One Piece Episode 782 Preview (Marine Supernova Arc)
"This is my original character with original power - do not steal" is how I feel about Grount more than ever after that preview. Hopefully the actual episode will give me some more to talk about when I get around to seeing it.
While not as good as last week I still enjoyed this filler way more than the last one. So far I like what they're doing with Carrot personally.
Bonham exclaiming that he's a Rokushiki master and I'm like, a certain cat working in CP0 would like to have a word with you on that. And what kind of demon possessed Grount's left arm 'cause that's pretty gnarly looking.
Carrots increased role in the anime constantly has me doubting whether they know something we dont but in a "but maybe one family does control 90% of all banks" way
Huh, so Ito was helming this episode too. Kinda choppy art and animation on the whole, but there were some good fire and electricity effect work, and the art quality jumps noticeably whenever Carrot's the center of the scene…
In all honesty, this was a very silly, dumb episode but it was an entertaining kind of dumb with some genuinely good/funny moments like Brook leading Luffy and Carrot right into a wall and Prody revealing himself to be selfish right after that faux-dramatic speech. Bonam continues to be the best of the marine trio, though as long as he was cribbing from Lucci's, Jabura's, and Blueno's movesets it might have behooved him to learn Tekkai Utsugi or even Kami'e. Those would probably have been useful. Grount is still the xtreme wannabe kool kid and Zappa's a creepy douchebag. I hope his seiyuu can get a better role in the series later on.
While it was clear that Luffy was going to clown these guys (thank god Toei learned their lesson after the Shuzo fiasco) I was pleasantly surprised to see that Chopper actually put up a good showing. Carrot declaring that beating up and electrocuting mooks was fun and being so apologetic over frying Zappa were worth some more laughs.
Oh, and how can I forget: "You just don't know what girls want." Clima Tact extends I guess that answers the question of why he has two swords.
Wow. The action direction was really bad for this episode. Like really, really weak choreography, plus bad animation and cuts. Episode was a big step down from last week.
Bonham is cool though.
I'm amazed how much better the pacing and directing are in these filler episodes. .__.
The animation quality was definitely inferior in this one, with the art ranging from good to….not good.
I also enjoyed the dumb fun in this one with nothing too horrible (aside from the fight animation) and lauged more than I probably should have through all this.
Glad it seems we'll be getting a proper Chopper fight in all this and hopefully Nami too outside of just one attack. Though it does look like Brook will get shafted out of a fight.
As for that preview....I'm to guess that Kuzan grafted that ape / monster arm onto Grount....? Or maybe a "failed" experiment by Vegapunk? Or maybe his "arm" ate a zoan fruit? Because it's really out there
But the next episode at least looks like it will be much better animated.
Bonham made me realize that Zoro"s "Ni Gorilla" technique is the "Life return" technique of Kumadori
The filler arc is good until now. I supposed Grount ate a smile like the Kaito's goons:wassat:
FUN EPISODE.
Carrot is growing on me with her roll in this filler arc. But still want Jimmy for nakama.
wondering what ao kiji will d do next episode.
not amazing like last week, but still great fun and entertainment
8/10 episode
Carrot was the highlight again
Overall this was a decently fun episode.
A major problem I'm having with this arc, though, is that I can't get behind any of the Marine Supernovas. Grount is pretty much just dead-set on taking down Luffy. Bonham has some cool techniques and it's nice to see Rokushiki again, but pretty much lacks a personality. Zappa's creepiness is just not fun to watch at all, and what's worse is that he has the most screentime in this arc so far. And we haven't seen much of Prodi. The lack of particularly interesting characters has made this arc's plot simple to oblivion, though I guess it is better than Toei attempting to write character drama and failing at it, like in the Silver Mine Arc.
You know, for a guy with 500 million berri on his head, you'll think the Marines should be chasing him like crazy and try every ways to detain him but instead let's sit back and let Grount and his gang take care of him. Brilliant
Not gonna lie, Grount was far weaker this episode than I thought he'd be. I didn't expect him to overpower Luffy or anything but I was hoping for him to get a few hits in. Luffy punked him without even taking the fight seriously. The Lucci wannabe was fairly good, if for a good reference at least.
The only good moment in this episode for me was Prodi admitting he's only so determined to capture the SHs because he'd get demoted otherwise. Right after a heartfelt "justicesomethingsomething" speech. Genuinely smiled at that one.
As happy as I am to see Rokushiki being used again in this filler (especially Rankyaku because it's been a long while since we've seen that being used), I must say that most of the animation for them in this filler has been a little crappy so far.
