I loved the first chapter. My favorite of the 6 new manga. Please survive (and be picked by Viz if possible) !
Robo seems a little too OP but I guess we'll see some room for growth being introduced really soon.
I'm as intrigued as the captain and wonder what kind of background he has to explain his physical ability.
I'm really interested to see what kind of ideas Fujimaki had before drawing about that sport he loves. -

I bet he'll do mahjong series after this one.

Was a nice first chapter, will follow for now.
-
New sports series in Jump, yes please I'm super in! All aboard
KurokoRobo no golf. This run of jump starts has been really strong I've liked a lot of them,
-
I found this even better than the Dr.Stone one. Robo reminds me a lot of Switch just more talkative. I really liked the way how he stood up for his friend. It's pretty clear that despite being a total noob his friend is going to be an important side character to show-case Robo's unseen emotions. Like Robo said himself, when his friend was upset, clearly visible, he became upset too, cleary not-visible. I also liked the dark-skinned Pro guy who seems to be a Hardworker. Guy has enough self-esteem to not only accept that somebody he has yet to seen is way better than him but also the drive to see that person again and not for selfish reasons to beat him or something like that, but just to watch him how he did the perfect hits to maybe better himself at Power Golf.
I wonder how long it takes till we get the first named female Golfer.^^
-
Solid first chapter, but having Robo so overpowered makes it harder to create tension later.
-
The official English name is Robot×Lazerbeam. With a z. (Also, someone please explain me the × thing in manga names, do people think it's a cool symbol or what?)

Hardworker guy reminded me of Imaizumi from Yowamushi. Top of his game pretty much but also acknowledges the natural talent without being a douche.
-
I kinda like it.
Though the scene with the 2 guys insulting his friend was the most cliche thing ever & it wasn't' very good.Robo is a mixture of Smile from Ping Pong & Saiki from Saiki Kusuo on Sainan.
Admitedly, Robo surprising everyone with his genius in golf will get old really fast.
-
Chapters 2 and 3 are up.
-
He's probably going to be another Happy Gilmore and suck at putting. Cause if he's too perfect then there won't exactly be anything to overcome.
-
According to the editor, the series is getting amazing reception? Which I don't mind since I kinda like the series.
I'm glad that Robo isn't completely hax. He's only good at that particular shot because he has practice that shot for a long time.
I think the main challenge he will face is learning to love golf & having the drive to win in golf.I'm pretty sure Robo has a relative who is amazing at golf (from the maternal side because golf originated from Scotland). His dad's words must mean something…
-
They have yet to even show if he can drive. I would imagine it will be a situation were in he is a genius only in using an iron at this point, but will struggle to get the rest of his game to the point that his iron game is. This would logically ignite his drive to perfect every part of the game. I can see that premise providing for enough issues to be respectable. Plus it follows the classic shonen sports plot line.
-
I'm surprised nobody had thought to tell him it's golf isn't really a game where you have to compete against others. It's not really a team sport. Your personal best matters more since others can't help you during the game.
But then again his friend is kinda dumb. And the captain doesn't know him well.
-
Yeah it's gonna be… interesting how they could possibly spin this series as a competitive sports manga.
I mean, it's golf. There's no battle of wits or exchange in the battle.
Mechanical accuracy is absolutely the endgame of perfecting golf, and the protagonist is already there. There's extremely little left in terms of growth. With a sport entirely focused on personal performance and no direct interception from opponents, "robot" is quite literally the final goal.
….Clearly we're gonna have to swap the title to "Prince of Golf" and have the players shoot balls into each others faces, physically crushing the opponent.
Clearly. -
I disagree about golf not being a competitive sport.
If Fujimaki choose to use a "Ryder Cup"-like kind of tournament, I can definitely see some really captivating competition.
I really hope that Viz picks this manga for ESJ in the coming weeks. -
Gotta say, ch.4 was pretty fun. Looks like those two will never be real friends because their passion for golf is so greatly different. As in "I put down my life for gold!" and "Who cares?". XD
But that 2nd hit man with those expressions afterwards, awesome. Roboto is really the Saitama of Golf! XD -

I love it, I really do. It's time the author introduces Robo's weakness(es) though, which will probably happen in the 3-holes match.
-
Maybe Robo can't putt. That's all I got. I can't think of anything else he could have as a weakness lol.
-
Lack of golf sense seems like a handicap, amd whatever they are gonna reveal next chapter.

I particularly called it. Unable to putt. But also not understanding environmental affects.

That is true, but all those side effects he may encounter once and then he will be able to cope with it the next time.
Putting being his one weakness should hopefully be a permanent thing, but remembering how easily he shot each ball into a basket while with his father, it seems unlikely.
also why should putting be so hard for him, there he can most easily predict a good shot, once he learned about lawn patterns etc. -
Judging from the cover in 3…2...1
The orange haired kid is probably a Soma type, "aw shucking" his way through the series, but has an unorthodox and non traditional way of golfing that sets him apart from the others.
The black haired kid is a more traditional and mathematical type, who thinks golf needs no emotions and only raw hard science and math will lead him to victory.
Score me please.

Lol yeah what Thanatas said. Maybe just give it a quick read. It's only got 4 or 5 chapters.

A fire is starting in Robo's heart (or, more likely, brain).
-
Another great chapter. I loved that "Yeah" panel of Robo.
By far my favorite manga of this round. I'm so glad that Viz picked it. -
The legend begins.
-
Good stuff. Glad he's not perfect. And can't learn too rapidly. Especially since courses are all different it might be even harder for him to fully adapt in round.
-
Latext chap was really good, I like Roboto's reasoning for continuing golf, it is different from the usual sport reasons. Can't wait for next chapter to see the regulars drop their jaws at his Laserbeam strikes just drop their jaws again at how awful he is on the green. xD
-
Kuroda's animal comparisons are awesome lol.
I just called somebody a wombat before reading this chapter.
The extra bit made me wonder what manga the author did before this since he was lamenting about his dead eyed main characters lol.
-
I'm really enoying this series.
I'm really curious about Robo's mom. I'm like 90% sure somebody from his maternal side must be a golfer because of the whole Scotland connection with golf. -
Loved the chapter but like Karasuma I still wonder why Robo went to the roof. Hopefully, it will be adressed next chapter.
Nice to see some new characters who seem interesting (that Gen quirk is hilarious IMO).
Judging by their best scores, who Robo will replace down the line seems obvious. But maybe Fujimaki will surprise us.
And that extra was great. Just like the bloopers in KnB, I love that self-awareness side of the author.
I'm glad that this manga appear to be popular in Japan and I hope it continues. I can't wait to see the first official match and its rules with 4 players on each team. -
With 4 players I could either see Team victory aka all hits counts and whichever team and less wins or elimination mode as in the player with the highest hit count gets eliminated till only one team stands. Or something like that.
-
I don't know why I didn't realize or remember that this was the author of Korokuro no Basket.
Makes so much sense.
I hope this series sticks around long enough for an over the top anime lol.

Nice chapter.
-
So we get our first team partner better to know.
Nice to go up against some jerks, happens all the time on the golf course gosh -
Just picked this one up, and it's surprisingly fun. The title made me think of Killer Queen ("dynamite and a laser beam!"), but the series so far is nothing like that. My hope is that the author keeps the story limited in scope, since eventually Robato is going to hit the limits of his development as a golfer, and his development as a character should be necessarily limited (I'd drop the series if they ever tried making him develop/show 'tru emotions' cause that isn't who he is). Still, I'm having fun with this as it is. It's sort of like if Ping Pong were written by ONE. Robato is very similar to Smile (both savants called emotionless robots by their peers), but RobotxLaserbeam has more shonen storytelling than Ping Pong and, within that, it has a similar set up to One-Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100 (I'd say somewhere in between), where Robato, with all of his powers, gets challenged and antagonized by hotshots that don't realize that they're out of their depth. I'm hooked as it is.

Yeah, I like this manga.
-
Yeah it's nice that he's got one or two over the top skills. A very shonen sports thing to do. But he at least seems smart enough to develop better.

Thing is that his missing skills are things he can easily gain himself through his normal repetition. I am betting he will have issue with things like purposely curving shots, but we shall see.
-
This chapter made me a fan of Rion. Fujimaki's talent of making secondary characters likeable is intact.
I hope the inter-high have tag team matchs. Lots of potential. -
This chapter was a nice one also, another rival introduced and we see the shortcoming of not really being athletic, robo's not taking the afterday too well
-
Ah, dang it, the latest chapter made me tear up.
-
-
Lol, that cracked me up. Thanks
