@Screwtape:
Wow, Mom has a fit when the cake gets wrecked, she is mad at the SH's, picture breaks, and doesn't lose it like the first time. Yet Oda said she lost it the moment the picture broke. And no, don't use the lame excuse that "she doesn't know what to be mad about, so many things are going on for her to decide." The picture is suppose to be of THE utmost importance here, Yet just to make it convenient for the SH's Oda is willing to make big meme even more inept. I laughed at the "Show her the pic again." Wow…She already knows it's ghost...If EVERYTHING she is mad about is important KILL EM ALL for all of the above.
How is it a lame excuse when it was directly stated so in the story? You must have missed the dozens of times Big Mom wistfully looked forward to eating the wedding cake. She talked about it more times than she's talked about the acquisition of Germa 66. Not to mention that the first time we saw her in full daylight, she was putting on a massive musical number about the wedding that almost completely focused on the wedding cake. To put the icing on the cake, (hehe I'm funny), we know the lengths Big Mom will go to when she craves something. She becomes a rampaging beast, killing everyone who gets in her way until she finally gets what she desires. She started going into this craze immediately after the cake got destroyed. It's not like she was fine until both events happened and suddenly had to decide between the two, she was well on her way to going berserk before another, equally catastrophic, event happened.
One reaction does not fit all when it comes to Big Mom. She doesn't have the food she wants? She rules over a land with endless food, and she can rampage until she finally gets her way. But this portrait of Carmel is irreplacable. While we obviously don't know yet why she treasures it so much, its irreplacability means that a rampage cannot solve anything. If the portrait is gone, it's gone forever. We saw Judge cry when his dreams had been put to an end. We saw Luffy cry when he realized that he wasn't strong enough to fulfill his dream yet. Big Mom will have no solutions to fix the portrait, and so will mourn the loss of a treasure she holds so dearly, rendering her body the weakest it's ever been.
Thus, as you can see, Big Mom is stuck between two things that are equally important to her. She's not going to knock everyone out with Conqueror's for food when she can bully her way into getting more. She's not going to go on a rampage for the portrait because there's no point. She must decide which catastrophe is truly worthy of her attention…and I'm willing to bet it won't be the one Bege intends to show to her face, hehehe.
Did anybody see BASE Luffy, who a Biscuit soldier of Cracker's bodied, dodged an ENRAGED big meme? The Sun was coming down full throttle…I didn't see a storm tho..lolololol.
Getting overpowered while locked in combat is not the same as dodging an opening attack. That's like asking why Sanji got overpowered by the genie when he could dodge Pudding's gunshots earlier.
Also I don't like the fact that NO ONE else [except the lamp guy] is helping trying to eliminate Sanji. If the kids are so scared of Mom, why not everyone else go and waste this guy? Katakuri being an air head, worrying about Luffy, whom he had in his grasp and could of at least TRIED to kill instead of questioning him about the picture. Now commands Capone to waste Luffy. lolol..You're scared of Momma, grab your jelly beans and go finish what you started. Go over there and smash Sanji, so the Vinsmokes could be wasted.
I might see your point if Daifuku was getting overpowered by Sanji…but Sanji is in for the fight of his life here. The Big Mom Pirates have no reason to go after someone who is getting (vin)smoked when there are bigger fish to fry like Jinbe (haha funny joke).
Plus, Katakuri did try to kill Luffy. Jinbe just intercepted his attack and freed Luffy. Now, to Katakuri, this is Bege's fight. Whatever he may have seen, he knows can be prevented. Bege is a powerful crewmate, so of course Katakuri is going to give him the opportunity to remain loyal to the Big Mom Pirates, because it would be to his benefit. Now we know from the end of the chapter that Bege ain't gonna back down with his plot, so who knows what we'll see from Katakuri next chapter. Katakuri knows that impetuous acting is not always the best course of action, as he should very well know after he shot the priest, so for him to test fate a bit before letting his powers do the talking is a smart move on his part. He now knows that Bege is perfectly intending to carry out the future he's foreseeing, leaving him to take action next chapter.

@Count:
But why does she think the Vinsmokes will not lend her their soldiers and cloning technology as allies?
The way I see it is that while Big Mom allied with the Sun and Firetank Pirates in order to add on powerful crew members, she was merely interested in Germa for their technology plus their military, which consists of essentially subhumans to serve as grunt forces that can be rapidly grown with cloning. Considering the possible wealth of great strength at her disposal, it's not too hard to understand why Big Mom wouldn't be inclined to share them, especially since Judge views their upcoming agreement as an equal partnership where he loans his kingdom's strength to Big Mom in return for her helping him take over North Blue. It's quite the contrast to Jinbe and Bege, who pretty much joined more out of necessity than anything else, and in return for their full services got only protection. It's far easier for Big Mom to assure protection under her umbrella than to go out of her way to take over an entire fifth of the world, especially in Fishman Island's case where the protection comes at the cost of massive candy tributes.
