I loved the musical scene, it actually gave me chills…this scene was definitely made for anime, and they capitalized on that well! One of the few anime scenes worth a rewatch or two.

The Pudding stuff and intro to Cacao Island was pretty good too. I especially loved the theme played when Pudding gave Luffy and Chopper chocolate...

Episode was actually pretty solid. Not too reliant on stills or anything. And they fit more Pudding in than I expected, which was nice. Didn't care for magic carpet's sound effect. My boss called me right as the musical number happened tho so I hope that's up soon.

When I got home tonight I found much to my surprise that my copy of Vol. 82 had been mailed early, so it was pretty cool to read the final chapter and then immediately watch it's animated version.

This was a pretty fun episode from start to finish, but of course the long-awaited musical scene was the star of the show. I think Yoichi Mitsui did the heavy lifting on that sequence. Everything's fun and bouncy, then boom, once it gets past the snippet that had been previewed it gets super, deliciously creepy, and Big Mom's facial expressions sold it very well. I tip my cap to everyone who was involved in bringing that segment to life. Kind of a shame the next episode looks like a typical post-timeskip Shingaki episode despite him being paired with Tokoro once again.

It was fun hearing the new voices too. Randolph must've been voiced by a Straw Hat seiyuu since he seemed to be credited with a pseudonym. Amande's was pretty manly, and lol at the train guy being voiced by the same seiyuu for the ~~mine cart~~ train guy from the Silver Mine arc.

Just a thought on Amande's deep voice. Maybe it's due to her long neck which means her vocal cords are more stretched thus giving deeper tones.

Okay, I haven't watched the anime in some time, but that entrance was deliciously chaotic and wonderfully animated. Of course the song has already stuck in my ear as well.

one of the rare occassions where the anime was better than the source manga IMO, and the filler actually helped establish the atmosphere

I think Oda puts scenes like this intending for them to surpass his work because scenes like this just play so much better in animation with a soundtrack.

That was hands down one of the best episode endings this show has had in YEARS. You can tell they had fun animating this scene and it shows. I'll have to go back to watching the anime now cause I love Big Mom and so far they do too.

Haven't seen any episode of One Piece that had as much effort put into it as this, hats off to everyone involved.

Nice choice of music, they went with Nami's theme from way back in 1999, thought they gave up on it. 1 new BGM and 1 new song!
