Is the next episode Anime-only? I don't remember this big confrontation with Counter and Sanji spending a good amount of time searching for Luffy. I remember Sanji running into Luffy quickly after they rescued Brook.

Donquixote Rosinante deserved what happened. He was a liar and a traitor. I hate when characters betray, even if its happening on the villains side.
I loved this episode. They really did a great job with the comedic timing and nailing such a vibrant, striking look for the gags.

824 looks even better with Tomita and Mitsui coming back. The past few episodes have looked beautiful as well and I hope this continues into the tea party.
Padding? Filler? This is how you do it, you have fun with it. Hands down this was the funniest episode in the anime since that mostly-filler episode during the Sabo flashback (the one with Dadan and Garp falling into pitfalls and Dadan's dreams of meadows and fairies turning into a nightmare when the fairy turns into Luffy and punches her). The comedic timing was perfect, and between the dead-eyed Nami, Carrot, and Pedro had when Chopper sneezed, the soul-escaping freak-outs, "stuffed bunny" Carrot, and more it was a goldmine for reaction images. Even setting aside the exaggerated faces, Takagi's art and corrections have improved a lot lately and have become more consistent than they were a few years ago. I hope he continues to improve and get good staff.
Special shout out to Pedro's section, since that was entirely anime-original and absolutely hilarious for how completely unexpected it was.
! Honestly, he could've used some scenes like this in the manga along with the requisite fleshing-out of his mentor relationship with Carrot before making his explosive exit.
Well, Counter's the last of Opera's brothers we've seen. Dare we expect to see Gala after this? Will next episode explain exactly who that girl on his shoulder is? Daughter? Wife? Younger sibling? And that straw hat's pointless super-detail is practically KyoAni-tier. I really, really appreciate the anime's recent trend of having at least one above-average, good-looking sequence every week or every other week; let's keep it up through the wedding and beyond.

It really has turned it’s game these last 2 arcs. And I’ve been enjoying the heck out of it.
While the episode may have had one too many reaction images I enjoyed it very much. The Brook rescue sequence was one of the most fun parts of this arc in the manga and the anime captured it pretty well.
! Judging by the upcoming episode titles, though, Sanji and Luffy's reunion and exchange won't happen until two episodes from now. So eh…the filler has been good, but I'm not sure if I can wait that long. I too at least hope for the girl on Counter's shoulder to get named.

Pretty much. Luffy's race to the waiting spot in the manga essentially consisted of him choking Counter in the palace (instead of Cadenza) and then running there without much issue.
