But personally I don't need an explanation why they didn't use it before, because it's just story telling, if they had used it before, then this scenario wouldn't be as dramatic as it is now. Everybody would just think “yeah, ok they are diving again, no need to worry”. You know what I mean.
Nope. Nami even said goodbye to Luffy, they were legit scared that they were all going to die and there was nothing they could do… until Jinbe did his thing. Makes no sense to "save this move for later" when you think you are about to die and have time to prepare (they saw the wave approaching, Jinbe had time to make people tie ropes to the main sail etc)

nami can't make illusions, she can make mirages,meaning she can make you see something that is in a place somewhere else..she can't make the sunny appears like it's destroyed

Imagine next chapter we switch to Zoro & gang, see them fight some shadowy Kaido Calamity, then get completely destroyed by him.
Then next chapter we start the Reverie and don't see either half of the SHs until late autumn. -

That was a different situation, they had a giant wave right behind them, and it doesn't matter if they would've been under water or on the surface, because they would've been hit hard. They would have been wrecked for sure. AND this scene was to show off Jinbes capabilities as a helmsman.

The real question this chapter begs is: who is Tristan giving that apple to? I mean, there's no one there, girl.
Oven sure had a very suitable ability, but still taking out a whole Shichibukai crew like that in a second is damn impressive. And he is not even among the 5 strongest in his crew, if the fact he is not a SC says anything.
The chapter as a whole was amazing to read. Finally the BMP face was restored (and now we can go to Wano not thinking the Yonkou are just "meh…"), but I particularly love the fact Brulee was behind a lot ofwhat we saw in this chapter (machine gun to screw the Germa over? Brulee. Oven got on the sea to defeat the Sun Pirates? Brulee!). After all she was forced to do in this arc against her family, that was just fair.
I just with this chapter had two more pages after the "sinking Sunny", a double spread with nothing but a huge:
As for what happened and how it will develop, I will just quote my prediction from the spoilers thread:
- All we saw actually happened.- The Sunny is in a terrible state, but not completely destroyed. As the Big Chanter and Smoothie approach, the SH realize it is over.
- BM inquires about the who made the cake and it is revealed it was Pudding and Chiffon.
- Chiffon arrives and tells her they made the cake, but the heavenly taste was actually the work of Sanji
- As the SH are about to be destroyed, direct orders from BM arrive demanding the SH must be kept alive at any cost.

In the penultimate panel of the last page we see the Sunny going underwater. I don't think burning ships sink that fast. -

It doesn't make sense that this very Big Mom's ship was tagging the Sunny along at Dressrosa, trying to stop it… like all the time for them to reach Zou... and in this chapter it blowed the Sunny with a one-shot.
It makes sense considering at Dressrosa the Sunny: was sailing away from the Chanter, not towards it, and wasn't going along a narrow path surrounded by ship wreckage. And the Dressrosa crew attacked the Chanter immediately after being confronted; they didn't let it chase them all the way to Zou.
If the Fishmen can’t survive this boiling sea, what makes people think the Sunny can? Especially since it’s been proven to cause serious damage/explosions to ships.
The Sunny actually has been in this situation before - in Chapter 825, they sailed through a boiling ocean before entering Totto Land.

As for what happened to the Sunny there are several possibilities. But the cover with the strawhat without Jimbe, makes me cherish Jimbe still have another moment for shine here. So that from that moment on we'll have a colour Jimbe in the colour pages.

How is that remotely an ass pull? They realised the Straw Hats had to be dealt with at all costs a few chapters ago already, so they sent all the forces they could muster.

But now to the chapter at hand. Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks its Snack facing off against Judge, though I am curious about who else is there with them. Kinda curious to see what will happen to Germa though I think they'll be fine.
I was hoping that the cake would restore BM and make her crazy as a result and that flashback from when she was a kid was such a tease! I was hoping we actually would have seen more of what happened and have confirmation that she ate everyone, but alas not this chapter. The fact that Oda wrote in a musical number was great. I'm not big into musicals but I really enjoyed the imagery and juxtaposition of the (supposed) situations between BMP celebrating and on the offensive vs fishmen boiling in the sea and SH trying to escape.
I don't know about anyone else, but when the fishmen showed up in 899 I was less than enthused. I figured it was going to be a quick and easy escape and was really hoping that Oven would step in. Well, his appearance made my day. I got exactly what I wanted. Though I thought it was hilarious that the one thing he's most pissed about is Katakuri losing to Luffy. Don't you just love siblings? Oh, and I wonder if BM still remembers her threat to Perospero (or if he still remembers for that matter).
Like others I think the SH will be fine.I don't think the ship is badly damaged (if at all) and I could see Nami making a mirage to create some sort of a distraction. What I do wonder is how Nami is going to use Zeus.
Overall I liked the chapter but the next two weeks are going to be long.

Well, the Vinsmokes were getting riddled with bullets, but I can't tell if that was from the Big Mom flagship or if it was the ammo Oven said Brulee was bringing that could penetrate their exoskeletons, or both, so maybe, just maybe, that fire on the Straw Hats' ship is Sanji's aura from finally awakening his dormant enhancement genes because of what he saw happen to Reiju, thinking she might be dead. He may have counted on them kicking ass but seeing them get gunned down could have come as such a traumatic shock to him, he couldn't help himself getting emotionally overwhelmed and pulling a Gohan-style powerup. Really, really hoping that's what it turns out to be.
