Two new One Piece games revealed (PlayStation VR and ¿¿??)
-
-
@All:
Or probably Jump Festa.
That would be too long lol. For Jump Festa they can show a second trailer.
-
Based on the announcement, they are still in the planning stages. I would prefer if they took their time on the game and focus on making it the best One Piece game possible.
I just came back from Tokyo One Piece Tower where I tried the VR game. Here are some thoughts:
- We were 8 players at the time, one member of the staff conducted the game.
- You first get to choose your gender.
- The PS VR is bad, but the feeling of being in the Sunny is amazing.
- You get to choose if you want to see the Ladies' room or Sanji's kitchen. I chose the kitchen, there was a lot of food on the table.
- Up until now we were all in the same spot, now a multiplayer game started. We were divided in 2 teams.
- Some marine ships appeared and started shooting cannonballs at the Sunny. We got some cannons, so we had to shoot the cannonballs down with ours.
- Then a giant one appeared and we got to choose if we wanted Sanji or Zoro to stop it.
- When it was over Usopp announced the winning team and Zoro announced the MVP.
- Did not expect it to be that much fun.
- We didn't move an inch, we got changes of scenes but no walking.
- Some textures were a bit off when I got closer, like the grass on the ground or the strawhats clothes.
- The staff that conducted the game was talking in the game via Transponder Snail, so maybe that's how we get the narration ingame.
- The story was of us doing some pirate practices in the Sunny.
- The models are from Burning Blood
I was amazed when it started and I felt like being on the Sunny, shooting the cannon was fun too. If the game is making tours and playing minigames it could be fun. But I think that's all it can offer.
Not bad, very cool experience, worth the 60 minutes wait.
Yeah, I knew they were using BB assets. Grand Cruise seems like a rush job to capitalize on VR.
It might be fun for a few hours, but it'll get boring if there isn't more to it than just the Sunny. -
That would be too long lol. For Jump Festa they can show a second trailer.
Jump Festa makes more sense considering they rarely show trailers before announcing the platform/console.
Maybe we'll have a teaser trailer that reveals the console alongside the game genre in Tokyo Game Show, followed by multiple revalations in Weekly Shonen Jump and V Jump before the full length trailer at Jump Festa. -
Any news from the Tokyo Game Show or Jump Festa?
-
Well then….it's def looking like they announced ONE of these games WAY too early.
It's practically October already and not a damn thing has been said about that other OP title since it was revealed. Sorry, I do appreciate the new scan but I really don't give a rat's ass about the goddamn vr game. I just want to see if this "unprecedented", "enormous", "fresh and new" one piece game, with collaboration from Oda himself, is gonna be anything worth paying attention to.
Not asking for 15-min trailers and release dates, honestly just a simple screenshot or a proper title would be pretty nice actually. Surely two months is enough time to show something by now, ANYTHING new to acknowledge that the game still even exists.
-
While american and european companies tend to favor announcing stuff when they have something prepared to show Japan does their own thing.
They don't mind releasing simple info or criptic trailers to generate some buzz. Look at the latest Hideo Kojima's project, there's no gameplay yet or plot synopsis, just a trailer with info we can't really decipher because no other info was given and and the announcement it will have Norman Reedus playing a character, possibly the main character. With stuff like OP or Naruto or Dragon Ball they tend to make small announcements, just saying "hey, we're making some game with this IP" and then leave us in the dark until maybe 6 months before release, when they start releasing info on the clock.
We'll probably get the first trailer in Jump Festa with a summer 2018 release date. -
Ahem. The new title is Unlimited something, one hopes.
-
Ahem. The new title is Unlimited something, one hopes.
I really hope not, Unlimited was fun, but I really don't want another sequel, and the Unlimited gameplay gets repetitive boring fast, especially after Red. I want an original story with completely new gameplay
-
Since you're talking about the Unlimited series, I'm considering getting Unlimited Red for the DS, you guys have some feedback on that?
Btw, I think this game will be a new "IP".
If it was a Unlimited game or a Pirate Warriors or even a Burning Blood sequel they would've said something about continuing the series or something. They seem to be hyping the fact that it's an experience fans never had, something really fresh. -
Well, hopefully it shares more with the Unlimited games than with the bland fighters. I wouldn’t mind a rerelease of the old Unlimited games.
Unlimited World Red was the worst of the unlimited games, but it’s still fun and we’ll worth getting on the 3DS. I think its scale is more suited to the handheld anyway.

One Piece: Grand Cruise [will launch digitally for PlayStation VR in Japan in 2018, the latest issue of Weekly Jump reveals.
I](http://gematsu.com/2017/09/one-piece-grand-cruise-launches-2018-japan)n the article linked they talk about a shooting battle against the kraken, a talk session with Nami and a visit to Chopper's room and Zoro's training. I fear they won't release it worldwide, I'll have to make a jpn account.
-
Bandai Namco must have some confidence in the VR market for anime games. It'll most likely come to the Americas too.
I don't think Bounty Rush is related to Project Dawn, since the name sounds like another mobile gacha title.

This post is deleted!

Hype please be a aaa one piece game
-
A big loud YES! for Grand Cruise coming to Europe and an even bigger DON'T FOOL US for the Romance Dawn project

16 chars of 16 chars of hype!

So I guess this game will have an original story, guess that explains Oda's involvement, he probably designed the villain for this game, don't know if I should be glad for this piece of news or not though.
On one hand, I usually prefer the original manga story to be present, and always feel that the work put on a game-only character should've been put on more canon characters. Minor characters like Gedatsu, Ryuma, and Diamante do not make it to the games anymore, and that's ok. There are deadlines to be met, a limited disc space, and bugs to be checked, and making a massive game that includes all the side characters is not feasible, and I'm not even talking about the countless civilians like Pagaya, Chimney and Yomo. But when they spend the time developing a game-original cast, the feeling that this work could have been given to let's say Caribou, I get sad.
On the other side, the fewness of the new material for games started to make me bored personally, I mean, there's a limit to how many times I to play Luffy VS Arlong before it gets boring. It's also very very exciting and interesting to see new characters, play with them, and watch their interactions with the crew.
One of the problems with game-original plotlines, is that they almost always suck, so I hope it's at least as good as unlimited world Red storywise. -
My excitement is through the roof!
This development of this game feels similar to how the One Piece Films are developed. The original story feels like it will be on par with the movies.
Could this shadowy figure be a Fisher Tiger fanboy or is this THE actual Fisher Tiger and will the story be focused on his escapades when he was alive?
An original story set in the past would be a bold move.I look forward to more news next month!
-
Do we know for which console "Dawn" will be?
Also, all this gives me à-la-Red original story vibes.
-
its going to be a mobile phone game isn't it. Or a Pachinko.
-

Not yet. Depending on the scope and engine being used (if I had to guess, Unreal Engine 4) for the game, it could come to the Switch.

99% sure that it's not. lol

Curious, how the Kuja, Sun and Arlong Pirates jolly rogers are right next to eachother at the bottom…
-
@S.C.:
Curious, how the Kuja, Sun and Arlong Pirates jolly rogers are right next to eachother at the bottom…
It probably means nothing, and they most likely used random Jolly Rogers for this poster, because if you think about it, those three groups have no relation to the Black Cat Pirates and shatever Alvida's crew is called. Foxy, Buggy, Whitebeard, Law, and Shanks's Jolly Rogers are all next to each other, and I doubt they have anything to do with each other.
Spotted Foxy's Jolly Roger, hopefully that means he's in the game, I believe his only game appearances were Grand Battle Rush and Pirates' Carnival, and that's only because of how recent his appearance in the anime was to the games' release date, so, if he's in the game then every arc's main antagonist has a bigger chance to make it to the game as well. -
when is jump issue 2/3 released? can't wait!
if it's an original, current-timeline story, it can't be canon as the destruction of mariejois is too big to be presented in a game.
if it's a past story, it's likely to be linked to fisher tiger's story.
it's also possible to take place in future arc not shown yet in the manga (oda did say that mariejois arc should be released this year, right?)
as for gameplay, i hope it's an open world game with action rpg battle system.

That picture made me think of Dragon and the revolutionary army. Though I hope something that important is covered in the manga first.
-
I can see character creation being part of this game by you being one of the rescued slaves if the story relates to Fishman Tiger's flashback.
Edit: I didn't see anyone post this, but for the VR game Doffy is a boss. That's pretty cool. I hope the developers continue to add more boos fights, like Eneru, Hody Jones, Buggy, Wapol, Rob Lucci, Smoker, Garp, Kuzan, Fujitora, Z, and Shiki, would fit. It would help the game feel less repetitive.

Crazy how involved with the canon plot the next title will be, it better have good gameplay otherwise it will just lessen the main series.
I hope Oda is getting too ahead of himself, revealing Wano characters months ago and now this, expanding the universe but still finishing up Whole Cake island….

This is late, but my friend on Twitter posted this.

This is late, but my friend on Twitter posted this.
https://amp.reddit.com/r/OnePiece/comments/7cvj48/project_dawn_leaks/Doesn't seem like it's out of the realm of possibility but per usual I will treat it as fake until proven real
-
I mean…..it's probably fake, but it does sound cool.
-
I smell bullshit. All of it sounds like speculation he heard from other fans on what the game would be and threw together his own idea.
But some of the details DO sound cool.
-
This sounds like an educated guess more than anything, still, if this turns out to be true, then I'm a bit skeptical.
Now let's say why this is already pretty similar to what many fans predicted.
For starters, the story of the "leaked" game follows the pattern of a movie, but that much was obvious because Koyama already stated that they're aiming for a game better than even the movies, also, Oda's contribution will probably be the designs and concepts used in the game.
So why does this sound like a movie? Well, that's because of the multiple islands formula, just like how we had Endpoints and how Merville was many floating islands.
The open world part is probably derived from when Nakajima said he wants the next game to be open world.
The villain's backstory was predicted as soon as we saw the scan of the burning Mariejois.
So why does this feel like a fake? That's because of how little it seems to take advantages from the One Piece manga.
I think we all know how Bandai tries its best to please the fans, and that's why it's weird to have game without Crocodile, Lucci and all the villains that many fans just buy the game to see.
I personally don't mind not including those characters if the "leaks" turned out to be true, because the other solution would be too similar to Ultimate World Red which can feel pretty lazy if they do it again.
Finally, why I'm skeptical for the gameplay if this "leak" turns out to be true? Long story short, because of balancing issues.
How can they make each Strawhat playable? I mean, is it even possible for them to make puzzles that can be solved by whoever Strawhat I pick up?
And if boss fights are cinematic, how can they fit quick time events for each Strawhat for each Boss?
The ways the can come around this are not plenty, the few I can think of right now are:
1-Puzzles are nothing unique and interesting and can be solved just by jumping, dashing, or attacking.
2-You play with Luffy but you can summon the characters to help you with certain tasks, this however will come at the cost of making the Strawhats bland and only useful in a couple of situations.
3-The Strawhats are separated and you play with a group of three on each island, while this sounds reasonable it sadly will infinitely shorten the gameplay.
There is also the another answer which is impractical and unfeasable.I don't want to emphasize on something as small as including Jolly rogers, but I really hope they mean something.
-
Don't know why no one posted this yet?
But here is a new trailer for the upcoming PSVR game
-
The only things I like is Sanji's kick to cannon ball, Chopper facial expressions, and seeing all the StrawHats together.
Honestly, it's look like an awkward Burning Blood VR game.
-
holy shit, it looks really cheap. and lazy. and why the fuck do they still use Saboady's outfits for god's sake; move on, guyzessss.

One Piece Game Dawn possibly titled One Piece: World Seeker
The “unprecedented One Piece game” code-named “One Piece Game Dawn” and due to be revealed in the December 11 issue of Weekly Jump may be titled One Piece: World Seeker.
Gematsu discovered a test page at the URL opws.bn-ent.net, which is likely where the official website will be located when it launches. Bandai Namco has also filed trademarks for “World Seeker” in the United States, Europe, and Japan.
We will likely hear first details about One Piece Game Dawn, or One Piece: World Seeker, when information from Weekly Jump leaks later this week.
-
Strokes beard
Interesting. So, next week is when it drops info?
-
So reveal at WSJ first, and then possibly a trailer at Jump Festa? Curious to see who is the developer, Bandai Namco in-house or maybe outsourced to another studio.
-
I can't even guess the developer at this point. My hype is uncontainable right now. __

I see many new anime games being announced done by new/old developers. Brings me back to the PS2 days of anime games. CyberConnect2 is probably behind one of them. The fact that One Piece World Seeker is not getting a Nintendo Switch version proves Ganbarion not the developers, but who knows.
