And Carrot was absolutely adorable (put more carrots in my curry!)
Coby and Garp cameo also make perfect sense in canon
If this is how Toei can do all fillers, I honestly wouldn't mind watching a full season of it

Why is it One Piece has a hard time with pirate-based fillers but always nails the marine-based fillers? This was honestly the best filler I've seen from this series in some time. The animation was on point too and I like all three of the navy characters. Too bad this is only three episodes. They should have made it like 10 at least.
Well now, this is certainly more enjoyable than that last filler arc. It's nice to see Marines again in their natural habitat and I'm already attracted to the Navy Trio.
Prody's voice is hilarious. I liked the episode all the way through and can't wait for more. It's a little strange that none of the grunts recognized Luffy or questioned his arm stretching.

Sure he can be a dumbass sometimes, but that's because most of the times he act on instinct. About the food suply, well he tried his best but he can't cook :). And the burning of the kitchen is something that could have happen to a lot of people I guess.
But for exemple in Dressrosa, sure when he was acting as Lucy he let slip once or twice that he was Luffy but he realize quite quickly that he made a mistake and tried his best to cover it up. But here, he act like he doesn't care at all about being discovered.
So what's annoying me the most isn't really that he acts stupidly once, it's that he act like that continuouselly and doesn't realize what he's doing.
Seems they're trying to recapture the appeal of the G8 filler arc. This was a pleasant episode and do hope the rest can maintain that level of enjoyment. Even if it doesn't, if a a mediocre filler arc can allow the pacing in the canon episodes not to be garbage I'm down with them.
Me and Theresa liked this filler ep. Zapper was funny hit on Nami.
Liked the episode, Zappa was funny and it was overall fitting, even when infiltrating a marine base isn´t exactly a new concept.
Still looking forward to the rookie marines introduced.
Grant may be handled a bit comedically, but the dude could honestly be the next Akainu. I'm hoping Ryokugyu is a tad like him.

Eh, Prody doesn't have the same charm as Jonathan. At least the moustache is there, so he gets bonus points from that.
Otherwise, I feel this could be much better if the characters were given more than 3 episodes to make me like them. It feels rushed.

i was confuses too. they should not of showed garp the same as before. he is probably a changed man after the war.

I think either his full title now is "Special Instructor Vice Admiral Garp" or its one of those things where even when someone is retired you still address them by their former title out of respect

Sengoku's position is more laid back than Garp's so maybe that's why but both positions are laid back all in all
The coloring really stood out to me; much like the episode where the Straw Hats got to the top of Zunisha it was very atmospheric and crisp, helped along with some solid Yokoyama art. The director deserves a gold star for using all that serious music for goofy stuff like Zappa's scenes and the Straw Hats being on the verge of a Donner Party in the opening. It added a nice melodramatic touch to elevate the comedy.
Bonam's my favorite of the marine trio, as he seems like a pretty cool guy. Grount's very Devianart/tumblr OC-like and his character arc can be seen coming a mile away, and I too found Zappa rather creepy. At least Sanji's antics generally don't come off as that level of skeevy. Kind of a shame that Brook got benched, but I 'spose he's not as marketable as the MC, the FeMC, the mascot, and the future Straw Hat amirite?
Liked the variety in the marine mooks (hey, there were more than a couple women in there apart from the token one there for Nami to jack a disguise from!), the visual directing, the music, the absurdity of the disguises, the inclusion of the SBS detail that curry's the Navy's main dish - lot to like. Let's hope it lasts.
Bonam's the best. I usually like chill dudes like him, he makes Grunt's total shallowness bearable.
I would love to see Garp in a shirt matching Sengokus.

I think it was mainly an easter egg to the anime filler episode where Sanji sneaks into a Marine Convoy that is, ironically, having food issues, and teaches them how to make good curry.
With it coming full circle now that the SH's are having a food crisis while Sanji is away, and being saved by that very same curry recipe
I think it's very poetic and one of the most thoughtful things ive seen from the OP anime in years
So I'm not the only one who likes Bonham the most? That's good to know. Then again, I tend to favor most of the burly characters in One Piece.
