^all of this

I hope Zoro says his attack names in Japanese even in the English dub version. Would sound cooler.
-
Oda has said they're watching rough cuts of the live action and that so far it's 'awesome'!
-
It must be kinda insane to watch your cartoon world translated to live action mwahaha
-
I'm so invested in this. I'll be crushed if this is trash
-
Oda´s take on it being "awesome" would be before the cgi, which makes or breaks the deal...also him saying anything bad would just be hilarious and already doom the project.
Iam still in high hopes, but it generating a hype like GoT i don´t see happening. -
You can trust him on that brief but honest evaluation.
-
@Greg Have you seen any test footage so far Greg?
-
No comment to that end.
As for Oda's comment, I'll be the first to point out if a comment reeks of 'marketing obligation', but you can rest assured, that comment from the JF message is legit.

With Netflix going cancel crazy as of late, I'm worried this will just be a one season affair. Granted I want it to pass muster and at least be decent since some gags obviously won't translate well in real life. Plus Netflix will drop a show pretty quickly for any negative reason (Money especially). I know a lot of folks weren't big on Cowboy Bebop, which, hot take, I honestly thought was okay and just flub a few things (Vicious character and the whole Red Dragons side plot mostly), but otherwise enjoyed some of the alternate interpretations. I can tell Tomorrow Studios were trying there and trying to keep the familiarity while not being a carbon copy of the original. We all know going into this it's not going to be one for one of the manga. Oda said as much himself since the main story isn't finished and there's no way you can cram that much lore with the episode count given without making changes for the format. This is essentially a retelling.
I am glad that the production crew is working closely with Oda here and making sure it meets his approval before going on. But again, what I like and what the masses like will be two different things. At best I just don't want it to end on a cliffhanger like CB, leave it open-ended at least. Enough for the season to end on that at least seem like a good stopping point that can serve as the ending, but at the same time leaving some bread crumbs to pick up should Netflix give them another season. Though of course it depends on how this'll play out in motion. Fingers crossed.

Yeah that's honestly the main reason why i won't get exited for a multiple season adaption. I trust that the showrunners get One Piece and i'm sure they'll do at least a decent job at adapting it. I know i'm going to have fun with it no matter how it turns out (except if they somehow make it really boring). But i don't trust that Netflix will renew it until i hear the official word. I'm definitely rooting for it though.

I still don't get what they are going to do about the fact that we already know what would happen in the first 8 seasons or so..
Are they going to change the story a little bit? Maybe more than a little bit? -
Matt Owens today said there would be news very soon.
-
@Kaiolino Oh, nice! Where did he say it? I saw nothing on his Instagram.
-
I reckon it was during the YouTuber Reverie?
-
Yeah, it was during the reverie.
-
Somebody clipped the part where they discuss the netflix series.

Are they going to change the story a little bit? Maybe more than a little bit?Why would they change the story just to "surprise"?
Everyone knew what would happen in the Harry Potter movies and they still made all the money back then. -
I'm wondering if we'll get news really soon about the live-action. Like today or early next week soon.
Matt Owens asked what day it was before teasing that news was coming "very soon", which suggests a matter of DAYS.
Over the past few days, Netflix has announced their 2023 movie slate and have released some news on some of their biggest properties like Cobra Kai's final season. I wouldn't be surprised if a One Piece update is somewhere in the mix.

I feel like dry faced gear 5 luffy waiting on something like a picture. Anything.
-
@crlsdc They are just trying to get past the first season! They need Netflix to renew.
Personally I wonder if after the first season, doing standalone movies, perhaps adapting the films would work better than trying to go through the whole story in 8 to 10 seasons, which production wise take over 10 years to do.
