Wait, if that's the preview I'm wondering what the heck the rest of the episode must have covered. Eight minutes of Sanji's big bros on that island followed by twelve of Luffy, Brook, Carrot, and Pedro fighting that bug Sea King?!

This episode was…..disappointing. They could have easily fit the rest of the chapter if they hadn't done the filler stuff. Luffy's gattling gun looked awesome though.
Moscato was on this episode, actually.
I was fine with the filler. At least it expanded upon stuff shown in the manga so I'm fine with it. I still prefer scenes like this over stuff like Buggy pissing on a wall like we got in Impel Down as an example.
If we get jimbeis cover story in next weeks episode, that would forgive some of the pacing for me
This was a pretty good episode. I thought the Ichiji-Niji intro scene was executed perfectly, with great atmosphere building and nice introductions for the characters. The Straw Hats sailing part was pretty good as well, with everything usually moving along nicely without staying on anything for too long. And of course the intro to Big Mom's rampage was cool.
I like how Big Mom's big three homies are all voiced by the same person, yet each sound different. Ichiji's voice was perfect; I was pretty shocked at how deep Niji's was, but we'll see how well it works in a few episodes from now.
Animation-wise, Prometheus and Zeus looked HORRIBLE up until their last two shots in the episode, where they actually looked on model.
Eh, it was an okay episode I suppose. It was certainly much more of a looker than last week's that's for sure. The big negative I have is stripping out what should've been a quick and fun action scene and reducing it to two boring one-shots (though I guess Luffy using Gear Second in this situation instead of Gear Third is somewhat unique) and then making jokes about blue-balling the characters. At least Carrot getting her psycho on was on point, especially since I initially thought they botched it utterly with that first take. I imagine that gif's going to get some mileage.
As for Big Mom's rampage, I liked the approach they took with the voices of Zeus and Prometheus, since I had figured they'd just roll out Yusuke Numata again and call it a day. It was nice to hear the full version of Big Mom's theme from the new soundtrack too, though the piece that plays afterward when she's eating the buildings was definitely not on the online preview…
I have to agree that the centipede fights were all build-up with little real pay-off to the point where the episode lampshades the disappointment of Luffy almost effortlessly defeating the foes with one or two attacks with the centipedes not doing much other than making waves. The Giolla filler back in the day and that filler arc a month or two back at least gave us some of the secondary characters some time to shine. In the end, it just seemed like stalling in teasing a promised Big Mom rampage (which we at least get near the end)
I'm also noticing that the animation seems like it's plateauing into mediocrity between this episode (save a couple key scenes) and the preview for the next. Hope that's not the case.
I for one thought the blue balling of the characters actually worked well as a joke.
Well these aren't the most exciting chapters being covered right now, the animation isn't terrible by any means either, hopefully the dip in quality is only temporary and doesn't follow the trend of previous arcs.
Every arc goes through the slower introduction and build up phases. It works for One Piece as part of the adventure atmosphere.
I dislike how BM is drawn in the anime.
Last week i wanted to wait and see how it goes on, but for me she is just terribly animated.
Hope that changes in the future.
Holy hell was this episode bad. And I had thought they couldn't top last week. What does Tori have to gain by drawing or the episodes and arc by so much? Why do they seem to want to make bad episodes instead of good ones? No idea why they feel the need to do less than a chapter an episode.

What do you not like about the episode besides the amount of manga content it covered?
As many people mentioned in ages past, it's quite difficult for the anime to get filler arcs because multiple shareholders have to OK it. So this is more of a necessity for Toei rather than something that benefits them.
Honestly the worst part of the episode was that sea creature battle. These episodes are always gonna have their ups and downs. And if they are gonna do it, it might as well be now.
