind everybody else but apparently has the cunning, tenacity, and tools to still stand his ground.
They could make great foils for the different nuances in each other's philosophies for how they develop. Although they have different personalities and student interactions. Of course, that is assuming the whole crush subplot goes anywhere interesting. Which I immensely doubt in a mainstream shonen action-adventure manga.
@Cyclone_Baroness:
The match ups are interesting. The most troublesome is probably gonna be Team B-5 since Petty McGee can duplicate quirks. Having 2 people with mind control is insane lol. Deku commented on the vestiges still bothering him. Hopefully they don't give him an out again.
I could see Team A-1 losing to hype Shizou.
Don't you mean that you can see Team A-1 winning to hype Shinso since he is on that team and will fight Deku in the final round? If he loses this round, he will look like less of a threat.
A part of me hopes that if Class A wins the first round, then Deku's team should lose the last round to shake up expectations and keep up Shinso looking like an intimidating wild card. Preferably from time running out while Class B still has more students on the field than Class A so Deku does not look too pathetic. After Deku's streak against villains lately, it'd be interesting for him to stumble again. Especially since it helps give the impression that Deku isn't outpacing the rest of his class.

For those wanting Deku to have a late awakening of his own quirk, Monoma could try to copy OfA and end up copying Deku's own latent quirk.
Ew.
